And despite the ex-chairman saying the club would cost "the price of a detached house" or whatever it was, it appears GI paid the princely sum of £1 for 100% of the shares. Not bad when the land Plainmoor is on is estimated to be worth around £5m.

If anybody wants a good deal on a new house then he's clearly the man to see.

Oh, and apparently Geoff Harrop is refusing to assist Nicho with any money as Harrop wants the manager's job, despite managing just one adult game in his career. Let's hope the last one out turns off the lights..

Didn't they loan the Club money, though? That probably formed part of the sum i.e. write off the loan.

After the last 2 shocking results it seems Nicho has apparently lost his job come Monday with Mark Yates rumoured to be taking on the baton of this shower of shite!

Nicho is a great bloke and loves the club but results are poor and at this rate we are going down, something needs to change!

Hi everyone, first time poster. I'm really sorry to read about the problems at Torquay. Although following Guiseley I'd be lying if I said I wasn't delighted by the unlikely win on Saturday.

Torquay fans were really good with us last year on the final day of the season. They came all the way up from Devon, got beaten but really couldn't have been nicer and more generous at the end of the game as we survived by the skin of our teeth.

That may not have been the case had we needed a result!

Incredibly frustrating that I've felt the need to update this thread over two years on from when it was created. A mark of the depth of our problems over the years, perhaps.

No light at the end of the tunnel yet, either. But at least we've had some form of communication from the owner.

So tonight is the final game at the club for Jared Hodgkiss, been one of the better players in the last couple of months. His loan expires and the rumour is he won't be returning. That leaves us with a squad of 17 players, including the manager. But do GI actually have intentions of adding to this?

Do they fuck!

Some times when I think about it I get very angry, other times I am non-plussed, which is perhaps the saddest thing of all. It is a position where very few people actually care about the club now, and it's due to the complete mismanagement since 2012. We are heading towards oblivion, towards a place we've never been before, and there is nothing. The local paper is merely standing aside and lapping up anything that comes out from the club. Back in the Chris Roberts era of 2007, they actually were quite good and played a key role in ousting him. This time, absolutely nothing.

By the way, I know I'm bumping this thread every couple of weeks but it's somewhere I can vent my frustrations!

I've heard Eustace wants Hodgkiss back. Maybe he thinks he'll be more useful for the run in. Will Nicholson be having to dust down his boots at some point?

Also I agree with Luke keep us updated it's a sad state of affairs and no club should go through it.

Best of luck Torquay, we are not adverse to financial woes and I know exactly how it feels.
Our current lot are not trustworthy in the slightest but don't seem anywhere near as bad as this lot.

All the best, I will be keeping tabs on this.

17 players for a pro team? Thats bad. Seen 11th tier teams have bigger squads. Surely emergancy loans can be used for next couple of month

Emergency loans could be used (although are they allowed after the March deadline? I'm not sure?). Either way, as mentioned, the board are strangling Nicho. Apparently numerous targets have been found by Nicho and then denied by GI and Geoff Harrop. He's our general manager, who wants Nicholson to walk so he can take over as boss. He recently instructed Nicholson to find a way to stop a well-connected TUFC fan from calling him 'FAT Harrop' - there's an amusing thread on our forum if you wanted a laugh.

But clearly, that's the most important issue that Harrop has right now. Clearly.

Re Nicholson, he won't want to I don't think, but it's at the stage where one or two unavailable players and there's a chance he'll have to.

Pretty sure he's based in Devon. He was here from 2007-2014 and then back by September 2015 till now. His wife and children must be pretty settled here.

Yeah he's all settled down here - I think he stayed down here even during his short spell at Bath City.

Anyway, last night. Didn't see anybody selling programmes (not that I buy them anymore) so I don't know if there were any. Seen on twitter that there weren't. Half of the turnstiles were shut. Half the food kiosks shut.

GI slowly but surely running us into the ground, and yet nobody seems to care. Some fans still have their heads in the sand and think there's no issue. And the local rag continue to do nothing.

We've only got a squad of 18, which includes 2 loans, one of whom goes back next month. We're sixth, it can be done you don't need loads signed on.

My brother bought two on the popside. Said the seller was a bit shocked as they "only had 21 to start with, are you sure?" so sounds like they a bare minimum for the whole ground. Cost-cutting to the extreme...

Heartbreaking stuff. Hope things get sorted soon. Back when we had our backs against the wall, a few premiership (then Div 1) teams rallied round and threw a few friendlies on for us. Liverpool, Wolves and Man U, I think.

It's a sad indictment of modern football that I can't imagine any of them lifting a finger let alone throw glamorous friendlies for clubs in need. Even if they did, it sounds like your owners would make the money vanish into thin air.

It may be my Northern presumption, but surely there is wealth in your area, being on the sunny south coast and all? Are there really no local businessmen Torquay fans who are ready to step in?! Or have GI got their hands around the neck of the club and are refusing to let go?

Commiserations for your plight Yellow.

I know it's not much but you're playing us a week on Saturday and we'll be 3 points for you at least.
We're in the worst run of form since 2005 when we won 1 in 17 games.

Shocking isn't it, Gulliball. Even under Chris Roberts it never got to this. Over 1500 there on Tuesday night, which is remarkable considering we are utter tosh.

Pablosammy - the rich fan route is the way we went down in 2007. I don't think there is anyone who would touch it nowadays - there's too many vultures circling. If they were to step in, there chance was before GI took full control. Now we're pretty much screwed. It doesn't feel like my club anymore, and I'm waiting for the inevitable to happen.

Railway Blue I would be confident but seeing as Sutton left with 3 points without a goalkeeper, and Guiseley came from behind with 10 men, please forgive me for expecting you boys to take the points home too!

Of course. Despite the fuss from Harrop and the board about money available..there's no new signings. Really feel for Nicholson as he's a better manager than he's being shown to be - he's being strangled from above. Harrop is on double Nicho's wages for fuck all. This Head of recruitment has recruited fuck all.

Bunch of absolute bastards.

See you all again, maybe.

I'm guessing this means Hodgkiss is definitely back with us then.

Such a shame to see this happening to you guys. You guys have a massive part in our recent history being our first ever FL opponents and we've spent a lot of time against each other since. Plus the night you played County at the Moss in the FA Cup resulting in Macc fans in the "away" end singing "we're Torquay til half 9, we're Torquay til half 9....."

Hope you get through it.

It's now being speculated that if Nicho did want more signings, he would have had to reduce some of his contract.

Unbelievable.

At least it has woken more fans up - and it finally appears that more are willing to make their voices heard. Three games left at Plainmoor..

It is disgusting isn't it! Back in 2001/2002 when we had our backs against the wall Ferguson volunteered to bring a full strength United side to Gigg Lane for a friendly. The game obviously sold out and went a hell of a way to helping us in that dark, desperate time. Likewise Keegan's City came to Gigg Lane twice as did Stan the Man's Burnley, all bringing in much needed revenue.
Nowadays we will be lucky to get a Burnley reserve team never mind the first team. Meanwhile United and City are touring the east with their squads ignoring the roots of British football all for selling football shirts and appealing to a fan base that has no connection to their football clubs......and then the FA and their cronies wonder why the smaller clubs struggle.Utterly disgusting!
