1FF Grandstand

As many worked out, each line was a clue to a thread on 1FF and each thread had a post by me edited to give part of the 'verse' I wanted (put together in the order the lines were listed would have made sense and would have been the answer).

I knew it was challenging but thought over the course of a couple of days there would have been some progress but in my attempt not to make it too easy, clearly went the other way.

We had ideas for a few of the threads to look in, didn't find any clues until Magic was a bit more specific about what we should be looking for this morning.

The answer was:

The great wild west was hot and lonely but Joe was brave and would battle all comers.
He would not be defeated and will be crowned the winner of the midweek battle.

Only Munkiki got it but oh well. For the eight lines, they were clues to a 1FF thread and in that thread I had edited a post of mine to include a few words of the solution at the bottom...put all eight together and you would get the answer.

The threads were:

Joe first got off to a cracking start in his quest for glory: Championship First Goalscorer (Joe was Joe Mason in this case )
Oh to be a fly on the wall of his great life: Documentary thread.
His dulcet tones graced all around him: Vocaroo thread (the part of the answer was in the shape of a vocaroo for those who found the thread but not the answer).
And his peers wondered if he should be honoured with a change of name: General Chat Renamed.
His critics would suggest they'd rather have him killed: The Death Penalty thread.
With his blood leaving his body at will: Blood Donation thread.
But that was not Joe's style, he would dispel the dissidents and win the great race: Grand National thread.
His search deep in side himself beared the fruit needed to succeed: Search Yourself on Google thread.

Yeah it was hard/didn't really work but oh well.

Plan for this week is thus...

I am working nights Tues/Wed/Thu/Fri so this might run over a couple of nights as I have to go to work at like 8.45pm every day until Saturday...will see how much we can get done tomorrow 7pm-ish but it's likely to run through to Wednesday at least. Will be something more akin to what has been in the past I think and hopefully can get back on track this week.

Which ones did people struggle with the most?

Took me a while to get the first one (I found 6 others before it). I was looking in forum game threads like Hunger Games, Sheep, NOTW, GSM etc to see if JoeJoeJoeJoe had started well in any of them. Eventually I found the post in first goalscorer and then realised I'd been after the wrong Joe.

Then the fourth one I didn't get until Veggie told me it's not about a user changing their name. Up until then, I'd been searching for threads where name-changes had been requested or where old changes had been talked about. So thanks to him for the assist!

The rest were pretty straight-forward, I thought.

I was at a total loss, just couldn't get my head around it at all.
I'm absolutely useless with riddles such as, but salute Magic for coming up with that. Extremely clever.

I found the Vocaroo one the most obvious, the others I got were blood donation and renaming general chat. I was spent all my time looking in GC which was clearly my biggest problem!

Actually gonna send them all to teams. Half tonight, half tomorrow so I'm not rushing about before work. They'll be up some time between 8 and 9, and the winners etc are the team to have everything correct in the quickest time. Ordered 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. The same again tomorrow so in essence there are two rounds rather than one.

You have to submit your answers as quick as possible in team threads. However, once your final list is sent, any wrong answers will punish you so try make sure they're all right...but don't be too slow!

The fastest team to have them all correct win, and then the next quickest etc. Any teams with less than 100% will go down below ALL teams who have more marks, even if they were behind them with speed.
