The team you “could” have supported

Funnily enough it could have been Plymouth. My grandad was born there and was a lifelong supporter, and passed this to my dad. My dad has never actually lived there, but met my mum in Wiltshire and happened to move to Exeter before I was born. I got into football a little later (high school age)...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

So Caldwell it is. Odd appointment on paper, but there was a rigorous selection process so have to trust they've seen what they wanted to see.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

For what it's worth, a month ago plenty of Exeter fans were saying very similar stuff about Taylor.

    Saturday 8th October 2022

Good day so far for the promoted sides against some of the bigger boys.

    Saturday 8th October 2022

Goals in the 1st and 48th minutes. Barnsley not quick off the mark then? Delighted for Stanno getting his first 2 goals.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

I have a strong feeling it won't be him. Can't say why, other than (as I said) I feel like it won't be someone with league management experience.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

I have absolutely no idea who might get it. I can see it being Nicholson, particularly if he does well in the next few tough games. Equally I can see it being an external, although I have a feeling it won't be anyone with L1/2 experience. Probably will be some random that no one in Exeter has...

So he did fine for 2 seasons then.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

I wouldn't want him back either, but not because I think he's a bad manager. I'm a firm believer in "never go back".

He did fine up here with us for 2 seasons.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

Now actually confirmed. We're in the hunt for a new manager.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

Based on the statements Rotherham and us have put out today, it's nonsense.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

I think it's the coaching staff that's holding things up. Clubs obviously agreed compensation for Taylor before he was spoken to, but now he's agreed and wants to take people with him they're quibbling about that. Particularly Scott Brown, whose status as our backup keeper complicates things.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

We have no idea. We are really in the position of appointing a manager so not sure what the tactic would be. Last time there was an obvious internal replacement, which there isn't now. Personally I couldn't care less if they are ex-Argyle, as long as they do the job.

Ah well, still not very tidy.

Although having said that, ECFC tweeted it then deleted it. Embarrassing.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

Now confirmed that he has gone.

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

We're pretty much the same on the budget front, so I guess Taylor has form on that front and it's a good fit. If you're stuck at a club with a low budget for its league that's unlikely to go higher, you might as well do it up a division on a higher wage. Obviously wish him and you well if he...

Is it time for a 'Managerial Merry go round' thread?

I took it as saying that if it was purely a footballing decision he'd go straight away, but he needed to fully discuss it with his family. That said, given we haven't heard either way implies to me he's going and they're waiting for contracts to be signed before announcing it.

    Saturday& Sunday 24th & 25th September

Well, got to be happy with that. I hope we keep the intensity up, and really want Stansfield to get his first goal. No more injuries would be a nice bonus as well.
