We're all still waiting for FGR's romp to the title from last season after winning your first 9 games.

Watched our highlights, read our forum - looks like the whole team did well yesterday. I've seen this Barrow side 7 times now, and can confidently say it's the best we've had in the past decade. There's a lot more to come, we can afford to strengthen, and players like Ross Hannah still to get a proper run in the team.
No offence to Lincoln, but I'm glad we didn't sign Rhead. The forwards we've got instead are great, and both could make the step up with us, or be sold on for cash.

We've already won 3 away games this season, which is more than we have in entire seasons, Cox keeps talking about how his sides always start badly (4 wins and 2 draws in the last 6 though), which gives hope that we'll be a proper force once everything clicks, we're playing decent football now after some hoofball stuff earlier this season, and I'm sure we'll sign one or two good players in the next few months. I'd be surprised - and gutted - if we didn't make top 5.
Looked good when you got it down and played and didn't just lump it forward bit like ourselves.
Our manager has a similar record of starting slowly and getting better as the season goes on at his previous clubs.
Knocked too much into Rhead yesterday and wasted the abilities of our wide players.
Onwards and upwards.

After a solid enough start to the season for Maidstone, the last couple of results have been worrying at best surely? Home defeat to Bromley and a draw at home to Guiseley - not exactly big hitters...

You could also say the same about Gateshead, Home defeat to NFU, Home draw to Solihull. Think both will be fine though.

The results aren't as disconcerting as the performances. Our midfield is a disaster area at this point, and we're still not finishing as many chances as we should. We're hoping Joe Healy comes back and takes care of the middle, otherwise Dawes needs to go shopping again.

Bennett didn't look up to much but Harrison had a bit more about him and was probably your best player. Both will end up getting on the end of things because of the amount of balls you put into the box and their height but the former looked just your typical tall striker who runs around like a headless chicken to make up for his footballing deficiencies.

One your CB's, Diarra, looked like an accident waiting to happen at times.

Would you say you're concerned at this stage? Or are there enough poor teams in the league to keep you out of bother?

We dumped nine players at the end of last season. Since then we have recruited eleven newcomers including three loanees. It was always going to be an uphill struggle imo with so many new faces and being part time meaning just two evening training sessions per week.
We've been paying for that craziness all season but are improving albeit rather slowly.

I prefer to think Bennett's still just a bit raw after coming up a few divisions - he's definitely got a good shot on him, and is a bit like Andy Cook in that he doesn't look or play like a footballer, but scores goals.
Diarra though, we've already seen is an accident waiting to happen. That said, some on the Southport forum said he's among the best defenders they've ever seen at this level - he'll win everything in the air and has a good reach on him for slide tackles, but I'd still prefer a better footballing defender alongside Livesey.

We should be fine, I've seen enough good to think there's four worse teams in this league. It's only been two terrible shows and we do tend to play better away from home, so we'll see.

Very much in the 'okay' category for us too, hard worker but never had a noticeable influence on games.
How would you compare him to Bellamy? Because he's been one of our best players this season and it feels like we've definitely got the better deal.

Bellamy is more mobile and lot more versatile than Stevenson, and though am loather to knock anyone who puts in a proper shift, he shows little guile and even less inventiveness and that's what we are missing.
In part, am sure Bellamy left for the lack of game time he received following an injury, and the lad was always prone to an injury or two. Ironically if he had stayed, even if down to the fact that we are so short on numbers he probably would be a regular by now. But no one I know will speak badly of him, even though he was never a real mainstay in the team, similar to tyhe fact that no one really speaks badly of Stevenson, he's just so 'okay' and we are crying out for more than okay in the middle!

North Ferriby defended valiantly yesterday. On another day we could have had a few more, but compared against some of the teams we've faced so far this season, they did a far better job.

Wouldn't be surprised if they stayed up.

If they continue being 'plucky', I could see it. I'm not sure though. They had very little quality and I don't see them improving where as I think a few others down there will improve

Fairs, others probably have the resources to improve and the experienced campaigners with that bit more nous, a la Gary Jones at Southport, but there's something to be said for that tight knit team spirit that I imagine Ferriby have. Crack on at home and grind a few results away, as they've shown they can do, and you never know. Believe they've beaten/drawn against most around them that they've played, and given they faced some difficult teams, 10 points from 11 isn't a bad return.

We haven't got a bigger budget than you. You're living off your parachute payments. They won't last forever and don't forget we thrashed you at ours.

Parachute payments are currently being used to service the debts we now have due to relegation (Still paying previous manager and that new away stand loan) and not being used on the budget for the team. Have a look at the players we have signed, all from down the pyramid and on peanuts. Ask yourself this you get 600-700 more than us at home and you've got a smaller budget?

You beat us well done, where are you in the league?

I think it is a first this season for Guiseley that one of their players, goalkeeper Johnny 'SuperTed' Maxwell (on loan from FGR), has been included in the Non League Paper's 'Team of the Day'
I also think that subsequent to SuperTed's move up north, Guiseley have picked up their only 3 points of season.
Let's hope he helps motivate a revival in that club's fortunes.

Fully deserved imo, didn't have as much to do in the second half, but he single handedly kept them in the match with his display in the first 45.

Our budget is £300k-£350k, fan owned and completely reliant on our gates.

If yours is less I'll be surprised.

Is it just a coincidence that 6 opposition players came off injured in the 2 games played on plastic pitches at Sutton and Maidstone?

BAN THEM. Though I suspect reliable refs will act in the best interests of the league and do their "moral duty" if either of these even think of threatening the playoffs. And Maidstone still haven't done anything about their TINY goalposts I see.

I've noticed that players from the ex-league clubs have struggled a lot more on our pitch than players from the conference south did last season. And they tend to whinge about it more (only one Conf South club complained about the pitch last season, Gosport)

Still waiting on that home advantage having a plastic pitch is supposed to confer too.
