So after last weekends win against Tranmere we move to another game that has parrallels with that fixture from similar eras late. 80s and 90s

But you have to go back to 2010 for the last Notts win which doesn't bode well for a side trying to get back to form.

We could start how we did against Tranmere with a 4-3-3 but more 4-5-1. Tootle could be back too meaning only Enzio out. I'd take a draw here before Sol Campbell return on Boxing Day.

I’ve been to BP half a dozen times and never seen us win. The two that stick in the memory from better days was the high scoring draw in the snow in about 1993/4 time, and one where I was invited into the inner sanctum with Mr Fenty and his lovely wife after Russell Slade’s town got revenge over the chairman who was less than complimentary in the press about his abilities with a comfortable 4-0(?) win. Sure we had someone sent off it was midweek and the North Sea wind certainly blew into that main stand . Frozen Underprepared in a suit and thin coat . Never making that mistake again.

Would take a point without doubt but expect a narrow defeat

Remember that one in 05/06 very well. There was an odious little twerp of a poster on TFF who went by the name of Matt--Notts County and he was convinced that this was the match that would end our fine form and that Notts would go on and romp to the title. I seem to remember this one actually pretty much halted your season and you went on to have a bang average one? You did get a player sent off, but I seem to recall we were already 2 or 3-0 up and you actually caused us more problems down to 10 men. JPKK's goal that night was a banger, too. I don't remember it being cold though you wimp, it was only September/October!

A win here would be great, with Crewe at FGR we'd have a decent chance of moving up at least a spot. Would be 5 straight home wins too, I think. I can't see this being easy though, Notts obviously have a lot of under performing talent in their ranks and it's only a matter of time before Ardley whips them into shape.

It was Baltic high up in that stand with the cold wind blowing in from the North Sea. Maybe I was only in a suit due to the corporate side of things and was badly caught out.

Didn’t realise you were on that good a run at home, impressive stuff. We really shouldn’t be the ones to disrupt your tremendous home form . Point please just to keep some confidence after finally winning a game

Just checked and we're actually on 5 back to back home wins if you count the FA Cup win over MK Dons. 1-0 vs Colchester, 3-1 vs MK Dons, 1-0 vs Crawley, 5-2 vs Tranmere and 2-1 vs Swindon. Last home league defeat was 29th September, but that was the 3rd of 3 back to back defeats.

I'd snap your hand off for a point.
Half thinking about going as I was really happy with the effort shown last week by all of them even if there were glaring weaknesses at least they competed and didn't utterly capitulate for once.
It surely can't be worse than last season's dire performance where the wheels well and truly fell off the promotion push.
Are you likely to get six home wins in the bounce? Sometimes you're due a slip up or maybe that's just how I feel when Notts go on a decent run.

Still a bit hurting about our performance here last year. In with a decent chance of autos, full away end, and we turned in our worst performance that I saw last season, with Notts fans arguing amongst themselves.

Grimsby played well though, and celebrated like they’d won promotion. Hopefully for us better Saturday.

Arguing amongst themselves is a large step up from fighting amongst themselves . We’ve got a long history of that both home and away

Well yeah, without that win we would have had to go down to FGR knowing that we weren't safe on the final day.

Must have been to Blundell Park 8 or 9 times and seen us win convincingly and get absolutely hammered, but the one that sticks in my mind is my first trip, a Christmas game in around ‘93, an exciting 2-2 draw in what would now be the Championship with 2-3k Notts fans stood behind the goal contributing to an overall gate pushing 8k. Better times for both clubs!

Anyway, as for Saturday, every Notts fan would take a point right now. Feel much more confident about this game with Ardley and Cox on the touchline and Stead, Hemmings and possibly Tootle back in the starting XI than I would have three weeks ago, but I’m expecting it to be tough.

I’ll go for 1-1, Hemmings for us.

It was sort of the equivalent of a promotion, 4 games earlier we were on a 20 game winless run and were looking nailed on for relegation but beating Notts ensured our safety so staying in League 2 instead of dropping to the National League felt as good as a promotion.

With last weekends results the bottom 5-6 all Closed the gap on the teams above. Breaking the league into 3 we need to at least match Grimsby and Crewes scores (Saturday aside).

we definitely need to have closed that 6 point nt gap before the new year.

Doesn’t make great reading for the original black n white army. I’m sticking with my prediction of a narrow 2-1 defeat

I see Danny Collins is out. Is this a blow, Mariners?

Not at all. Alex Whitmore came in for him when he was suspended recently and had a great game and was unlucky to be dropped back to the subs bench the next game, so it'll just be Whitmore in his place.

To be honest Collins has had a couple of poor games recently so I'm not worried we'll miss him at all.

Hello Costa :bye: welcome back buddy.

Well as we all know Harry Kewell had a temporary new manager lift with a very productive few games but we all know how that story went.

With Ardley it has to be viewed long term or as it’s known at Meadow Lane, half a season :hb:

Fine to be interested but please don’t get so worked up this time :ds: it’s just lower league football

3 academy lads on the bench for us today which is good to see, and of course Harry Clifton starting who also came through the academy too.

It's a good job County are shite because apart from our two goals, we've hardly touched the ball, just keep giving it away

A bit like us a few weeks ago, you’ve got to put relegation fodder like that to bed and be ruthless about it

I don't know what to say about that. County the better side between both boxes with much more possession, but utter toss in both boxes.

That s what we are Adam, relegation fodder. A thirty eight man, £3 million mess, without belief, heart or courage.

Am I dreaming this or did that team that never scores goals just hit 5,2 and 4 in successive home games? :dk:

Next one will be a big test though with Mansfield here, although we owe them one after the lucky win they had against us at their place.

If you were a neutral you wouldn't believe it was a League 2 game today. Largely poor and the fact we've ended up scoring 4 should be severe alarm bells for County. They reminded me a lot of Chesterfield last season. Thankfully they've got time and a window to put it right but they looked like big relegation contenders for me.

I think we missed Vernam going forward but we defended relatively well. Good to see a larger attendance and a nice result to hopefully make it stick.

Thought we were awful today, couldn't string two passes together and kept gifting possession back to County.

The fact we still won 4-0 tells you all you need to know about how good County are.
