Walsall v Colchester

Bradford v Harrogate (Monday 12th Oct, 19:45)
Walsall v Leyton Orient (Tuesday 13th Oct, 19:45)

Bit of an injury crisis for us up front. Aaron Hayden will at least be able to play following a successful appeal against his red card; however we look like we'll be missing Ethan Walker, Gavin Reilly and Gime Toure with injuries picked up this week as well as Brennan Dickenson and Omari Patrick who were already out, while Josh Kayode is away on international duty. Dean Furman is also out in midfield while Jack Armer is doubtful in defence but might make it.

Leaves us with Lewis Alessandra as our only forward who is fit and available, we don't even have any kids in that position who have made their debuts yet, probably means Lewis Bell could get a nod to go on the bench but can't see him being thrown into the starting line-up as we go in search of our first away point.

Marcus Dewhurst will be away on international duty also. Not sure how well Norman looked in goal last night but he did let five in, so I imagine we'll stick with Farman in goal. At least we have a settled back line who have improved in recent games.

Bench: Norman, Hunt, Charters, Bell, ???

Most of our kids are on loan at Kendal so I'm not even sure who we could throw in to make up the numbers on the bench. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw a signing this week.

Carlisle at home and a bit of a pressure one for us, win and its a great start, draw and its an average start and lose and its not a great start all of a sudden with Salford up and a tough away trip to Cambridge after that we would do with a win.

We experimented yesterday with 2 up front and produced our best display by far this season and absolutely destroyed Wigan (the score line flattered them).

We are however missing both natural right backs through injury and Smith who can cover is isolating unless we can release him from that with a test but unsure on timescales when this could be done.

One way around it would be 3-5-2 with Worrall and Monty at wing back but its not one we've played before, otherwise not sure what option we have as a standard right back. All the players out 3 of the 4 are right back options so its frustrating.

Never know what to expect with Carlisle, their fans are uber negative, more so than Vale fans so it gives a false impression that they are shitter than they probably are so expect a tough game.

Could be a few changes after some impressive performances last night. Can see Theo Robinson coming in after his brace and possibly Whitehead.

We've got forwards missing, you've got defenders missing. Reckon though you're better than us on paper and McKirdy's bound to score. The only scoring threat we're likely to pose is from set-pieces with Mellish and Hayden so if you avoid giving us said set-pieces then I can't see us creating anything at all. Shame we're missing Toure though as if you had a player out of position in right-back he would tear them to ribbons. As it is, we're lacking a proper left-sided midfielder so will be unable to exploit that. I'd be delighted if we come out of this with a point.

Is it Toure from Salford? Legge bullied him to bits at Vale Park last season and he spent the game moaning about it!

McKirdy likely will be missing as he had a knock, is back in training but likely to be bench at best.

Defensively we've been excellent, its the other end that had been the problem so not expecting a classic!

Gime Toure signed from Hartlepool, looks like you're thinking of Ibou Touray who's still at Salford.

While we're starting to look decent at the back we still have errors in us. An error can be made in midfield, as the one that cost us against Scunthorpe was, and immediately put the defence on the back foot.

Farman in goal is a rare example of a keeper for whom shot-stopping isn't his strength. You see loads of keepers who frustrate fans with positioning, communication, command of his box and distribution and those defending him will say 'well he's a good shot stopper', to which you reply 'surely that's the minimum you expect from a keeper'. Farman has been pretty decent at distribution and command of his box but he's just not a super agile goalie who's gonna pull off those worldy saves, if the striker gets given a bit of time on the ball then he's going to slot it comfortably out of Farman's reach. I can see an experienced striker like Pope having a field day against him.

We get no luck with anything even games we win we managed get 2 more players injured wouldn't surprised me if we lost to carlise to there 1 shot on target where somebody takes a shot hits somebody on the arse and goes in. This is after we have missed a hateful of chances or some normal crap keeper plays a blinder.

You get a lot of luck with games from the oppositions perspective. Just see the thread about what could have happened, or watch the highlights I posted on that game and you'll see you were lucky to not concede 1 or 2 pens plus the second goal had a foul in the build up. Luck definitely evens itself out over the course of a season though

Two away games for us. Expect we’ll get a hiding at Walsall and coronavirus again at Barrow.

We'll have more academy players this Saturday so it's 3 points to us.

Grimsby at home Saturday all being well. Evatt could get his bingo balls out again but i expect the same team that started against Harrowgate with the one exception Hickman in for Gethin Jones who is out until the new year.
We still look dodgy playing from the back and Crellins kicking is at times heart in your mouth.
If it gels we could win 4-1 or it could be 4-1 to 4rimsby if our defence gift them two or three goals.

I always think Cheltenham stuff Crawley no matter how each team is fairing at that point but I seem to recall we got something at Whaddon Road last season. Hopefully the tables are turned...in our case it would just mean the beer's on the floor.

Our defence is OK but our midfield let's runners go all day long so the defenders end up looking ropey. Nadesan and Frost up front look a handful and Nichols has 2 from 3 games since joining us and I'm sure he would want to put one over on Cheltenham as they didn't sign him this summer even though he had been on loan there.

2-1 The Robins in the CTFC Derby.

Casey

We got rid of two players during the week so I'm hoping for a signing...need a forward and a left back so well probably get a defensive midfielder.

We trained together today for the first time in two weeks. No idea what we'll be like or who will be selected, or even our formation. We do have more mid-fielders than you could wave a wet fish at though, so we might just play with 10 of them and see what happens! Notlob not setting the league alight yet, so hoping for a draw.

Good i hope they are all blowing after 60 mins.....Think Evatt may send on Gordon,Darcy and Isgrove the last 30 to run at your Defence

Dont you remember isgrove he crossed the ball when Luke Hendrie turned it into his own goal when you played Swindon last season......He took the Gloss off a comprehensive defeat for you!
Luckily I've wiped last season from my memory completely. This season is looking equally forgettable already!

Nichols was linked with us all summer as well.

You didn't get anything at Whaddon Road last season as we didn't play Crawley at Whaddon Road, but you did beat us at Crawley when Ollie Palmer scored in injury time. Crawley did win on the opening day of the 18/19 season though. In fact our last 3 games against Crawley they've won 1-0.

We're flying at the moment though. After losing to Morecambe on the opening day we've played 3, scored 7 and conceded 0.

We should be looking to win this week, but as our record against Crawley is so bad, I won't be counting my chickens.

No. The injuries and unavailability we have particularly in attack makes this game a no contest. It’s just too much. No contest.

Away to the Barrowers who are yet to find any consistency, we can't keep clean sheets for love nor money - Tuesdays nights one was only our 9th under Ross Embleton in around 50 games we've had under him in all competitions. In the league we've only kept 7 clean sheets under him :sur:

We've more or less always had to score 2+ per game to stand any chance of getting anything, I have no doubt we will still create chances as we usually do, but my god we cannot defend for shit. Lawrence Vigouroux in goal can usually only do so much.

Would not know .He never played for us and left to play for Carlisle
Will take your word for it i think you soon got shot of him
Shows how much of an impact he had at Bolton that you've completely forgotten about him returning to you after his loan with us ended.

We're absolutely awful and most of our defense and good strikers are still out injured which doesn't bode well.

I imagine this game will go like most under Cox. We will pass the ball around nicely and look like we're about to threaten but we won't actually test the keeper. Forest Green will then go forward for the first time and score. From then on we will give up and they will control the game.
