Good early goal. Gibbons with the great assist. He has been looking a top player of late overlapping down the right

Decent enough half from Vale, made most of the running in the game. Having Taylor up front has been quite refreshing as his movement has asked questions of them. Forrester been our best player. Sammy Robinson done alright on the left, can see it's not his natural side how he keeps checking back on to his right but when he has run at the Exeter RWB he's causing problems.

Yeah dominated and not really been threatened as yet but no end product. Taylor should score. Unlucky with the disallowed goal as think he was offside when the keeper dropped it. Been lively and encouraging so far.

Scrappy game but these are a good side. So good at what they do. Look dangerous every time they get forward. We’ve had a lot of the ball and hit the bar from close range but they’ve had at least a couple of very good chances. Could go either way.

Ref has been about a 5 out of 10 on the ‘vale scale’ so far

Good goal to be fair. 8 mins into first half stoppage time. Need to up the tempo in the second half.

Very even, you're well in it and had a great chance hitting the crossbar obviously.

Long way to go, I'm pleased with the way we've played but you are doing us for pace in many areas and that may come into play in the second half as legs get tired.

Good first half from Cambridge, pretty dominant and 1-0 up, should probably have been more.
Hopefully, for once, we will keep going second half…

We are usually better in the second half of games and our bench looks reasonably strong. Expect a few changes around 55/60 mins if we haven’t got ourselves back into it.

1-0 Vale through Will Forrester.

Exeter also down to 10 men due to some idiocy from Harper when he was already on a booking.

Plymouth in the cup, Pompey and Derby up next, all away from home. Could be a few hammerings

Get in!!! Massive win and fully deserved, only criticism is we sat back rather than keep going to finish them off. Hopefully push on now

Wasn't what you'd call a classic game but then it never is at VP. Felt we adapted to the conditions better than them throughout the game and you could see once we took the lead the confidence grew and in truth Exeter never looked like threatening an equaliser.

Forrester excellent for us, that's what we brought him here for. Matty Taylor is a right shithouse too, constantly in the refs ear and winning free kicks etc, we've needed that.

We deserved a point from that in the end imo. Even game…they are a good side. They looked much better compared to when we played them earlier in the season. Unfortunately we switched off from a corner and it was a great strike. I thought we had good shouts for at least a couple of pens in the second half but the ref gave absolutely nothing for both sides.

Ian Evatt can - and did. Was absolutely raging at the officials. To be fair Bolton did have a very good shout for a pen for a shove on Jerome (I think) in the area.

Thought that was an alright game for a 0-0.

2 enforced changes to the line up due to suspensions, meant we could only name 5 subs on the bench.

Finished the game with 2 defenders going off injuried and no recognised striker. Pleased we have no Tuesday night game.

Felt both sides cancelled each other out. Both playing in similar ways, about same number of chances per team. End to end with a lot of chances missed, not through good saves I thought. First half we had 3 good chances, diamond missing a 1 on 1 in first 5 minutes, an effort from Plange and another from Diamond. 2nd half further efforts from Mandriou, Diamond etc. Bishop missed a sitter for them, and Curtis could/ should have scored too.

Shows the difference in attacking options as Portsmouth are able to bring on Curtis, Scarlett and Piggott 2nd half and maasively made them stronger, but open at the back to counters!

Ours was decent, he was consistent with the yellow cards and gave them correctly both ways which was nice to see!

The 20 goals Bakayoko song is the most misleading one in football. The bloke is looking an absolute donkey.

I can't say I've been impressed with your new manager bounce.
