Fantasy booking time, mother fuckers.
We're officially on the Road of Wrestlemania (trademark and all that shit) now with the Royal Rumble coming up, so I was wondering... what's your ideal card for the show? I've been thinking about the roster and I don't see how the fuck they're going to fit everybody in that deserves to be in...
But anyway, here's my half prediction/ half dream card. I say this because it's basically the best possible card I could see WWE doing. I mean, if I wanted to go into complete fantasy land I could, for example, say a Shield Triple Threat, but I don't see them moving Ambrose over to Raw to do that... so this is a kind of middle ground between what I want to happen and what I think will happen.
Main Event:
The Undertaker vs John Cena - WWE Championship
Come the fuck on, WWE, make this happen. For a few years I, and many others, have been wanting to see this and things are gearing up nicely. The way I'd do it? Cena beats Styles at the Rumble for the title. I know, I know, I wouldn't have thought I'd want that either really, but if it led to this match I'd take it. Meanwhile, Taker wins the rumble. Then at Fastlane we get some bullshit where the title is vacated. I don't know how, use your imagination. Then for our main event of WM we get... Taker vs Cena, with Cena going for the all time world titles record, but to do so he has to do what only one man has done, and beat Taker at WM. And yeah, fuck it, Cena would probably win. Cena breaking that record (which will happen) may as well be on the biggest stage possible against the biggest challenge possible.
Triple H vs Seth
This is nailed on, isn't it? Don't even need to discuss it. It's been painfully slow in the build up with Triple H screwing Seth MONTHS ago and we're still yet to get an explanation, but fuck it. This could be good.
Goldberg vs Lesnar
Again, surely there's no way this doesn't happen. Have them fuck each other over in the rumble. And Goldberg is now being advertised for Fastlane... where I can imagine him facing Roman Reigns for the title. Lesnar to screw him over, and bang, done, easy. Though this means Reigns holding the title at WM... so...
Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman - Universal Championship
UUUUGH. I don't want it. Not really. But everybody thinks it's going this way, and I could totally see WWE being silly enough to do this. Reigns to beat Owens at the Rumble and then at Fastlane (more on that later...) and Strowman, who's being built up like fuck, to get into the title picture but winning an elimination chamber at Fastlane. But fuck it, I actually like what they're doing with Strowman. As far as big guys with no real in ring skills and no real longevity to what they're doing goes, he's actually pretty good. And he had a good match with Zayn lately, which was his first real match (you know, besides squashing people in 2 seconds). And I always say, Reigns has a knack for actually having brilliant matches. This could happen, and people will hate it, but I feel like by the end it could surprise people. Hopefully.
Owens vs Jericho
Yeah, I can see this. Owens loses to Reigns at the rumble and fastlane... and then, after Jericho has helped him hold onto his Universal title for so long and it's his turn to return the favour for Jericho with his US title, Owens suddenly couldn't give a fuck about Jericho. And as everybody except Jericho knew all along, he only wanted him around to help him hold the title. Jericho turns face (which is silly, but WWE tend to turn popular heels face) and the match is set. Even though we all know Owens should really be fighting Zayn.
Charlotte vs Asuka - Raw Womens Championship
Now after a few "prediction" type matches, here's one that's probably pure fantasy but man I'd love to see it. Charlotte, unbeaten on PPV vs Asuka, unbeaten in general. Something's gotta give. Means calling Asuka up soon and pushing her straight to the top, but fuck it, she's good enough.
Nikki Bella vs Alexa Bliss - Smackdown Womens Championship
Basically, it's all I can think of for Smackdowns womens match. We surely can't get Becky vs Alexa again, and I don't think any other heels are capable of being here besides Alexa. Plus it's about time Nikki got back in the title hunt.
AJ Styles vs... ???
There's not really anybody left on Smackdown who could justifiably go against Styles. Ambrose, maybe, but that's been done to death. And there's no way he doesn't deserve a one on one match. So... Nakamura? Surely a call up is coming and you'd assume it'll be the night after WM... but if they do it early (say, at the Rumble...) they can build this up in time. Alternatively... well, this time last year, Cena randomly posted a picture of AJ Styles on instagram with no context, then Styles showed up at the rumble. A couple of days ago, Cena posted a picture of Kenny Omega up... and rumours are circulating. As I said in the top wrestlers thing, I've never actually seen him wrestle, but if his hype is to be believed, perhaps he'd be a match for Styles.
Orton vs Bray Wyatt
Surely, right? Shit's already going down the the group and it's not really working. This is what I assume it's building towards.
Ambrose vs The Miz vs Corbin vs Ziggler and any other people who there's nothing else for, for the IC title in, probably, a ladder match. But I'd rather have...
Cesaro and Sheamus vs New Day vs Enzo and Cas vs The Club - TLC - Raw Tag Titles
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WWE, make TLC great again. Raw doesn't exactly have the in ring talent that Smackdown does in the tag department, but they could still put on a great match if they do it right... and the last time they did a TLC match at WM, well, it's often touted as one of the best WM matches of all time. It's baffling that they haven't tried it again and right now Raw has enough teams that are super popular to pull it off.
American Alpha vs The Usos - Smackdown Tag Titles
Not a lot of great options here and this match probably wouldn't get the time it'd need to be great, but there was a time a few years back when The Usos were having the match of the PPV every PPV. And, obviously, Alpha are great. I seriously think that this could be a black sheep for match of the night. It'll probably be relegated to the pre show, too.
Rusev vs Sami Zayn
Purely here on the basis of them being the last two Raw guys who I think deserve a match who don't have anything else. In fact, have Jericho drop the US title to Zayn and make this a title match too. Reeks of preshow, but Sami certainly deserves to be on the card.
Some kind of Cruiserweight thing - Another preshow match for sure. I don't care what happens, so long as it ends with Jack Gallagher coming out with the title, because he's AWESOME.
I've got Raw with 8 matches and Smackdown with 6, which is probably the right balance... and leaves 14 matches for the card, which sounds insane, but they did 12 last year so it's probably not unrealistic. Let's see how close that is (or, probably, how horrifically wrong it is...) come March. Also, what are your guesses/dream cards?
Do the thing.
