Missed out on him last time when he left Jockoland and ended up at Orient
Didn’t we have him here as a youth player, sounds like a Luke Armstrong type.
If so,he’d get plenty of goals getting on the end of Sterry & Fergusons crosses,if the new manager plays 5-3-2.

We're joining the looking for two keepers club, after Magnus Norman has turned down his contract offer, though we might only be after one as we have two young keepers who might be ready to step up to the bench.

Personally I wouldn't have released Mark Howard and regret it even more now that Norman has left but Simmo doesn't want an old keeper (Howard is 36) and said so.

Sounds like we'll have to get in line behind Mansfield when looking for keepers
Sam Hornby from us, free to a good home.

Aye, scored a lot for the youth team and got binned without a first team appearance.

Watson was at Scunthorpe was actually reasonably good (just had no one defending in front of him) - he was released i think

Magnus Norman has told Sky Sports News he wants to leave Carlisle to sign for Barrow.

I would have also kept Howard, but I trust Simpson’s judgement 100% and if he thinks he can get better then I won’t argue.

I’d imagine Norman had been told he’d likely be the number 2 again, behind a new goalkeeper so probably turned it down on those grounds as he wants to play regularly. Fair enough.

If it wasn’t for Rory Watson we wouldn’t have gone down sooner than we did. Same applies to Mark Howard the season before 7/10 rating

Even that 17 year old that played against us was pretty decent. Northampton would have been shitting their pants a lot sooner without his saves.

The one who was absolutely crap and let 7 in? I saw the highlights and my god, he was anything but 'decent', even if he made some really good saves that aren't on the highlights, it doesn't make up for the howlers he did let in

1st Goal: No chance, lashed in by his own player
2nd Goal: Close range header, no chance
3rd goal: Got his fingertips to it, possibly could have saved
4th Goal: Quality strike from Evans with the outside of his right foot, no chance
5th Goal: Top bins free kick from Evans. Aint many keepers saving that.
6th Goal: Close range finish from Collins unmarked on 6 yard box. No chance
7th Goal: Header again from 6 yard box. Could possible have come out for it.

That's 2 out of the 7. He saved about 5/6 more really good chances that we had.

Belshaw let 4 goals in against your lot yet was the best keeper in L2. Then again he had a piss poor defence that day. Maybe there's something in that with the Scunthorpe lad....

I think we all know Cam Dawson was easily the best keeper in the league last year bar none, I don't even think any other keeper came close, he was in a league of his own

Scunny's 17 year old keeper's absolutely inept performance can be seen here and people can decide for themselves

Some very loose rumours on twitter linking us with Odusina at Hartlepool and Osadebe at Walsall among a couple of others.

Offered him new terms but haven't heard a peep, can't see him staying at this point in time, think we'd be due some dose of compo if he does go elsewhere.

Including Ritchie Smallwood…. Although, you’d imagine he’ll have better offers in L1.

Apparently Pompey have offered him something, but he wants to stay up North - who could blame him.

Walsall sign Peter Clarke after he turns down new deal and player-coach role at Rovers.

Think it was made clear to him that we wouldn’t be giving him so much game time next season after being ever present in 2021/2. Will reserve judgement until I see our finalised defensive line-up for the coming season.

When we played at your place, he looked very much in the mould that Hughes is going after

Clarke is a legend everywhere he plays we didn’t offer him a deal saying he was to old, what’s he do goes and signs for Tranmere and plays every minute of every game for the next two seasons Tranmere will have to sign someone exceptional to replace him otherwise they will be weakened. Walsall have got a top bloke and player enjoy him in what is probably his last season

It does seem a little too random for it not to be relevant somehow.

Charlie Austin to be announced next week - imagine. :D

Was Rawson fit for the final?
Yes, he has not played since he made that stupid mistake which gifted Sutton United their first goal in that Good Friday home defeat.

Young Nige does seem to hold grudges against players when they make stupid mistakes.

Jordan Bowery was the same when JB missed that open goal at Harrogate, he was left out of the side for several games.

I wonder what is in store for the lad Hawkins after pretty much costing you promotion, I bet he will be ridden harder than anyone in pre season!

Lightening quick, skinny frame but strong enough, prone to lapse in concentration but he's only 22, had an excellent first season in the league after a shaky start.

Not ITK so I could be talking waffle, but I feel like he'll head back down south.
