How is Shaw getting on in recovery?

He's been excused from attending the game because not being involved is hurting his morale. His physical recovery is going very well. I'm sure he'll see that nice gesture one way or another.

3-1 tonight, encouraged to see Memphis and Martial.

I wonder if commentators are like the divas at sports TV networks. Never understood how they can pronounce players' names wrong for months/years. Looking forward to seeing how Lindergard does today.

BT Sport actually spelled it that way on the graphic when he came on against Everton.

What a load of balls.

Lingard and Martial the only players looking likely to make something happen. Memphis is just predictable af against his former team mates.

So far it's been a typical United performance against a team happy to put everyone behind the ball and hope for the odd counter.

Lingard the only player with any creative licence it seems, he's been the biggest threat.

Martial has been wasteful in possession and with his chances.

Well that was awful. We dont seem to be learning our lessons. Boring and rancid first halfs are quite regular. Then it opens up a little in the 2nd.

Football under LVG is so hard to watch.

I just don't get it. This is a must win game, you do not wanna go to Wolfsburg needing 3 points. But the players have been ridiculously casual in possession. No effort or desire what so ever to move and lose their markers, sloppy passes, shit decision making and criminally wasteful with the opportunities created.

We played like we were the away side in the second half. It's unacceptable.

That was abysmal from Minute One to the end.

Frankly on tonights evidence we dont deserve to qualify. And unfortunately it now looks like we wont.

Van Gal is so negative,

Waiting to the fucking 83rd minute to bring Mata on?!! Give him time Louis. Stubborn idiot.

That was fucking dog shite.

It's all well having the ball, but we struggle to do anything with it in the final third. Memphis was far too predictable, Rooney was too busy playing left back and Martial had his worst game to date. Lingard looked like the only player who could make something happen. Fellaini isn't a footballer, he should be nowhere near the midfield. Morgan had a stinker too. Considering the importance of the game, the performance simply wasn't good enough. You'd have thought a draw had us going through.

If Van Gaal doesn't line up something like this against Leicester, then I've no idea when this shit will end:

Martial
Young - Mata - Lingard
Bastian - Herrera

We were shit but still created enough to win, Lingard especially wasn't clinical enough (despite probably being our brightest spark), I thought he'd do better with Young's pull back after yet another brilliant pass from Blind.

All in all a very disappointing night, at no point did we look like a side who were only a win away from progressing to the next round, all far too lackluster not taking enough risk taking.

It's become a match day thread ritual to mention how much this team misses Herrera when he's out the side, but god knows that isn't becoming any less true.

Lingard plays the free role off the right alot better than Mata imo, just needs to work on his finishing. Rooney is literally a handicap to the team. Memphis's action is like a broken record, attempts to do the same shit over and over again. Fellaini just can't be arsed and is a total waste of a sub, especially when you chuck him in central bloody midfield.

I'd wanna try Memphis upfront, Martial Herrera/Mata Lingard behind him, then the Schmidfield.

Lol what the fuck are you laughing at? At least they haven't embarrassed themselves by drawing with Ludogorets and losing to fucking Basel, before failing to even qualify for this year's competition.

United probably have to win in Wolfsburg now, given that PSV will be favourites against CSKA. They've made it very difficult for themselves. United vs Arsenal in the Europa League?

Booooooooo.

And Scruff says Mata shouldn't be getting in this United side eh....
That was me and with everyone fit I stand by it. Given Herrera was unavailable yesterday I probably would've played him instead of Rooney but our problem wasn't really who started. Bringing Fellaini on with 30 minutes to go and putting him in central midfield was silly from van Gaal, he's ok to stick up top with 10-15 minutes left when you need a goal but it's very hard to control a game with him in CM.
