We’ve had to take a few youth players to Ireland for training camp to make sure we’ve got enough numbers to make it worthwhile.

Tanto Olaofe with the only goal. We had two midfield trialists once again in Dominic Gape and presumably Rowan McDonald.

Wealdstone beat MK Dons 2-1

10 different outfield players in each half. Played Alexanders preferred 4-3-3 throughout with a couple of interesting positional choices. Some bright performances but overall players not comfortable in this setup yet and very leggy following a full training session this morning. Josh Morris played as A. Triallist and seemed to be Alexanders voice on the field second half so I'm sure is set to sign.

Yeah the full training session won’t have helped the legs but we supposedly tried a lot of players out of position I guess to test their versatility. Considering our unbeaten pre season last year I’m not too worried by this one, especially when we’ve still got more signings to come that will improve the first team.

If Morris can have the BTS impact that Harley had under Tisdale then I’m happy with that as a signing.

Lost 1-0 at Southport. Sounded a bit unfortunate, we hit the woodwork twice, but failing to score against two non-league sides is a concern.

Beat local non league side Whitchurch Alport 5-0 Long, Woodcock, Nevitt, Lunt and Griffiths scoring.

Thats two 5-0 wins so far, Burton at home next so a decent test.

Anthony Grant and Ben Wells, two players we released, played as trialists. Also Sonny Fish once of Orients youth team and Ade Adeyamo from Cray Valley Paper Mills (?). Seems he left Millwall youth to go to uni and is now trying to get into full time football. There was a young keeper from Fulham there as well. He was on loan at Aldershot last season...45 games or so.

Luca Ashby Hammond? Pretty good young keeper. He was at Stockport for a but in their promotion season so they may have a more informed view of him.

Retford won a step 7 league last season and are now at Step 6.

Last season we only beat them 6-0, so this season on that result looks like we will be promoted.

We’ll have to agree to differ. Arguably one of the purposes of pre-season is to identify areas of weakness in both the squad and play, so hopefully they can be remedied by the time the season starts. The evidence from last season was that Rovers weren’t creating sufficient chances or clinical enough with those coming our way. From what I’ve seen and read, the issue is mainly creativity. While, unlike some on fan forums, I’m not getting hysterical about the couple of games we’ve played to date, expressing concern about the failure to score given the opponents doesn’t seem unreasonable.
Rovers did once sack a manager, Dave Watson, after a poor pre-season start too.

I’d agree that striker(s) who’ve filled their boots in pre-season are likely to be in a better frame of mind when the season kicks off.

Sounds like a great little tour for our fans and team. Looked to be about 300-400 gills fans made the trip. Some quality videos been shared on socials.
