We won't do as well as last season, but I expect (and hope) we keep ourselves clear of this thread.

Fairly confident we won't be involved in this thread this season

Plenty of time to find a few more. The season before last Swindon were in a similar position, they played most of their pre-season friendlies with youth team players...got their shit together about a month into the season and made the play-offs...they had a pretty decent side by the end of the season.

It can go both ways though
We were in a similar position at the start of last season and were rock bottom of the league with 7 goals in 23 games until Galinson came in and started spending mega bucks in January

I'd imagine it's more likely to go the way of our first half of the season

The Morecambe owners have already bankrupted a top Rugby side though

Which is grim to think of, plus im more scared of Sabjot getting his hands on the club but there is other offers from other interested parties and there's a exclusivity deal with Jason and Sarb but i really dont want Sabjot he looks shifty

The first bookie (William hill) have released relegation odds, and as I feared (because I was considering a punt), they've made Morecambe 3rd favourites to go down (4-1) behind only Harrogate (10-30 and Crawley (7/2).

Going to be honest. Hasn't been a great week for Crawley. Sold good player to relegation rival. Multiple relegation rivals made good signings. It's become accepted wisdom (even on their Discord) that one of the 2 main owners can't be trusted to talk to anybody. Money strain. Still no CEO or DoF. Delayed reporting accounts for 2nd time. Plus a supposedly insider Twitter account causing trouble. More than all this, at some point their relationship with fans is going to be poisoned beyond repair. Many feel this happened months ago. Much, much more.

I thought Crawley would probably be ok, but that confidence is being shaken by death by a thousands cuts.
I still think though they have a good coach with a good relationship with the fans and most of a good first eleven.

Wagmi has said we can't afford a ceo.

I like Tilley. Decent player but he wasn't a Tom Nichols for us. I am not going to throw the towel in just yet. A decent centre forward and some proper legs in midfield and we can get well clear of trouble.

Us and Stevenage were bookies favourites for the drop last season - they don’t really have a clue.

Harrogate will do alright this season.

It was a couple of months ago that they said they couldn't afford a CDO, and besides that was Eben, and nobody believes what comes out of his mouth, including strangely, Eben himself.

Isn’t Dom Telford a decent centre forward?

Are you still a bit sore that the Tea Room beat you twice last season? I have nothing against Mansfield, in fact, I enjoyed our visit to Quarry Lane. I smile when I remember Alfie Kilgour's own goal. Best wishes for 2023/24

Well there is that, but also just a pointless club offering nothing to no-one and won’t be missed when they go back down.

I meant a decent number 9.

Telford will score goals aplenty with a half decent number 9 alongside him but he just isn't big enough to lead the line himself.

Bit of beef between Mansfield and Harrogate. What's the world coming to! That's like A peanut having a mard at being salted.

They'd be much more popular if they gave three quarters of the ground to away fans instead of leaving it mostly empty. It's great place for a pub crawl.

Frustrating isn't it.

Our shortest away trip and we would fill the entire ground if possible. Obviously don't expect them to hand over the ground to us, but 900 or whatever they give us is a joke.

Guess that's the price to pay for being stuck in the 4th division with the likes of Harrogate and Salford

They are an efl club and deserve to be so. How long their owner can bankroll them for this level remains to be seen but for now their fans (not many I know but certainly comparable to one of the divisions perennial favourites) should enjoy it.

Exactly, they’re just pointless.

At least sides like accrington and morecambe who acknowledge they don’t get many fans allow space for away fans and don’t be awkward.

Now now don’t get giddy now you’re out the conference.

I don’t think they even give 900, i thought closer to 600, the stadium is conference north standard.

Anyone who has visited Harrogate's ground knows it is a small site enclosed on 3 sides by houses and NHS buildings. The only access is from Wetherby Road, away fans at the south end and home at the north end. Since last season work has been ongoing to bring the away end up to league standards. This has resulted in temporarily closing most of the away end and reducing the amount of standing space for home supporters in the Wetherby Road stand. Once the work is complete there will be space for 1200 away fans, standing and sitting. It's hard to see how this could be increased without compromising safety and segregation in the ground.

I first started watching 50 years ago with my late Dad, in those days we took the family dog as well. The ground and the team have been transformed by the Weavers. Being in the football league is a dream come true. Now in our 4th year, I still have to pinch myself sometimes in case to make sure I'm not asleep. My grandchildren roll their eyes when I witter on about standing in the rain, the dog running on the pitch chased by our Dad and the supporters changing sides at half time.

How many teams in any league can thrive without wealthy owners? The Weaves come across as a genuine football family wanting to build a club for local people. A father and son working together seems to me to be a commendable thing to do. I'm very grateful for the transformation they have produced. They are the opposite of Raj Singh or a flashy Billy Big Bollocks who comes in and destroys a club or a repressive foreign country like Newcastle's owners.

I quite like Grimsby due to family connections and Bradford, another West Riding club but I don't dislike any team in the league. If you don't like Harrogate that's your problem, not ours. We are enjoying ourselves while it lasts.

I think Crawley and Morecombe will fill the two relegation plaices (sic), Harrogate will stay for at least another season. I also have a feeling Barrow might struggle. That's my crystal ball findings anyway.

Think a couple of the relegated sides will find things tough, like Oldham, Scunthorpe and Rochdale in last couple of seasons, slipping straight through should be a concern to Morecambe & Stanley ( would love it to be MK too but don’t see that tbh)
