Big game for the mighty U's today again v Wigan; win this and we are nearly safe, lose it and it will be much tighter, as I fully expect one or more of Vale, Cheltenham and Burton to get points today (Exeter and Cobblers are safe and may be relaxing on the beach, and Barnsley are totally lacking in confidence at the back although still very useful going forward)
Hoping for a good follow up to Friday's much improved performance...
I'm glad you feel we are on the beach, a few on exeweb are still having jitters.

we've given ourselves a fighting chance with a battling performance at burton and a genuinely very good performance by bristol rovers. need to keep building on it. Northampton are probably a good team to play. we fuck it up against the shite teams and get dominated by the top teams, so a team already safe in mid table probably suits us at this point.

tough game though they've had a great run after a bit of a ropey start if i remember correctly.

id snap your hand off for a point now, 3 would be very good but you can't write us off gifting a few goals away.

we seemed to have finally adapted our playing out from the back on friday, where we attempt to play out but when we come under heavier pressure we clip balls into the striker or for the wingers to run on to, it worked quite well and took a lot of pressure off our defenders who aren't comfortable passing it round under pressure. hopefully that was a tactical decision and not a lucky coincidence.

I feel Cambridge and Cheltenham are primed to get something from both their games. Truth be told I’m not really interested in relying on others to help us. If we are to survive we need to do it ourselves. Remember last season at the Valley we lost 3-2 (and it really wasn’t as close as that sounds) and felt pretty cringeworthy celebrating when Barnsley went 5-4 up at MK to confirm our survival.

The ideal scenario would be us and Cambridge both need a point to stay up last day then enjoy 90 minutes of keepy-uppies in the centre circle but that’s probably a pipedream.

40 mins of absolute dominance. 1 deflected long shot and it’s 1-1. Pretty much us in a nutshell since the new year.

Decent enough game at Sixfields. Cracking finish from Pinnock to give us the lead but Vale look bright and have had the better chances. Both teams giving it back to each other with alarming regularity.

We’re just oh so predictable. At some point you know we’ll give the opposition an opening and sure enough. Good finish by their lad in fairness. Not that we’ve been bad but need to step it up further.

We’ve been diabolical so far, can count ourselves lucky we’re on level terms. Results going against us again so it’s crucial we get another point here to keep us ticking over and another game crossed off, three points would be huge though. We’re just so off the pace, need to up our game second half or Rovers will win this.

Both sides look poor tbh. We can't seem to score so 0-1 from a bad mistake incoming 2nd half

Don’t get the passing out from the back, inviting trouble and it doesn’t look like you’ve got the players for it

As predicted we are firmly on the beach. Horrible error from Brynn for Posh’s opener and their second looked miles offside but I’m not at a good angle for it. Either way we gave up. Hopefully we’ll show a bit of professional pride in the second half.

Aaron Collins hat trick. Starting to look the real deal now. Slowish start and looked to be lacking confidence when he first arrived but really kicking on now

story of the season, individual errors and poor finishing away from a win.

756 i think the away following was. the fans have certainly stuck with the team this season, that's for sure.

Far from the worst we’ve played but ultimately not good enough. Cobblers with a breakaway in stoppage time to maybe make it look a bit harsher in terms of the scoreline. Suppose would have taken 6 points from the last three games if offered but need to get something at Wigan really.

Played much better second half and should have scored a couple of goals. Both teams hitting the woodwork second half in a game which could have gone either way but a draw was a fair result.

Cheltenham, Port Vale, Burton all losing and us putting another point on the board has us almost over the line. Can’t see us getting relegated from here, happy bank holiday!

Very pleasing resilient away performance against a talented Blackpool side with slick passing.

We rotated heavily with one eye on the Tinpot final, but still put in a really decent shift without a hint of beach mentality or shirking challenges.

Think we’re set up as well as can be for next week.

Never saw the number announced and not too bothered what it was. My issue is the quality of the support, that was fucking dire from us. Too many people sitting down at an away game, need better than that.

