Be drawn tomorrow in conjunction with the fixtures coming out for next season. Looks like we're in the northern half of the draw. Obvious preference for Vale would be number 32 (away especially) but if not am hoping for a home tie against a L2 opponent as could do with a cup run for the finances I feel. Watch us end up with fucking Sunderland or Rotherham though.

Due to location Leicester Home or Away for me, that said I would hate it as much as I would love it due to the stick I'd most likely get from family when/if we lose!

This cup is still soldering on. But I can see this getting canned soon, as prem clubs take it less serious each season.
I don’t mind who we get, if we get knocked out it’s not a major issue. We have had our relative glory in this competition so no real desire to try and do well again.

A boring draw to a tinpot nobody like Barrow, Harrogate or Salford would do me. Either that or Leeds or Leicester away where we’ll most likely lose. Another dead competition in which I wish we didn’t have to partake in.

It does seem less interest in it, even as a L1/L2 club we've often made changes for it, recall us hosting a couple of 2nd tier sides and playing very weakened sides in it.

Could maybe can the Papa Johns and have the EFL Cup as the EFL 72 sides only or something.

Cup competitions have lost any credibility for me, even the FA Cup.
Even if you draw a big club the chances are they will play youngsters and fringe players against L1/L2 opposition.
Not like the old days when you saw all the stars as squads were a lot smaller

That is a good idea - especially in a knockout not a group.
And get rid of the under 21s.

Not sure whether we'll have requested to be drawn away for this because of the Stacey West redevelopment.

They tend to, although when we played Man City a couple of years back that still included a couple of World Cup Winner's, Finalist, Title winners etc! That's probably the best tie you can get knowing your facing a lot of big names, they played the likes of Aguero, Foden, Gundogan, David Silva, Cancelo, Bernardo Silva and Stones and chucked on Mahrez when we were knackered!

It doesn't matter who we draw in this competition as we must have the worst record in the football league for the amount of first round exits in it.

Need a cup competition to break up the monotony of the league though.
We will no doubt be drawn away for the 186th time in a row in Cup comps

Yeah especially if you’re looking to be a mid table side this season then a cup run is a nice thing to have to be honest. Can be a welcome distraction and in some cases can even help kickstart a teams season. I can see why promotion chasing sides probably would be wary of it though.

Last few years it’s felt like we’ve used the first round as an extension of the pre-season but I’d like us to try and have a go in it this time.

Might as well let us play Cardiff and Ipswich have Colchester

Plymouth away for us which is a bit shit. Pretty sure we've drawn them 3 of the last 5 EFL Cup 1st round's now.

Southampton at home for us. Difficult to know what sort of side they'll put out for a game they almost certainly will give less of a toss about than we will.

Fleetwood at home, winnable but same league and a bit of a dull one for both clubs I imagine!

Home tie against a team we should back ourselves to be able to beat so would take that. Not exactly one that will particularly excite either set of fans but there’s not that many ties in the first round that would.

Well at least we are at home. Should be favourites against Crawley and hope for a nice tie in the second round

decent draw.
Played them twice before in this competition- we won at their place a few years back 4-2.
Winnable game.

On the TV too?

We have Stevenage away - were due to play them in Pre season.

Probably be cancelled.

Won't want to be beaten twice by the Boro!

I’m not sure when the tv fixtures are announced. Imagine it will be Wrexham or Salford first…

Ooh yes just seen that, another one where it would be better to have each others fixtures. We'll give you a wave as we pass each other
