Welcome to JaseTheVillain's 2000th post extravaganza!!!

Thought I'd make this thread now it is (as good as, other than GD) officially confirmed that we're coming down. How depressing.

Well, this league is going to be fun, Small Heath, Wolves, Derby, Forest, potentially Burton and/or Walsall, may as well rename it the Midlands League, with special guests...

Can't see us doing well down here, best case for me is play-offs, worst, we'll go down again. I don't think any Villan would be surprised at that.

Still. Hello to you all! Get ready for threads full of us and the Bluenoses having arguments over who is shitter, and probably some incredibly arrogant Villans.

Get your money on a second consecutive relegation lads!

Bonjour.

I have hopes we won't be here but more than likely we'll be seeing each other. Think it'll be a bit more even than the last game too, no Petrov to lob Roy Carroll from 40 yards.

I think you'll do well as a gut feeling but nobody knows what team and manager you'll have so hard to say really. Should be fun.

Fucks sake, Palace scoring means it's not 'official' until next week, can't even get relegated properly!!! :ffs:

It's alright, we've got Westwood, I'm sure he could manage it.

We can get relegated if Sunderland win tomorrow if that's any consolation?

We haven't played Villa in my lifetime. Last game was an FA cup tie 34 years ago, last game at Villa Park was 37 years ago. Will be a good one.

Welcome to hell :bye:

The Championship is stuff of nightmares, don't expect to bounce straight back up.

To be fair, in a lot of ways it's better than the PL. Some great away days, new grounds, large allocations, ups, downs, everyone beating each other, and an extra 8 games. It's madness, and if you're top half of the table you'll love it.

Believe me, if we are leaving this division next season we'll be going in only one direction. We won't be returning to the Premier League.

Are you guys looking forward to the change, despite the board protests? Been ages since Villa will have had this many new grounds, expecting to sell out away most weeks?

I see Munky's season in the sunshine hasn't dampened his insuppressible pessimism

Au contraire, despite the fact we always lose at Selhurst, I'd rather foolishly allowed myself to believe we might get a result there to maybe drag Palace into the fun. Silly me for even entertaining the idea. I mean fancy thinking we might avoid defeat to a side that had gone 14 without a win and lost their last six at home.

Nope, not at all, he and I have been in a constant argument that Norwich will stay up. He also owes a charity of my choice £20 when we finish bottom too. As Norwich were going to finish there, even when 7 points clear of us!

to be fair, I didn't know the gap was 7 points when we made that agreement. you'd won a couple, we'd lost five in a row... I thought it was a lot closer... so it's not as ridiculous as you make it sound.

Cheers mate, I would say I hope you get promoted, but I'd honestly rather Middlesbrough, Hull and Burnley go up, the latter two we've played quite recently, and Boro are just boring as fuck. Plus it would be amusing having Boro as the top North-eastern team.

Love Villa Park, never forget that 4-3 game in '99. (My avatar)

Gutted to be missing it next year.

I'm actually pleased this never happened, gonna be a right laugh in/around St Andrews before/after the game next Saturday for the 'official' confirmation. In my living memory the Mighty Aston Villa have never been relegated, seeing them reduced to the 'Championshit' 'Chumpionship' 'fizzy pop league' will be a day to behold, I shall savour every moment :D

Excellent. Would hope we could take around 4K if it's a Saturday. Only played there once in my lifetime I think and it was a Tuesday night losing 5-0 in the cup.

Think the away capacity with the current layout is around 2700-3000, if they reverted back to away fans in the North Stand I think you can get about 7k in there, depends how badly they want the away fans coin.

We flogged 5.5k fairly easily for a cup game earlier this season and they were in this league a few years back - I hope we get a massive allocation for Villa but it depends on whether they sell the bottom tier to ST holders Jase reckons.

7k? That'd be ace, no doubt we'll end up getting them on a Tuesday night....

With Birmingham, Villa, and Wolves in the same division we cam finally have a West Midlands thread. No more lurking in the East Midlands love affair thread with Derby and M Dogg (Forest).

So whose more pessimistic JJH or Munkiki...?

On Villa, it will all come down to the summer, if they sort their shit out they could be promotion contenders, or they could easily do the double relegation. Given Newcastle seem to be dropping with one of Norwich or Sunderland they all seem like clubs who could push for promotion next season, Newcastle managed to keep their side together last time when they came down generally, Norwich are experienced when it comes to bouncing up and down.

Not pessimistic, realistic. We're not very good, I accept that and by losing pretty much every week, Norwich back me up on that.

If we're down here next season, I'd be confident of us challenging for the play-offs (depending on who comes and goes, obviously). I wouldn't want to go straight back up though.
