Looks like the lack of a striker caught up with us, although two wins from the three games without one is good going. Good win for Burton who look safe now. Fantastic effort by Hasselbaink considering where they were.

At least we know now that the automatics are definitely gone. The plan should be to hopefully go into the play offs in good form. Losing Jacobs for the season is a worry though as we're twice the team when he's fit. Marquis has completed his suspension now so we should be a bit more balanced from Tuesday.

When we played a back four the team looked much more confident and coherent. Yesterday we returned to a back five, and we just looked lost and aimless.


I was surprised just how many times a Tiger fell over every time they were in close proximity to our players. This in no way had any effect on the result, but it is really boring to watch. Some of the falling over was just laughable. I think we need retrospective independent assessment and punishment of players, and no team including us is immune from this, clearly cons the ref.

No more than the others, it seemed a collective thing. There was one where a free kick was given after the Hull defender went down holding his leg/thigh. It did not look right live. lo and behold the replay showed there was no contact at all, our player‘s leg simply did not have an extension that long!

Honeyman was, however, at the centre of most of their attacking play, he looked very good.

My point for suggesting retrospective action, such as a caution, is not that we are squeekly clean, just there are a few clubs/players where it is very noticeable and it would be nice to do something about it.

Yes it was fairly even up to 30 mins albeit we had the clearest chance whilst you had more half chances. I'd love to get Barker back next season. It took a while for him to get going due to lacking fitness but when he plays like that he is fantastic. His defensive play is getting significantly better as well which was non-existent. When he first arrived, he probably wouldn't have tackled to get the ball back like he did for for his goal, and closing down would have been half-hearted unlike the 2nd goal (which was still barmy from your defence).

Not well. Posh are, obviously, a very good side and only Camp kept the score down - that and they missed a pen too. Curran is just not league football standard. Rumours have it that his dad is not just financing his own son’s wages but, well . . .

I very much expect there’s more to come out re Power’s tenure - probably things not covered by FA rules! In the short term I think we have to be seriously thinking about our league status.

I agree on retrospective action. Something has to be done about the cheating and it may reduce the endless creep towards making it easier and easier for forwards (although defenders are increasingly getting in on the act) to influence a game. Defending/tackling is an art and a major part of the game so reducing the impact of cheating evens the scales somewhat.

Plus long term I think it makes refereeing easier.

I remember what you said about Curran’s dad. When you played us he came on at half time, I think, and was awful (he rugby tackled one of our strikers just in your half when he was clearly beaten for pace). At that point. I was not aware of the shenanigans as to his presence. Have watched out ever since to see how much he plays in your matches.

I'd disagree with the first bit, we were excellent, although we didn't ned to be given how bad Argyle are.

As for the second, we're no worse than anyone else in the main, but we do have two players who are bad at that, Honeyman and even more so, Wilks. Particularly with Wilks, most City fans also find it a bit embarrassing and wish he'd make more effort to stay on his feet. Having said that, Plymouth weren't much better. I had the home commentary on, and even they were pointing out it was nowhere near a foul on the five or six occasions a home player hit the deck and appealed in vain for a free kick. All teams do it to some extent nowadays, and if you think it's bad, pray you don't go up, especially not into the PL. Playing teams like Arsenal and Chelsea, it takes only a glance in their direction for them to hit the deck, and PL referees will nearly always reward that behaviour. L1 refs do miss stuff, but they also have a much more healthy scepticism about players falling over.
