The problem with going super cheap, in the 4-4.5M bracket is that if they don't play, they devalue by 0.1M very quickly which is essentially a 0.5M hit if you want to get rid of them. I might be wrong, but I don't see a single 4M defender nailed on to start the first day of the season.

Not quite true. Players increase and decrease in value based on the number of transfers in and out of that player. If you sign a 4m player that doesn't play and people get rid of them, then they lose value. Those drops are made at different triggers so you should keep an eye on the trans in/outs of players you're interested in buying/selling throughout a season. So what that means in theory is if you want to get 4m players which you don't intend to really use then it's actually best to go for the players you know nobody else wants. This will reduce the chance of them losing value as they won't be jettisoned in the amounts needed to trigger the drops.

Currently Baker at Villa is 4m and has been selected by 15.3% of sides. Tiendalli at Swansea on the other hand is only selected by 0.5% of sides. I'd assume the majority of people getting Baker in have bought him with the idea that he'll play after featuring a number of times last season, whereas Tiendalli only got 129 minutes for the season so people won't really expect him to play. If neither do then Baker will be sold on by a decent number of players and his price will drop. Tiendalli will likely stay the same as he's not being selected to play, merely to fill the squad.
The problem of course is if there is a 4m player that plays frequently and gets points, as all players will sell whoever they have at 4m in order to get the better player, and then no one is safe.

Cheers, JJ. Wasn't Morgan a doubt, injury wise, a week or so ago? Is he fully fit now? I might be confusing him with someone else.
He was a doubt due to playing for Jamaica but I think he's clear at the minute. Hes said so himself anyway and there's no reports to say he's not ready. Saying this, I actually have Huth in instead of him.

Oh really? I knew players values fluctuated due to ownership drops/rises, but for some reason I also thought they dropped if they weren't playing. Need to have a re-read of the rules. Do you, to or anyone, happen to know if the scoring system has changed much?

Another reason I was edging towards Huth was because I was thinking he carries a better goal threat than most 4.5M defenders, however having just checked the previous two seasons Morgan has outscored him. Albeit one of those seasons Morgan was in the Championship and Huth didn't play as many times as Morgan last season, however you're going back to 2011/12 when Huth used to score a fair few for a defender.

Don't think you're doing enough research for this tbh

Haha, I finished below two Canadians and an American in my main league last season. Need to rectify that this season!

I'll sign up to this now. Always do my Fantasy Teams late, just incase any late signings come in.

I'm going to move this thread to the General Chat, but will leave a redirect link here for a week. Hope you Premier League folk' don't mind, just thought it would be a good idea to get others to participate as well, and increase the competition.

Cheers!

I'd get Berahino in to replace Sakho, Lee. I think he is also 6.5.

I did have a look at Berahino and in the same instance noticed Lambert at only 6 million. I can't resist that with his goal record when being a first choice striker. Sakho goes out and another 0.5 saved for if I need to get Aguero in desperately at any point.

I've also taken out Sterling after much debating and gone with Ozil. I just have a gut feeling that this is going to be his season in England.

I had Sanchez, Bolasie, Berahino and Kane in my first draft, but since the first is injured and looking at initial fixtures I've changed them to Fabregizzard, Mane, Rooney and Pelle. Southampton hopefully get off to a similar start to last season, with decent fixtures I think they'll grab some points. Hoping to bring Sanchez back into the fold before his price rises, so he better not be a surprise starter and get motm or some shit.
Bolasie and Berahino will be two of the best value players over the season I reckon. 6.5m for both is nothing. My gamble is Ibe at 5m, but I'm confident he'll do well. I'd like to get Mata and/or Depay in for 8.5m but until we see how LvG sets up for the league I'm gonna wait on them and see which of them plays off Rooney.

Ibe is a decent call. Seen a few sources speculating about whether or not he will start against Stoke. Definitely considering Bolasie also. Got Lens in now as a £6.5M, which is a bit of a gamble but Sunderland's opening fixtures made the decision for me. Bolasie is one I will be looking at replacing him though, after GWs 5 or 6ish. Palace have got quite a few options though, which puts me off a tad. Wickham and Bamford coming in could push Gayle out wide, meaning it's two of Bolasie/Puncheon/Zaha/Gayle for those spots. Will be looking to see how they use Cabaye, as he's nailed on to start but whether or not Pardew plays him advanced or not will probably decide how popular a fantasy league choice he is. With regards to Mata/Depay, the amount of people who have selected them is surprising. Deeply was on about 25% and Mata just 8% last time I checked. Scott Sinclair at £5M looks like a potential bargain for me. With Delph gone, I think they'll be looking to him as their main source of creativity especially in the early stages of the season while their Premier League newbies are bedding in.

Couple of things I noticed while checking the rules. There's no January specific wildcard this season, just a first half of the season one and a second half of the season one. You also can't play more than one of your boosts in the same week. This includes your wildcards too. This makes the GW1 bench boost even more appealing for me. I think I've got a squad at the moment were all 15 players will start, which sounds fairly rudimentary but a) it's not something you have control over and b) using transfers to sort out subs during the season is kind of frustrating.

Right. Here's my team i think i will stick with. Any suggestions?

Cech
Janmaat Ivanovic Huth

Larsson Sinclair Hazard Henderson Bolasie

Rooney Aguero (i'm waiting for Man.City press conference to confim if he is fit or not, either way he'll either be in the starting XI or on the bench.)

Bench: Schmeichel Francis Morgan Naismith (might replace him if Aguero is unfit, not sure though.)

You son of a bitch. I thought I had everything sorted for the first week. Now I'm going to be thinking about this for the next 24 hours.

Go to pick your team for the next week and you can choose, just below the pitch graphic, who is your captain and vice captain for that particular week.

I removed Mahrez for Bolasie. Bolasie didn't start and Mahrez scored 2. ;(

Made my transfer, i think Spurs will keep a clean sheet agaisn't Stoke so i have taken out Ivanovic (because Chelsea are playing Man.City yet and won't keep a clean sheet.) and put in Vertonghen. Hopefully it works.

Happy with 3rd in the overall table after the first game week.

Coutinho, Cabaye and Yaya Toure as a midfield trio have worked a treat!

Slow start for me, no one in my team has scored a goal yet. Swapped Aguero and Fabregas in for Rooney and Hazard, wanted to get Aguero in case his price goes up massively.

Decided to play my wildcard as I just wasn't happy with my team:

Mane out, Payet in

I like Mane but with Southampton in Europe their league form seems like it's going to be a bit more up and down. Payet will be West Ham's main creative force I'm sure.

Ivanovic out, Williams in

More to free money up for the next transfer this one.

Lambert out, Aguero in

I thought I'd get Aguero before his price rockets.

Depay out, Montero in

I wanted to keep faith with Depay but buying Aguero meant I needed a sacrifice in midfield and the fact United don't look full of goals led me this way.

Soares out, Whittaker in

Just a cheap defender in who will get the odd assist here and there and maybe the odd clean sheet at home.

Ward out, Souare in

Ward scored at the weekend so that's his goal quota surely done. I like the look of Souare, looks very attack minded.

Ruddy out, Courtois in

Courtois has dropped £0.1 after his torrid start. I can't resist him at £5.4 million. Chelsea will have far better days.

Walcott and Henderson out, Barkley and Coutinho in. Leaves me £1.1m in the bank and if valuations are the same at the end of the window I'll be able to do Giroud and Berahino out Benteke and Lukaku in with Kane already in my squad as the third striker.

League code in the OP doesn't seem to be working anymore - isn't recognised as a vaid code. Any idea why?
