Swindon will host an improving Grimsby under Ollie (as he likes to be called). Home win, but a lot closer than our home defeat to them earlier in season.

Over 500 travelling fans all with hope more than expectations of a positive result for us. Confidence is high within the squad though, so we might be just upset the odds and nick a point.

Massive test for us on Saturday. Swindon were by far the best League 2 team I've seen this season when they came to BP in early December and won at a canter 3-0.

However, we're a different animal now under Ollie and it'll be a big test to how far we've come under him.

Anything on Saturday will be a bonus. We could nick a draw but I'm going for a narrow 2-1 defeat.

Should be a home win - considering our record of 12 wins from 13 against bottom half teams.

Got to admit you were dreadful at your place. If you come to play football, as I expect, should be a good game.

We will lose but we will play football. As Ollie says if we lose, we'll lose with a swagger style and I'll say well done to whoever beats us.

We are playing good attacking football but it's mostly still the same players that have got us into the bottom half. So unless Swindon have an off game they should win, but at least we will attack rather than just roll over, and we can look forward to more enjoyable football until end of season and hope he gets some good players in next season.

It really is a beautiful feeling when a new manager takes over and all of a sudden results and performances pick up aint it. And it's even better when the massive improvement comes with more or less no additions to the first team squad; the same one his predecessor had to work with.

Similar to what the others have said I expect a defeat here but I also expect us to play well and for it to be a much closer defeat than the annihilation Swindon dished out to us at Blundell Park.
The last 2 seasons at Swindon we’ve been completely outplayed yet somehow managed to win one and draw one so you never know.

That’s Vale this season down to a tee.

Glennon, Benson, Clarke, Grandin, Garmston, Tilley all players brought in by Ollie and all decent players too. Plus Charles Vernam is a totally different player now. The team that takes the field on Saturday will be quite different from the one that took the field at BP in early December.

Well, you’d better not get another one of these

Apart from being outside the area and your fella falling over his own feet, then I agree!

Someone threw a meat pie at me once while sat happily/jumping up at Swindon, I think we equalized to make it 3-3. Can't have been a Grimsby fan, we don't chuck pies around, all far to lardy the waste a pie!

Glennon is a direct replacement for Gibson who I thought was our best player before he left, though Glennon is better. Clarke and Benson I will give you. Grandin only got his first start last match and Garmston has had one game and didn't do that well for me, though comparing him to Glennon is harsh!

Limbrick recalled Verman but yes our attacking play certainly favours Verman...though to be devils advocate, I think we would have had at least 2 more goals on Sat and possibly beaten Bradford if Verman didn't try and do everything himself and looked up and squared the ball to a team mate in the box!

We are certainly playing a lot better, but I still think we are a long way of having the players to be a top 10 side, I hope Ollie can get rid of a few and bring a few more in, in the summer.

Oh and the Swindon game is the only game this season I havn't watched so don't know how bad we were or how good Swindon were, but we improved a lot under Limbrick just had no attacking threat, I believe this was one of his games we were quite poor reading reports, or at least made to look poor.

We are certainly more able to pass the ball but I’ve a feeling our defence is going to get caught on the ball as they’re currently the weak point. We’ve got decent footballers now who can actually create chances and we’re deserving wins rather than scraping them. And Holloway has managed it in 6 weeks.

I do think we’ll lose as Swindon are just too solid as a unit but I think we’ll at least score a goal. A similar performance to the Morecambe game would suit me.

If the car passes it's MOT and the servicing doesn't uncover any expensive problems on Friday, I will be at Swindon for the big match.

My first since we won 1-3 at Exeter back in September last year. I was in Plymouth for the cancelled game though.

Same result?

Glennon and Gibson still different players though. I'm fairly sure that Glennon, Clarke and Benson will all start and I'm fairly sure Grandin will too after his impressive debut on Saturday. That's almost half of the outfield 10 that'll be different so to say that it's mostly still the same players that have got us into the bottom half is a bit inaccurate really.

I disagree with the majority here, I reckon we'll get something from this. We're not going down, we're not going up. Pressure all on Swindon with us playing well. We have no reason to fear anyone and I think we'll cause problems for most teams we face for the remainder of the season.

Limbrick recalled Verman but yes our attacking play certainly favours Verman...though to be devils advocate, I think we would have had at least 2 more goals on Sat and possibly beaten Bradford if Verman didn't try and do everything himself and looked up and squared the ball to a team mate in the box!
...we also wouldn't have won at Colchester.

A quote from their forum..

I just sat through all the goal and chances from the last 5 games involving Grimsby.

My god there is some awful defending by them and against them, their keeper particularly looks quite weak, as he was in the match up there that we won 3-0 earlier in the season.

Time for Macca to have one of his stormers methinks!

Still going on about that penalty I see.

I'm not wumming or anything but he didn't fall over his own feet. There is a very subtle trip by the Swindon man if one cares to look closely. However, I think it was (possibly) just outside the box.

Plus, there hardly was any reaction at all from the Swindon players, and in most cases, that is a good indicator that a foul was indeed committed.
