I've not been to many games but Ryan Woods (number 4 if i am remembering the correct player) against us at home was one of the best displays I've ever seen at this level. He totally controlled the game which was even more impressive seeing as Shrews were down to 10 men for more than 45 minutes.

Interestingly, Ryan Woods wouldn't be a lot of Shrewsbury's player of the year. He certainly wouldn't be mine. If NKP and Weso had stayed fit I'd argue he'd struggle to make the top 3. I think perhaps we don't value his role enough, it seems every team we play raves about him, whereas we see him every week so know what he is capable of. If he adds 5 goals a season to his game he'll be a top player at a much higher level. For L2 his passing range and accuracy is of a serious quality. He's one of the best young players I've seen at the club in a long time. Can't really compare him to Hart.

Mayor I rate very highly. He's got a few goals and assists too.

Can't comment on either of the other two but Mawson has been immense.

Fair play to whoever gets it as you would think the managers in the division have a better perspective than your average fan.

I'd agree with Vanner, Knight-Percival was my player of the year until his season ending injury. Woods has been very good in midfield, but his form hasn't quite been the same since Wesolowski got injured. Saying that, Woods has started to come back towards his pre Christmas form before his ban. His early season form was very impressive, and maybe us Shrewsbury fans judge him on those standards he set.

It's difficult to judge players in this league based on the once or twice a season you see most players. I missed Bury away, but don't recall Mayor at Shrewsbury, tho I understand he was out of position that night. Defenders were on top in the 2 games we played against Wycombe, but Pierre stood out more for me than Mawson.

One of the stand out opposition performers IMO was D'Ath of Northampton.

Woods is the best opposition player I've seen this season. Obviously only seen him the once though.

Matt Rhead, He has won more headers than anyone else so clearly deserves it...

Can't really think of a name who has really stood out against us. The lad at York, But he's not been here all season and Cureton for Daggers impressed me but he does everytime!

Sorry didn't see the list in the OP. Ryan Woods was good against us in November, Can't recall anything from Easter Monday though

Danny Mayor can win games on his own but has a tendency to go missing from time to time.

He's the sort of player where everytime he gets on the ball the fans get excited.

If Ryan woods in on that list then add Jack Thomas. 3 years younger than him and far less league games and Thomas had him in his back pocket all game. Woods looked a good young player but everything about Thomas's game was far better. (can only speak for the game against shrewsbury at home, wouldnt be fair to comment on his other games that I've never seen)

Would like to see jack make it onto that list next year. Good to see young talent in this league.

Jed Wallace springs to mind, Been excellent when I've seen him and always hear good things about him.

Woods is the best opposition player I've seen this year by an absolute country mile, in a completely different league to anyone else against us. But obviously it's based on limited evidence so hard to say who should win player of the season.

I don't think you really get a look into these things if you've been fighting a relegation battle, and rightly so. Jed Wallace probably one of the best players we've played against, but like I say I can't speak for the rest of Portsmouth's games and their league position would suggest he hasn't been consistently doing the business.

Ryan Woods was good against us when we played Shrews at home and won but I wasn't at the away game. The best I've seen anyone play this season was Tom Naylor for Burton, his second half performance against us at their place, he was everywhere.

From players I have seen standing out would be Wallace. Mayor from the list.

Probably Mayor off that list.

Akinfenwa was very good against us earlier in the season. Jed Wallace was decent a couple of weeks ago too.

Despite the number of goals we've conceded, I haven't seen any stand out opposition players, which goes to show just what a shower of shite we've been to be heading out of this league.

I'd have to seriously rack my brains to come up with a player of the season

I've barely seen what you could call a standout player all year. Only saw him in the home game which is all I can go off, Woods looked a neat and tidy midfielder but I wouldn't say he looked streets ahead of the division. Not suggesting he should be on this list by any means, but I've seen Doyle have better games than that.

Seen Mayor twice I think but didn't really have a standout game either time.

Liked Mawson both times I saw him, good defender and capable of stepping out of defense with the ball, as epitomised by his goal at ours, but did it a few times in the away game as I recall.

So probably between Woods and Mawson for me and as it's such a defensive and dour division it makes sense to go with Mawson.

To be fair the guy who kept him out of the team got snapped up by a Premiershite club in the summer (albeit he hasn't got near their first team).

I forgot about Joe Davis! Seems a strange move to leave a club to join a B team.

Out of interest, who did Joe Davis go to? Our Connor Goldson turned down the chance to go to a Premiership u21 team last summer, which was probably the best decision for him and us. He could quite easily have made the short list for this award this season, and could be in line for a big move in the summer having got experience playing first team football.

He went to Leicester. Weird move seeing as he couldn't even get in Port Vale's team last season (although he was very good for us on loan in the Conference).
