Well.... our form is a bit up and down I suppose.

This will be a great test for us against a team with a water-tight defence. A lot depends on whether or not we can carry last week's second half performance into this game. Also, how will our defence stand up? Keeper McGee has been very Jekyll and Hyde so far, mixing some great performances with some calamitous ones.

For some reason I don't think this game will suit us. I'm going for a pessimistic 1-0 defeat.

Theres absolutely no chance we will score anything close to 5 goals. If we win it’ll be 1-0. More likely to be 0-0 than anything.

This season is mapping out very much as an experiment by the manager, as he overhauls one squad and builds a new one. Inconsistency will reign throughout. So long as we're clear of the bottom four, I'm cool with that.

We won well last week, so we'll lose well this week. 2-0 Scunthorpe with about 850 away fans.

Not the best result.. I agree that we're missing Rose in midfield and Bennett should make the bench.

Sounded like we huffed and puffed but scunny were just too good for us. Worryingly I think if we had equalised scunny would have been able to ramp it up a gear or two. We are a bang average mid table side. 3 huge games coming up.

Surprised to see Pompey not having much threat up top. I was expecting much more. Maybe too much, I guess. Does pre-season down your way involve standing some players in pig shit for a month, with daily watering? Some tall players out there. Mostly crap though. Bad miss in the first half from that donkey Hawkins you have up front. Thought your number 11 was excellent, while your Number 7 spent the game arguing instead of playing. Ultimately though you looked second best pretty much throughout. First half we won the game with the good finishes and could have had a third, with the crossbar getting in the way. I was expecting us to soak up some pressure from you in the first 15 minutes of the second half and it came and you looked better. Basically, it went on for most of the second half with you having possession and unable to penetrate a solid defence. We looked comfortable I thought and gave you space to pass it around, but when it mattered we took control of it. The game was effectively over after 30 minutes. Once we had a 2-goal lead our defence and in particular our manager will be looking to secure the 3 points. Everything else is secondary. 2-0 up in the second half and we go 4-5-1 at home tells you all you need to know. Unfortunately for you, we took the piss in extra time with tippy-tappy ball possession in the attacking corner. Bit of ball movement practice. It was long over by then though and we have trips to Gillingham and Shrewsbury to think about. It's a long ride home after a defeat, but I am glad you lot turned out in numbers and pleased you contributed to SUFC's coffers. I spent the second half laid on the terrace with darkened glasses on, a couple of paracetamols and earplugs in. The drum and bell. Torture. FFS get rid.
