Akinde scores, Muggleton throws, Grimsby Win.

We are playing absolutely desperate football and somehow have 7 points in the last 3 games. We don't win at Grimsby so expect a poor game with Grimsby welcoming their manager with a win.

Looking forward to this one. Should be a 6000+ gate too as we've already sold over 5000 tickets.

Marcus Bignot has come across really well in the interviews since he became manager and has held my interest more in his 3 interviews than Hurst did in his 5 or so years here. The only worry is that we often blow up in front of a decent home crowd.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of team MB puts out for his first game.

No real predictions from me apart from that Akinde-Pen will probably be on the scoresheet.

I'm not taking the piss here but I can't remember ever not beating Barnet at Blundell Park.

Same again will do tomorrow please!

Edit: just checked and Barnet beat us 1 - 0 here in September 08 but my missus would have been ready to drop my daughter out then (born October 08) so she probably didn't let me go to that one!

Yeah we don't ever win there. It's pretty grim.

I remember that 1-0 defeat very well. It was quite possibly THE worst game of football I have ever seen!

Only time I went was that game at the end of the season when Grimsby beat us they ran on the pitch celebrating before the final whistle.... police horses on the pitch...

Surrounding streets full of dog shit

Oh how I laughed when they imploded at Burton

We will lose today, Akinde will score

Our forum will again debate how rubbish we are.

If we win our forum will debate how rubbish we are

Very excited for today. As Les said, MB has been a breath of fresh air in his interviews, very funny, positive and passionate. I can't remember the last time we had a manager whose interviews I enjoy and actively look out for.

Win lose or draw, I'm excited to see what type of football / setup he employs today. Apparently he likes 3-5-2 which could be decent as I think Andrew and Mills would suit as wing backs and we have an abundance of centre midfielders. I predict it will be a familiar system for now though until they have time to work on newer things.

Big crowd though so that favours Barnet. God forbid we win with a big crowd.

Unusual team selection from us. We are going to start the game with footballers on the pitch

I'm surprised by Akinde winning/scoring those penalties

Entertaining game. First half was excellent but the penalties completely knocked the wind out of us and we were pretty terrible from there. Not sure about the penalty decisions but I thought the ref was very poor in general. Many fouls he failed to give. It took him until the 89th minute to give us a decision and to be fair he did give us a lifeline at the end which we failed to take. As a result I think a draw was fair.

Very refreshing to see Bignot rally the players at the end. Still very excited for his reign.

My lad said Bogle was gonna miss just before his run/walk up, I said no chance son he'll blast it down the middle. :bang:

Being honest though Barnet deserved a draw as we fell apart for half an hour or so in the second half and they really should have scored a third goal then.
That said though, if Brandon Comley doesn't miss an absolute sitter 20 seconds into the second half then it's 3 - 0 and game over ut hey ho at least we got entertainment!

Felt totally gutted walking back to the car but now on reflection, draw was fair.

Thought we weren't that great to be honest, even in the first half the goals were gifts. Our midfield was non existent, having said that in terms of chances we had the better and probably could have won it comfortably on another day, but Barnet were the better side. All three were penalties imo on first viewing and Omars miss summed up the game.

My first viewing of the new players thought Berret was awful, don't think he passed to one of our players once, and Summerfield wasn't much better, but Mills and Chambers were excellent, Mills in particular and Comley looks decent. Omar was Omar and if it wasn't for him would have been a comfortable win for Barnet.

People saying the formation was 4-3-3, but looked like 4-5-1 to me, as Omar was so often on his own up front and 5 in midfield, I liked the fact Bignot was quick to make subs and last 10-15 min we could have won it but still much work to do, particular in defending I think.

Is it true Grimsby fans have been giving Bogle abuse on Twitter for his penalty miss?

If true, how stupid can you get?!

I've seen a lot of suggestions of that being the case but not seen any tweets yet.

That penalty was absolutely fucking woeful mind you, it's almost like he watched Akinde take his and tried to mimic the run up, oh well!

Horrendous penalty but can't put the blame on him as his first two were both good finishes and we had a number of chances that should have been put to bed.

Having seen the highlights I think both of their penalties were correct and our penalty plus the red card were both soft, so again we can't blame the ref as he did his best to win it for us in the end and we didn't take it. Still think he was dreadful throughout though.

Disagree with Frealaf that Barnet were better though. Akpro and Akinde were handfuls but I don't think we were in any serious danger. Our good half was a lot better than their good half.

I wouldn't call the penalty absolutely fucking woeful! It clipped the outside of the post. A few inches the other way and it would have gone in. Fine margins and all that!

From the highlights we should be appealing that red card every single day, he clearly won he ball long before any contact with the player - no idea what the ref apparently saw.

As for Bogle's pen, it must be hard trying to step up and replicate the master that is Akinde(pen) so I don't blame him. Never a pen though, Grimsby player went down so easy.

You should. I was at the top of the stand to the left of the away fans so had a great view of it and it was never a red in a million years. If we're going to start dishing red cards out like that I fear for the future of the game,

Watcha GTFCish, you seem to have settled in pretty well in league 2 and nicely in the play offs along with Oakroaders lot ! Its extraordinarily tight with only 5 points separating a mass of teams, not unlike league 1 which is as cut and thrust as ever. Be good to see you in league 1 and not in league 2 !!!

I used to think our forum was bad for just utter shite being bandied around but having recently joined a Facebook group I'm ready to change that thought!

Jesus Christ, we have some utter morons supporting our club (well aware I could be one of those).

First game back for me since December 2012! Thought we were gonna cruise to a standard Barnet victory after Bogle's second too. However, Barnet fully deserved their point from about then on. Bogle way too isolated in the second half, however he was quality in the first. Vose needs to play every game, in my opinion. Trying to give Berrett the benefit of the doubt after not being impressed with him from what I've seen, but on first "real" viewing it would appear that the general consensus of him not being up to much is correct. Akinde looked even better than he did in the Conference, getting him signed up for 3 more years looks to be a great move from Barnet.

Hi mucker yeah it's really tight around the play off fringes and much as it is great to see us up there I don't think we will quite have enough this year to make them.
I'd like to think that the next few seasons will see us consistently get better until we are challenging near the top each season.
Thats my plan anyway!

The ones I'm talking about aren't the kids!

It's like our Southern version of Carver. Except less pretend-punchey and more whingey.
