I’m intrigued as to whether northampton will come and play football with us saturday at field mill or repeat what they served up the other month in our 1-0 win.

Little sign of football that day, just constant falling over looking for free kicks which didn’t work - i recall their (suspended) keeper having an absolute blinder keeping the score down.

Given that wasn’t all so long back it’ll certainly be interesting on their approach.

Likewise, we were frankly dreadful down there and deservedly lost 2-0 which seems a lifetime ago.

If the managerial team at Northampton know anything about Mansfield, it’ll be let’s try and get free kicks and corners because they will hand us several free headers on a plate.

Isnt that all they do anyway?

They didn’t do anything when they last came to the Mill so I’m not sure.
I wouldnt worry about their recent win v Barrow as Barrow literally gifted them 2 of the goals. Im sure Mansfield wont defend that badly.

So when we played Mansfield, we'd been on a run of scoring 5 in 5 games, and we're heading into the playoffs with 13 in 5 games, so theres likely to be a less blunt attack. Main issue is that we have one attack partnership in Eppiah and Appere that work, and create chances. Everyone other than that, or any other Striking partnership, leaves us reliant on either set pieces or some magic from Pinnock. Rumours going around that we have a few injuries and Eppiah is very injury prone, so if those two don't start I'd expect not much football to played in the away leg.

The main strength, as per the whoscored website, is Guthrie and Horsfall and centreback and Roberts in goal. Maxted was brought in as competition for Roberts, there was no defined #2, but Roberts has been so good this year that hes barely had a game, so Maxted a bit of an unknown factor. Will definitely be a big loss, but he'll only miss the first leg.

They did do something, they fell on the floor, lots.

but of course it’s 1 game and they were unlucky not to go up automatically, so obviously something about them

The L2 play offs are quite evenly matched I think. I couldn't even predict who will get in the final let alone win them.
Previous league meetings go right out of the window though, I remember FGR taking 4 points off us in the conference, then we beat them in both legs of the play offs

Nerves kicking in now. Ticket sorted after thinking i'd missed out. Logged on at 11.15am casually thinking there would be plenty left only to find they'd totally pulled online sales by that point. No luck on the phones so finally got to the ground about 1ish and they had some left.

Gutted i can't get work off for the second leg!

Seems discussions ongoing regards using VAR in the L1 and L2 playoff finals. Only been one Vale game where it was used before at City and convinced me I didn’t like it then so don’t go creating different playing conditions to the rest of the season now.

Based on all the promoted teams getting their managers pinched, much like Wilder in 2015 for us, maybe there's an upsize to not winning your playoff game. Providing you like your manager of course.

Yeah I wasn’t keen, thankfully we didn’t need VAR for Pope’s goal so didn’t ruin that moment we had but would have been crap if it had… plus we’d have only lost 2-1 not 4-1 as VAR ruled two City goals onside!

Not yet. Ticket office can’t sell 2200 in a day! It’s not that fast. Think there’s a few hundred left but open late tomorrow as well so imagine they’ll be gone. Not sure when it’s general sale if they make it for that one.

They’ll all go undoubtedly. Think when it hits general sale tomorrow you can buy 2 per person so they’ll go pretty quickly. Unfortunately as it’s in person sales only for anyone outside of S-O-T it’s made it extremely awkward to get one.

Home leg tickets seem to be going well. Club did tweet we’d sold out the Railway Stand but that is deceptive as many of those are STH seats which are held until Sunday when they then hit general sale.

actually think the club have fucked it with in person sales. wouldn't be surprised if they realise they won't sell out and change it cos a large % or our typical following don't live locally i reckon

Guess the worry was posting tickets so late on?

1700 sold so only 500 left they will go fairly swiftly tomorrow.

430 left according to someone at the ticket office. They will be snapped up by the afternoon tomorrow. Loads of home tickets sold today too. I'd imagine we're looking at 2 sell out gates.

We haven’t sold out yet, pretty tinpot from us.

Absolutely no online sales at all and a telephone number that you have to ring literally hundreds of times to get through has surely put loads of day trippers off.

I definitely think it’s tinpot the club only just realised how pathetic our ticketing system is mind, and I don’t think I actually disagree with you (gotta be fair to the Northampton fans) just a bit of context.

No queues today so doubt the telephone number will be on hold but I agree with you on day trippers being put off if they tried Wednesday. If we fail to sell out a play off game then it’s just tinpot all around from us.

yeh maybe, I've had my ticket put on the supporters coach with the returns for collection at the ground before though. Even had Smurf meet me outside Maidenhead's ground with one once.

What does VP hold these days now that there are restrictions? How many home fans will be there on Thursday if its sold out?

Nobody is sure as the club haven't really said. I believe the EFL lists the total as about 14,000. Probably around 11,000 home fans with the move to the Bycars for away fans I would think.

Overall there are over 20,000 seats now but half the Lorne Street which has seats in now cant be used as the concourse isn't finished, that's just been seated out ahead of the delayed Robbie Williams concert next month.

The little family stand in the corner is closed off and the Railway stand and Bycars are limited to 80% i believe.

The difference for this game is though Season Ticket/Flex 10 holders wont be reserved so should see more than the 9k ish for the sold out game against Newport (plus the additional 850 from swapping ends).

I just don’t think it’s been a lack of demand issue, more to do with the whole ticketing fiasco which is definitely a embarrassment for the club.

Bit funny how we announced a new ticketing provider last week and suddenly ours decided to stop working also, deffo some shade involved.
