I'd suggest leaving it 4 days to post the next lot up...get each lot of pools done before the next. Would take longer but to have a decent vote it needs to be quite long to work

I can't believe I missed the White Stripes off my list. Glad someone put Elephant down. Hope someone also put White Blood Cells, The White Stripes and De Stijl down too.

This feature has been great so far for expanding my horizons on music and remembering some old, forgotten classics.

Looking forward to seeing/hearing what else has been chosen.

Agree. Added some stuff to check out later when I get a chance to check them out fully.

I must say that this competition is introducing me to some great bands that I'd never even heard of before.

No a day goes by without remembering albums I have left off my list. Hope somebody else has nominated a couple of these albums. I'm thinking Talk Talk's Laughing Stock and esp. Spirit of Eden which is simply beautiful and one of the first post rock albums. I also left off Depeche Mode's Violator, which I consider to be their best work, Tago Mago by Can, King Crimson's Court of the C.K., The Damned's Machine Gun Etiquette and JD's Unknown Pleasures

Perhaps Paul Haddock will be so kind and let us all select up to say 50 or 60 choices next year?

Before I do the last set of pool, a question to all voters:

If we followed the same format as the other pools, we'd have 4 days of waiting which I'm sure none of us want. Would we all be happy to move the deadlines forward to where the previous bunch of pools also ends? Remember, the last 4 pools have 6 albums in each. I'm fine with either way.

Also, the 68th pool: as there are 67 albums once the pools are done, we need to whittle it down to 64. So another pool will be done of the lowest scoring pool winners and the top 3 out of 6 will give us our 64 teams. Seeing as we'll know the albums and what they're about, it should be a straightforward vote and it will have a days deadline.

Responses would be appreciated.

You're the one in charge Paul, so if you want to move the deadlines forward then fine.

ps - can you please not put any of my album choices in the last 4 pools? I'm having a hard time already in a 5 album group let alone 6. Ta! :10:

Ok...

Ill try and get the first of the pools of the last 64 up tomorrow but I still need to do the draw. For this stage, there will be 16 groups of 4; 8 will be posted and you'll have two days to vote on it and then the second 8 will be posted. Top 2 from each go through.

I'm not running this but I would like to thank every one of you for taking part. I'm all for discovering new music as to me music comes first and foremost (yes, more important than footy) and there were a few albums I had never listened to properly before, so I checked these out and liked what I heard. There were also quite a few which I had in my collection but hadn't listened to for quite some time - the likes of OMD, Kraftwerk, White Noise and so on.

So yeah, while I may come across as an arse when I'm discussing music, I sure appreciate your nominations. Except perhaps.....no.. I better not ;)

Thanks Paul H for taking the time to run this. Much appreciated.

Agreed Manni, although most of the artists aren't new its a great way to have a listen to stuff that might have passed you by.

Last 64 are done. The proper format beings when I've done a few write ups, which could be tomorrow or Friday. Since I'm doing posts anyway, the like system will be used.

If your album(s) has made it through, you can send me your favourite song from the album that I can put with the post. If that could be done as soon as, that would be great.

Sorry but there won't be an update tonight. Just got in and I'm knackered. Will be 2 or 3 groups tomorrow though.

Can you leave the voting open for a few more days please? Yes, I konw that you've already closed one section but but a lot of us haven't been able to access the forum for a few days and it's hardly fair. I'm currently accessing via Saddlerad's recommended bypass and the poll isn't viewable for me. Oh, and if the forum has to roll back to June, you might lose all the records so please save them all offline.

Write ups are DONE. Sorry it took a lot longer than expected.

We can get this done quickly now. I'll post two knockout matches per day with a song example.
