    Stickied League 1 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

I'm fairly certain that's the idea - its about recompensing clubs for the cost of developing talent. I think if it were based on the prospective value of the player it would fall foul of restrain of trade (EU regs). It would essentially be the equivalent of clubs holding onto a players...

    Stickied League 1 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

Not really, Egan was only with you for two years so you can hardly claim to have contributed significantly to his development, he was 21/22 when he signed for you (going of wiki). Bentley was at Southend since 2008, from the age of 14, and making his league debut for the club. I'd say based on...

    Match Day Match Day 20th-21st

Tough game at Bradford. I guess they're probably still sore after the play-offs so will be desperate to beat us. We've been unchanged in 7 matches over Christmas, and against Charlton I think we just began to run out of steam a bit. Maybe 1 or 2 changes to freshen us up. Hoping for a draw to...

    Stickied League 1 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

Think if he leaves he'd probably find a home in the Championship, and the money would be enough to put off anyone is this league. Not seen anything on our side to suggest Sheff Utd would be in the running, but I imagine he might be tempted.

    Millwall in trouble?

Putting our clear popularity with a few brain donors on here, the simple fact remains that the council is putting a private profit making vehicle, with questionable links to the decision makers on the council, over a community asset with an estimated value in terms of local community projects of...

    Justin Edinburgh sacked

Had a decent budget with us last time, but nothing like the Leeds/Forest/Southampton/Wolves budgets that we were competing with at the time. Tends to get the most out of what he has, but sacrifices a lot of flair to be solid. Don't think that'd suit a very talented Gills squad. Feels like it...

    Justin Edinburgh sacked

I'd caution against Jackett to be honest. Good manager but more about organisation and percentage football. With the talent in your side I think a more expressive and adventurous manager would be a better fit. Wouldn't be surprised to see Wise given a go. Did well with us before it all fell...

    Stickied League 1 Transfer Rumours/Confirmed Transfers 2024/25

Wylde was signed in the summer as a punt which hasn't worked out. There's something there in him, but he can only play as a wide man in a front 3 as he is defensively completely hopeless. Never adapted to our 4-4-2 and so will be allowed to leave for nowt at the end of his contract.

tower block dwellers v caravan dwellers

Turned a little bit of a corner now everyone is finally fit, but confidence is fragile and I still don't rate the middle of our defence. Reckon it'll be a tight 2-1 either way. The difference will be either Morison or Dack either way, IMO.

Who has been your team's player of the season so far?

Morison probably, carried us in a few games this season.

    Smallwall v Charlton

Ah yes the 'derby'. 2 crap teams under 2 under-performing managers so it'll probably be dire. As the other 'wall fan said, I really don't give much of a toss about Charlton, other than it being nice to see the Den full up. I think we're the better team, but have no confidence at all in our back...

    Ranger charged with Fraud

I wonder whether its even remotely possible for him to get a fair trial? He's so well known as an idiot who has flouted the law in the past, anyone vaguely aware of football in a jury would likely be biased from the start.

    FA Cup second round #WembleyBound

I'd agree with your assessment of your side. Looked very competent and full of confidence but maybe just a touch naive compared to some at this level. Keep that side together and you'll challenge the top 6 over the next few years, IMO.

    Millwall v Wombles - Tuesday.

Be nice to see Robbo back home, but not a lot else to get excited about. No Morison or Gregory so good knows how we'll score.

    'Wall vs Gas

Was a ridiculously harsh red card, think it was a highly questionable foul tbh. Was a good game before and after, us making the clearer chances but Bristol looking like a threat from range. The difference was debutant smith, who caused a lot of issues with his height. Very promising start from...

At what point does a manager deserve the sack?

I don't think Bury are underachieving at all, 11th is a pretty decent position for them at this stage in the season. I seriously doubt anyone (aside possibly from the OP) would have expected them to be any higher, despite their budget. FWIW, there are half a dozen bigger and better funded teams...

    'Wall v Dale

As bad as the tactics are, the issue is more that they aren't being well implemented for me. Being a long ball side with a combative midfield and decent strikers can be effective at this level, just not when the defence can't manage the basics.

    Millwall vs Cov

Playing too many games with effectively 9 men at the moment. O'Brien, despite his goal offers close to nothing for 90 minutes and watching Fred give the ball away is hugely frustrating. The annoying thing is that we actually do have natural replacements for most of our injuries, but have left...

Match Day Dickens v Pratchett (Pompey v Wycombe)

How is David Forde getting on for Pompey? He was a great servant for us and a thoroughly top bloke as well.

    GILLS V BANTAMS

Bradford were good vs us, kept the ball well and a much better side than last year. Still completely lacking a serious goal threat though.