A really poor game down at the Valley, with the 0-0 scoreline summing it up. A complete lack of creativity for us and likewise for Stevenage bar a few good crosses into the box. 8 points clear of the relegation zone now.

Relatively comfortable second half, Ikpeazu with a one on one the only big Vale chance but a blatant foul on Guthrie in the build up so justice done there I think.

It felt there was an odd lack of urgency from all at Vale second half, never really any concerted pressure and nothing really from the away end. Felt very toothless. But still everyone else losing keeps them in touch.

Lincoln are SHIT

They only beat us by getting lucky with a breakaway and then a set piece.

If they get promoted then they'll get absolutely annihilated in the Championship.

Important for us to get the win at Carlisle, fully expected our unbeaten run to end today.

Great to have Erhahon back in the middle, frustrated to see Jensen pull out in the warm up but great chance for Wright in goal.

Carlisle starter brighter of the 2 with Butterworth (?) having a long ranger saved. We went 1 up after 10 and for rest of the first half was very comfortable. We probed and looked for a 2nd and well worth lead at the break.

Carlisle came out 2nd half and had a ridiculous amount of chances (at least 3) including hitting the post in first 5 mins. A defensive mix up and Taylor scores a cracking solo effort at the right time. 2-0 up.

Carlisle looked decent going forward rest of the 2nd and got the goal they deserved with 10 to go. You then think it's going to be backs against the wall, especially with 8 minutes injury time. However far from it, managed time very well with a great free kick from Bishop to cap it off.

Carlisle will be pleased with their 2nd half effort for sure, but must be frustrated they didn't push on final 10.

Considering Oxford won as expected, we have gained 2 further points on Blackpool and Stevenage.

Another game down, 5 to go. That game at Oxford looks massive.

We didn't play well today, but by far the most dangerous first half, and managed the game well for final 10. You did well from 46 until you scored at 80, then for some reason faded?

Looks like you've got good attacking options for next season, but very shakey at the back.

Pleased we didn't get to relegate you today.

Fair, think we slipped into a bad habit of too much sideways stuff. Uche got some minutes to build up his fitness after a long layoff so suppose there’s that. Got to applaud the job Brady has done with you though. Top half finish if you get it is an excellent return back to L1.

Ultimately no harm done other than Cambridge got another great result but margin for error getting thinner.

As expected got beaten by the better side, hung in there and made a fist of it second half, nearly stole a point with Steer saving well from Galbraith and Agyei missing a free header near the end, but in truth we should've really been dead and buried before that.

Posh are a good side, but do seem to have this mentality issue in games where they seem to collapse a bit.

Yeah definitely too much sideways. Uche looked a handful but didn’t really get any service, only one to really get at Guthrie and give him a test. Saw him moaning a few times he wanted it to feet instead of in behind, agreed with him tbf.

Yep Brady has done an excellent job, next season will be interesting as it’s clearly a tricky one for promoted clubs from history.

Well after conceding 73 goals I guess you would have a decent understanding of that.

Certainly not at our best again the last couple of games, but 6 points gained, 15 unbeaten and 5 wins on the trot getting into the play offs from nowhere.

Still expect us to somehow not make it come the end of the season but it bodes well for the next one regardless. Then if we can have a better bit of luck re injuries and keep most of the squad together which is something we should be better equipped for, then we go again.

Think we just about edged it over the 90 mins, purely over goal scoring chances but I agree a draw was fair. It was more of an open game than I was expecting though

That referee is the biggest fucking cheating c*** I have ever seen in my life.
Hard to argue. Even accounting for their penalty being the right decision - and I'm one of a few who thinks that (including Alex Hartridge apparently) - at least two of the penalty decisions he didn't give us were absolutely criminal.

First half we weren't in the game and Exeter could have been a couple up, but they weren't and for the second half I felt we were the better team. To have a ref be so crucial in the outcome is absolutely criminal.

Still, another apology letter will make up for the lost points I'm sure!!
