Finally a good display by Chorley granted Kings Lynn weren't great and they havexa long season ahead of them but we put passes together and it was a Goodall round performance. Need to carry this form into Mondays Derby with Southport.

Weird old game but I said Thursday a lot of key for Scunthorpe was perpetration for us and they didn’t bother.

First 20 minutes was dull as dishwater really, two sides doing very little than try to work each other out and neither doing much. Then suddenly we opened them up with a well worked move and we scored.

Suddenly Scunthorpe upped their game, played much faster (showing to me they had taken this game as a ‘walk in the park’) and Curzon had to work bloody hard to keep them at bay……and to be honest most of the first half they didn’t let Scunthorpe do anything, they had ball and had it about box but created little. Just on half time Scunthorpe had their moment with two well saved chances but half time killed any momentum from that.

Second half was as such bonkers it started to rain not heavy but constant and in terms of game I get it was again more Scunthorpe but apart from one other chance they didn’t really threaten and Curzon defended well even at times slowing game down and easing the pressure.

Then 20 minutes odd to go weather got frantic, had the unique opportunity of watching 10 minutes of the game through a doorway of a pub bar with about 10 other people as rain got heavier the mass hailstones and downpours thunder and lighting. Of the bits I caught an eye on (could only really see the curzon box and goal) Scunny had a couple of free kicks but game was more even at this point.

Pitch became swamped and then talk around people sheltering in the bar of whether game may be off and what point result stood, think it was about 80th minute pitch was bad and ball got stuck in water so talk was needing five more minutes to keep result.

In the end they played rest, rain eased and game became a mess because ball didn’t move and while I’ve seen games in 80’s and 90’s played on much much worse players thesedays don’t have the skill or knowledge to play in these conditions anymore which really killed game on chances and gauranteed us the points.

Scunny had more possession, play and ball about our box but curzon restricted them to 3 very good chances and defended well, Scunthorpe need to learn from this game to not ‘assume’ a game is easy and go for it from start of game, they only decided to play at their best once a goal down.
I really don't think we assumed the game was easy, we played similarly to how we've played in previous games we just couldn't break you down.

It was just one of those days that happens sometimes, we had 16 shots to Curzon's 2. Our keeper didn't make a save all game.

We definitely need to learn from this game but it's more how to break teams down who put every man behind the ball. However, I do think on another day we'd have had a bit more fortune and may have came away with something.

I still say for all the chances you realistically only had 3 that were possible goals, all saved well, wasn’t many moments when your side was in great positions or places and Lady Luck kept you out.

On the whole we defended superbly all game mostly restricting you to edge of box chances.

In terms of attitude I mostly mean from start, when we scored you really upped your tempo and made us work very hard but it needed to be 1-0 down for you to do it.

Excellent performance by us today, we looked unstoppable at times. Scarborough didn't really offer anything until the last 15 when they stepped it up and looked better.

Good away support and noise from them as well

That result bodes you well for season I always sometimes find a sign of title challengers is how they react to defeat

Hmm we are 2-0 up at Warrington at half time , maybe this season is the one we break into top 7, depends if we break our hoodoo vs the poorer sides

a very comfortable 2-0 win for us with Farsley offering nothing at all, 5 or 6 would have reflected a fairer result as we were in complete control.

Yeah good to bounce back and it was very easy. Only concern is we missed loads again, need to finish teams off, so many off target chances.

Finally our first win. Nervy first half, we took the lead but Rushall had several good opportunities to score. Jeacock with a superb save somehow kept one out. Once we got the second goal (hell of a strike from Freemantle) we were in complete control and really should have bagged a few more. Hopefully that confidence will do the team the world of good. (Well until Saturday lol)

Chorley easily won a game against a very poor Southoort side who finished the game with 10 following a red card. Chorley never really needed to get out of second gear today, onwards now to a home game against Stortford.

Hard to argue with that. For the first half an hour is was a bit end to end, but once you got a grip of the game we looked well off the pace. Having Hmami sent off didn't help us, but in reality the game was gone by then.

We are in big trouble this season. Can't defend and can't score. Even changing our style of play so far hasn't made too much of a difference.

We look good at the moment but the court case tomorrow could completely derail our season

I can't see us being this good playing at Gainsborough and all the extra legal issues that will come with being kicked out of our stadium.

We have announced Jim Bentley as manager. Appointing someone who basically was Morecambe FC just doesn't sit right.

Surprised he's gone for / been given another relegation scrap gig! Was a disaster for us.

I'm surprised too. He's contributed to the relegation of the last two clubs he has managed. Having him take over when we have won just 1 point in our last 14 league games, are leaking goals for fun and haven't scored from open play this season is just asking for trouble.

Hmm Bentley - has had successes in the past but as stated elsewhere he has been basically a failure in recent appointments. And conversely you;d have thought HE would think he should be in for bigger/higher placed jobs than bottom of confs rest southport. And that isnt meant as a criticism of s'port, either. Wonder if he's been promised money to bring in his players from Morecambe, etc?

Seems a bad choice, it’s strange because when he was at Morecambe I used to think he’s doing a great job on tight budget.

Then you watched Derek Adams get the same and lead that same set up to promotion and Bentley flog it completely in jobs since and maybe Morecambe struggled because of the manager than the Club itself.

To me wrong man…….Southport for me seem a club desperate for some inspiration or energy, Bentley will just come in with dour realism ‘can’t do this, too hard that etc etc

Personally if I’d been them I’d gone for Steve Cunningham who is at Ashton United, granted is something wrong with his personality Curzon sacked him when he had them top of conf north, Buxton sacked him after delivering the title and knowing he had success this level……he clearly has something wrong between him and boards, but he plays an exciting attack based game and is for me what Southport needed, may go down but would having a good go at it.

With Bentley feels like they will drop with a whimper.

Is Zak Goodson getting a game? He didn't seem to get much of a chance at Alty last season. Scored a slightly fortuitous goal against Wrexham and was a cool penalty taker.

He’s started in the early games but we struggled to make any chances or have any shots on goal so it’s resulted with him being left out, we were missing a lot of players due to injury but they are more or less recovered now so I wouldnt be surprised t see him going out on loan to get games

Scored when gifted a goal by King's Lynn keeper, but not really seen much of his since.

Another 3 points for Chorley but it was a tough game, Bishops Stortford totally lacking a real threat In front of goal but made the game really hard, an over fussy Referee didnt help, several needless bookings. A tough trip to Tamworth on Tuesday followed by a visit to Curzon should give us an idea of how we might stand this season.
