So Donny somehow manage to throw away a 2 goal lead, with Crewe making it through to the final. Either Crawley or MK joining them tomorrow night.

I didn't see Donny winning the whole lot (I vouched for franchise) but fair play to Crewe to pull that out the bag and get the result required to progress.

Just need Crawley to keep franchise down tonight then to pick 1 from Crewe & Creepy to come up with us.

Crewe V Crawley. I'd want Crewe as they're down the road from us, but tbf Crawley have been absolutely awesome these 2 games.

Who wins the smallest club in league 1 next season then, crewe, crawley or burton?

I'd say Crawley as they haven't been higher than L1. Crewe have dabbled in the championship but they are not the biggest. Burton had a flash in the pan in the championship but hopefully they won't be in l1 for much longer.

Crawley looked really good in that tie, but you have to ask where that's been all season.
Still, not a bad away day

I don't think it was a serious question la.

Considering we've had 20 more seasons above League Two level in the last 30 years than Mansfield have then I'd certainly include Mansfield in the League One minnows section too!

And i think that’s the amazing thing, that a small club could so spectacularly punch above its weight is to be admired and respected and give hope to everyone else, though of course the difference is we’re already here.

Quietly confident, but so many variables, but if rotherham can go up and down like a yo yo then there must be hope for blues, more bob hope than no hope

What works in our favour is that playing us is not seen as a big deal.

Teams are generally more up for taking what they see as a BIG scalp and Birmingham will be seen as the one everyone will want to beat next season.

That's what happened to both Sheffield clubs, Sunderland, Leeds etc etc, it's unwise to underestimate this league.

We have done well to get up on 3 occasions in recent years but it was never easy and the Covid season we got up, we'll never know if we actually would have done if the season had played out to the end.

I know it’s looking ahead but I think it’s going to be very tough for whoever gets promoted in the play-offs.

Hoping for Crewe with it being closer despite the Ice Cream Stand being shite.

I agree with that. Whoever comes up out of the two is most likely to be going straight back down in a year or two’s time.

That being said, hoping it’s Crewe heading down as it’s only half hour on the train for us and with the stadium being right next to the station, has to be the easiest away day in the football league.

Yeah i’d agree with crewe out of the 2 for location, only 30 mins down the line from manchester, quite a northern league next season. The pubs are good enough around there which is all that’s needed.

Going to be really depressing for us Southerners if Crewe come up and Bolton stay down. May as well reinstate Division Three North!
Too right. These cheeky bastard northerners already have a top heavy northern division but are still wanting more. Pure greed lads :bg:
Just watched the downpour during Man Utd game whilst having a BBQ in the sun and chilling in the jacuzzi, guess its as grim up there as they say

We're even easier than Crewe off the train... Maybe.

Whoever comes up or stays down just be aware what can happen to your team.

This is from one of the RUFC FB groups yesterday.

On this day 6 years ago, Joe Newell scored in a 2-2 playoff first leg draw at a Scunthorpe team comprising of the likes of Ivan Toney, Ryan Yates, Conor Townsend, Murray Wallace, Dwayne Holmes, Josh Morris and Hakeem Adelakun.

Look at Scunthorpe 6 years on.
Bloody depressing.

Seem to remember Stockport around the L1 playoffs around Christmas 2008 as well before the wheels came off. By Autumn 2013 they were in the NL North bottom 3.

It's a shame whats happened to Scunthorpe. It was clear the foundations were built on sand given how much Swann was bankrolling them but COVID absolutely obliterated them financially.

Funny how things change though. 6 years ago I think Stockport lost to Chorley in the NL North playoffs, Huddersfield were celebrating Premier League survival and Wrexham finished miles behind National League winners Macclesfield who have since gone bust...

As a Greater Manchester based fan who only really gets to away days int grim north, next season is shaping up well.

That said, given how we've been away, it's very much a case of ''a good afternoon aside from the 90 minutes of football' every other week. Bring it on.

Unless something drastic happens in last few minutes, Crawley will be the last team to make up the lineup for next season.

And they've done it. Crewe offered little but what an extrordinary play off campaign Crawley have had, and a season as a whole.

Fair play.
