None of your competition have the resources and depth, or in Brentford's case the bottle, to hold tough and put a run together. You to your credit (thru very clenched teeth) have consistently won games even when not playing well. Its in the bag sadly.

Swansea's form is pretty shit right now isn't it?

Is the prediction of them and Brentford winning 9 on the spin for real? When was the last time a team won 9 in a row at this level?

Watford to beat us 4-2.

Are you having a laugh?

How often do we score twice in one game?

Reading won 9 in a row in 2005/6 and Villa a few seasons ago.

Both have stopped scoring which is their issue like we had under Ivic who basically went into every game looking for a 0/0 or 1-0.

And we don’t score 4 too often !

I feel like my post was misunderstood. It wasn’t a prediction. I was just wondering if anyone knew what ranking criteria comes after points, goal difference, and goals for. Obviously there isn’t going to be a 3-way tie for second.

Swansea have just lost 3 in a row and Brentford have drawn 3 in a row, there’s not much there to suggest either could win 8 in a row - let alone both. It was just an example (no matter how unrealistic) of how they could all finish on same points, goals for and goals against.

Swansea away, looking at their recent results you would have to look at this one as a game where we could get something but then you have to remember that we're still shite and our team is full of gutless wankers.

Wasn't a fan of McAvoy's weird diamond, not with two wingers squeezed into it anyway. Could work if we played 4 midfielders I suppose, expect Alan Browne will come back in after his suspension with Barkhuizen dropping out. I'd like to see Whiteman back in for Johnson too who i'm fucking sick of.

Whiteman
Browne, Ledson
Sinclair

I think after those criteria would be head-to-head records, then maybe alphabetical order if somehow the teams involved had identical records against each other.

Of course, it's all hypothetical as there's no way it will happen given how both Swansea and Brentford's form has dropped off massively as of late.

I’m oddly looking forward to playing Rotherham tomorrow but then those games (where I’m keen to see it) generally tend to be the worst ones.

Games vs our fellow crapsters tend to generate into attritional midfield scrapathons high on spoiling and low on value as an actual sporting contest, but oh well, hope springs eternal, right?

So Barnsley again today - had a fair few battles with them over recent years. This being the 6th time we've played them in 3 years and we're actually unbeaten in the last 4. Today will be a far harder test against probably the best Barnsley side since they were in the Premier League... is that fair?

I'll be happy with a point today although Barnsley seemed to have tailed off a little in the last couple of games whereas our intensity dropped considerably on Friday. I don't think Jonesy would allow that twice in a row.

Interesting game today, think it could turn into a bit of a scrappy one with Barnsley high intensity press, could see both sides eventually going long to the respective big men available - Adebayo for us, Dike for them. Hope we can see some Lockyer, Bradley, Potts back in. The somewhat makeshift defence has done well but I think it’s reaching the end of its viable life now!

Having Lockyer back would be a big boost given he should be well motivated as he’s probably playing for his Wales place in the summer.

Well we were lucky today to get the 3 points.

An own goal and SW missed a sitter through Rhodes.

Kind of looked like we were playing just to hold on and not really push ourselves too much with tough games to come - Middlesborough away and an early kick-off on Monday.
Seems to be your turn when it comes to getting the rub of green at the moment (best time for it too). The goal to give you the lead in today looked incredibly fortuitous.

We had ours earlier in season (I remember back-to-back games where QPR/Barnsley missed sitters to equalise/win in dying moments - possibly also one of those games or another around that time a goal was disallowed for a non-existent foul on McGovern), then Brentford had a run of going a goal down before their opponents handed them the three points and Swansea with their run of penalties...

Ruddock playing number 10 and Cranie left back looks like from early stages so far. Little bit under the radar just how makeshift this is becoming!

Lucky to get a point - another away performance like most of the season.

Got away with it a few times.

We are much better at home .

We are definitely done for the season on this showing, no interest in combating the aggressive/intense pressing style of play Barnsley do so well. No composure just aimless hoofball to strikers who seem to think the aim of the game is to stand permanently offside.

Happy that none of this back 4 are going to be in those positions next season thats for sure!

Barnsley are really impressing me - very much a different side than everyone else in this division. A lot of kick and rush... absolutely zero time on the ball, the narrowest of narrow teams (heck there was 8 Barnsley players in one play on the half way line within about 10 yards of each other). The wind is really hindering too. They have a particular style and want to play 100mph.

You can see why they’re doing so well. Dike is seriously impressive, for a 20yo almost unknown too.

Yep they are impressive. Still moreso that they have been able to play this very aggressive pressing style in a season with so many games over short periods.
