We were in the top 3 of league one For the few 3 months in 2010/11 after wining 3-2 at St Mary's. Finished just outside the play offs that season. Lets see any of you lot get relegated out of the conference North/south in 4 years time and see how you like it
Bristol Rovers were relegated from League 1 in 2010/11.

Rovers finished 11th in League 1 in 09/10 and 08/09 but were a long way from getting into the play-offs. In 09/10, you were 18 points off the last play-off position and in 08/09 you were 13 points off the last play-off position, so don't make out you were in a position to challenge for promotion to the Championship.

In summary, he hasn't got a clue.

I think he's getting confused with the proper team in Bristol ;)

The funny thing is that Bristol City had a far more disastrous descent in the early 80s. In the space of little more than 2 years they had sunk from Division 1 to the bottom of Division 4.

Spot on GTFC1979, think Stockport have had the biggest fall.
The day you guys went in 2001 England won away in Germany 5-1...
Ahh what a day that was! We beat Barnsley to go top then packed everywhere Saturday night, waiting to get served at the bar for nearly twenty minutes then soon as my pint was in my hand, bang, Gerrard 2 1, pint all over the floor!! :D :D

Tbf, we were in the play offs for half of the season until we sacked Lennie Lawrence and the downward spiral started. So I would say we were in a promotion, yes. The fact is, we've had 2 relegations in between 2011 to 2014 - 3 years; and our attendance has increased. Grimsby - the Mr. Big Bollocks of the league all of a sudden, dropped 9% in their first season in the conference. Yes, clubs have fallen further, and clubs haven't fallen as far; but according to Halifax fans, its a crime to only take 668 to some shit town in the middle of nowhere.

What they dont understand is that an average is an average of higher and lower attendances. No offence, but we couldn't care less about Halifax, so to take 10% of our home crowd is pretty impressive considering its one of our further games of the season. Be brutally honest, without doing this whole Luton thing, Halifax coming to us was a bigger game to them than it was for us in the reverse fixture. Just like if we played Sheffield United, its much bigger for us than it is for them. Thats just how it works.

Also, to top things off by saying 'You shouldn't be moaning, there are at least 20 other clubs that would rather be in your position' etc. So are Manchester United never allowed to complain? Because I'd rather be in their position than ours. So should I start guilt tripping them for only having to fight for the top 4 this season? Maybe I should on that logic.

Oh, and on a final note, to finish things off - to the Halifax fan that slated our away support on the day, check the averages! Our average away attendance is 12.5% of our home crowd. Halifax's is 10.8%. Like I said, an average is an average because some are higher, some are lower. On the day, ours was lower, on your day, yours was higher. But quite frankly, who the f*** are Halifax? :fish:

Because you are winning most weeks, people will watch a winning team regardless of the league. If you have a couple of years in this league your attendances will soon drop. Where did Grimsby finish in their first season?

I don't actually know, I just googled grimsby town attendances and the 3rd link was about dropping 9%. The point of the post was that we can all twist statistics in our favour, but I just felt it was harsh to say 668 was poor support for a 408 mile round trip. Especially considering our last 2 away games were Grimsby and Gateshead with our next being Macclesfield and Kiddy where Macc we will take about 1100 because it's 12.30 and on tv. Kiddy we'll take 1800 roughly, depending we haven't cocked the championship push.

So 668 in my eyes, is pretty damn good

I'd agree with that.

I don't recall any Grimsby fans saying it was poor (Infact I said the opposite), so whats this comment about 'Grimsby Mr big bollocks of the league' all about?!

Apologies, the point about saying it was poor was to the Halifax fan(s) who did, not yourself.

The Grimsby big bollocks was because you outdid us on the fall from grace, and that made me feel like we were comparing d*** sizes on who's the sh*ttest club :ffs:

Port Vale have lost to them as well and considering that they were in League 2 when it happened, surely that's an even bigger display of shitness than your losing to them in the FA Trophy?

Just had an interesting conversation (I won't say why it was interesting!) with my colleague who was the referrees accessor for the Eastleigh Barnet game on Saturday, reckons the ref was excellent despite it being his first time at this level but he made one major error which was failing to give Eastleigh a stonewall penalty in the 83rd minute.

When you watch the re-run you will probably have to admit he was right.
