Well the rest of the session was much better. Root and Cook have put 91 on from 146 balls. Root 45 and Cook 46.

If we have any chance of getting near there score - one of these MUST still be at the crease at stumps.

I think this is the end for Bell now, sad to see but his form has been poor for some time.

Cook out off Shah for 65. Huge wicket and a massive advantage to Pakistan now.

I will be surprised if we aren't 7-8 down by the end of the day as our middle order will really struggle and potentially capitulate on this wicket.

I did see that Bairstow reprieve though, can't believe they gave a similar one in the last test but not this one. I did say Pakistan could do to England what England did to them, so at least a positive result is on.

Still not a fan of Buttler, real chance to score runs this test and has failed once again and then wasted valuable time with that review.

I reiterate, consistently fails with the bat, complete waste of a position in the side. Bairstow may aswell keep and then bring in another batsman.

Why all this buttler hate? Bairstow has hardly made himself undroppable and his keeping is barely competent. If England drop buttler they need to look outside the current test squad for his replacement imvho.

Well 92/3 at lunch so that's a lead of 228 with 7 wickets in hand. If they get to 300 i'd say it would be job done now. Shame i'm doing a family event this afternoon so i'll end up missing any fun and games that start.

Also: "The lead is now 220. In Asia, excluding Bangladesh, only three non-Asian teams have chased more in the fourth innings to win - in 363 Tests."

It'd take quite some effort to get anything from this position.

Buttler's keeping is fine, however he's not scoring runs, its not just the lack of runs but also the way he's gotten himself out often that annoys people. Bairstow this innings seems he may be starting to show potential for transferring his county form to internationals, but if Buttler doesn't make a score soon he could and potentially rightly should be facing the axe from the test squad.

Drop Buttler or Bairstow, but Taylor surely has to play the last test.

Taylor not only needs to play he needs to bat at 3. I'd also go as far as throwing Hales in to open then put Ali back down the order. Not sure who i'd drop with Bell out of Bairstow and Buttler but meh.

Ahhh the inevitable collapse occured. Over reliant on Cook/Root an a middle order of sloggers, that have no experience in this part of the world. Let this be a lesson before the tour to India next year, we were always going to struggle but we REALLY needed that extra hour last week to get a win on the board. As it is now, this test is lost and was when we didn't make any kind of lead.

Not been remotely impressed with Rashid, not enough action on the ball, bowls it too slowly without enough aggression.

Have to agree with that too. Rashid is a much better ODI player than a Test player so keep him to that format. The one plus the management team will look at though is he can hold the bat, not that he's shown that this series.

Younis ton then declare? 400+ lead there's very little chance England will get close to that, plus you give yourself 5 sessions to knock England over.
