Well, I don't think either keeper had a save to make before Wigan scored with pretty much their only shot of the night, via a big deflection that wrong-footed our keeper. That proved to be the kick up the arse we needed, and there was pretty much only one team ever going to win it from then on. Wigan's time wasting came back to haunt them.

For pretty much the last three games we've not been great, and we've got seven points. That's promotion form, especially since nobody else seems to want it.

Absolutely agree with this 100%. Poor game first half but thank god Wigan scored when they did - couldn't see us scoring otherwise. It was all us afterwards with efforts cleared off the line, numerous corners etc. Wigan defended for their lives but thankfully we nicked it just before the end.

Yep, we were poor again tonight, last four games we have been well under par, three of those in the league with 7 points, one away in the cup which we lost but funnily enough we played well. That’s why football is so unpredictable!

Just had a look at #crewealex on twitter. Best team in the league again by the looks of it. Do people not learn? Why is there no middle ground with Crewe fans?!

I think the first half was summed up by the HT stats of no shots on target, no chances, no crosses!

Shame to lose Bridcutt again after getting injured in training yesterday, then Jackson tonight. Both sound fairly minor, so hopefully not too long out because we need everyone this month, the games are crammed in.

As Branston says, weird how our best performance in the last four games has been with a weakened side in the FA Cup, which we lost but have just about done enough in the other games with a stronger side and won.

Not quite sure how we've managed to hang around the top for so long this season but it'll be an interesting second half to the season if we can maintain it through December and get a striker in, in January. The Morton injured early doors has basically left us with one striker who's strength is linking the play and not actually scoring so it's not a surprise we're not overly prolific but we create chances for someone to tuck away.

It's mad - had to stay away for the last few days. Yes, the 3 games before tonight were disappointing but the overreaction to a couple of defeats was insane!

A packed Balbo of airborne Tamworths and Gloucester Old Spots was reported over South West Devon tonight, while Lord Lucan' sdressage demonstration (starring Shergar) was a half time highlight at Home Park. Or summat.

Average age of our first team could be as low as 21/22 tonight.

12 senior, and arguably 11 of them starters, all injured. Crisis is an understatement.

Will be tough tonight. Dobra league debut though, he'll cause Oxford issues.
It’s a miracle. We kept a clean sheet!

Marginally the better side however under no illusions we are a very poor side. Defensively we are diabolical, we kept a clean sheet by default really. Saved only by an inept offensive threat even more inferior than our own non-existent effort!

Most sides just shoot and will generally score, though the introduction of Jack Stevens replacing Simon Eastwood probably helped.

in summary... My word, that was a bland game.

Frustrating night for the Cods with dominant possession but nobody able to put the ball in the back of the net

I liked Joey Barton's post match comments, resolute defending by the home side and an outstanding performance from their goal scorer ( and former Fleetwood player ) Cian Bolger, with another ex Cod player in the team Jack Sowerby it was a night to savour for the hosts - good luck to them going forward

Agreed with Barton’s summary. You lot moved the ball well but didn’t really have the killer instinct and we defended very well. 7 points from 9 with a tough run coming up over Christmas, starting to look a bit better defensively now.

Good win against a surprisingly out of sorts Pompy . It's nice to be controlling games against the so called better teams.

Agreed. This performance was unexpected as we've been creating plenty of chances recently. Looks like you snuffed us out well.

Worryingly, this was the first of five tough games to see if we are genuinely in with a top two chance this season. So far, the answer is "No" - but we'll see how the next four games go.

Depends what players he selects . We have a large squad of capable players. We have won 7/8 . I could be wrong . There is nothing to fear in this division. Our awful start is always on the back of my mind . Fleetwood next . Let's smash em.

You'll be up there . Best team we have played .

Very much the second best tonight, the only surprise is that we are only losing 1-0

Thought we might have snatched an undeserved point but a bad mistake by Lumley gave Hull a deserved 3 points

Ipswich must be awful.

We are getting worse and worse, completely played off the park by MK.

Only Hull are now winning consistently at the top. Below them it's a log-jam of mediocrity.

To be fair though, we're seeing this through all the divisions. Two games every week, with covid-impacted squads seems to be making it difficult for any team to get a rhythm going.

Well I thought that you were the second best team that we've met so far this season. Streets away from Hull, but everyone is. Despite your midfield being overpowered last night, the defence looked organised and you carried a threat albeit not getting any breaks apart from Pratley's bar rattling lob at the death. Amos is one of the top keepers in this division and he showed it in flashes, although he'll be disappointed by the goal. You just met us on a night where Fraser and Gladwin both turned up.

Funny things, opinions

We are still capable of occasional poor performances, and we are still only converting a very small proportion of good chances, but it does seem like we are the strongest team. We have some very good players at this level (Burke, Smallwood, Honeyman, Wilks for example), probably the strongest squad with a good enough replacement in every position, and no obvious weak areas. As a counter-argument, we were eighth in January and ended up bottom so chicken need to have hatched, gone through school, and got a job before we count them.

Worst performance of the season for us.

We never closed you down and just let you run through us at will. Amos kept us in it, we should have been dead and buried long before you scored but that’s the only area I would criticise your side, in the final third, after doing all the hard work to get to our box you were wasteful.

We were so slow and never got anything going. We had a few half chances in the second half but I can’t remember an actual shot at goal other than Pratley’s.

Fraser was excellent and I think that kid you had in front of the defence (Sorinola?) was good, seemed to get in front of attackers and get to the ball first every time.

We were so frustrating but taking nothing away from MK, comfortably the better side and well worth the win.

It would have been Kasumu playing the Kante role. Sorinola was the wingback on the left who drew the three yellow cards. Both excellent on the night and improving game by game.
