QPR away.

Pearson looked like he fucked his knee against Cardiff, some suggestions it was bad cramp, others saying he's missing for a month, maybe two.

Presuming he's unavailable i'd go 5-3-2 as no one else can come in and do that sitting role.

Solid enough half, caused problems without any real chances. Riis looks very promising.

Definitely a penalty, it was a class run from Sinclair. Been very comfortable since going 1 up, need to avoid any stupid moments.

Funny old game !

3-1 but Foster been MOTM.

Blackburn have been very good attacking wise with their pace.

Well that was very easy, really organised performance and good movement up top which they struggled to cope with.

No performances to rave about, just disciplined and sensible.

Riis looks a very good addition.

Huddersfield away tomorrow, think we're top of the away table and bottom of the home one.

Their left back Toffolo likes to bomb on it seems so i'd probably play Barky, maybe in place of DJ who was nowhere near match fit on Wednesday.

Even if Davies is fit, i'd keep Storey in for this one, Davies is well out of form. No word on Fisher but would probably save him for our next home game when we need to go at teams more. Imagine Pearson is still out but no confirmation on his injury.

So Sheffield Wednesday (A) tomorrow - we could do with something out of this one after a bad week so far. James Collins going down with Covid-19 has proven chaotic; it emerged that the squad were unable to train and go through their normal protocols because of it, hence why none of the new signings played at Millwall. Collins should be back next weekend and is already on the exercise bike regaining some fitness.

There were signs against Stoke and Millwall that we were not learning the lessons of last season and old habits were creeping back in - crosses not being stopped and not being creative or clinical enough in the final third.

I did think since lockdown, our performances were papering over the cracks somewhat - the team playing for 1-0 wins and keeping it tight. I don't necessarily think with our resources that's always a bad thing; it seems to be many teams raison d'etre in this division.

I think there needs to be a number of changes from the side; hopefully some of the players out are on their way back. There isn't much choice in defence, but Lockyer should make his first league start. I'd drop Glen Rea, who in my opinion has had a poor start to the season. Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu gave the ball away so cheaply for Millwall's second is lucky to retain his place in my time. Danny Hylton also doesn't look like he will contribute with goals. We should also go back to a diamond which has served us so well over the last few years:

GK Simon Sluga
RB Martin Crainie
LB Rhys Norrington-Davies
CB Tom Lockyer
CB Sonny Bradley
DM Joe Morrell
CM Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu
CM Luke Berry
AM Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
ST Harry Cornick
ST Elliott Lee
Subs: James Shea, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Matty Pearson, Sam Nombe, Glen Rea, Jordan Clark, Kazenga LuaLua
Unavailable: Dan Potts, Brendan Galloway, James Bree, Eunan O'Kane
Not Used: George Moncur, Danny Hylton

Gary Rowett now has coronavirus.

Why teams are not doing the same level of testing as post lockdown is beyond me. It’s only a matter of time before it rips through another squad - and the team will get punished for it.

What is the point of separate changing rooms and staggered entry of the pitch if all you’re going to do is hug each other at the end of the game anyway. Footballers need to learn to really maximise social distancing.

There needs to be a bit of refreshing of the team from the last 2 games. Midfield in particular just hasnt worked in those 2 games especially midweek. I’d be surprised if we went to the diamond like that though, I think it was/is the plan but not sure it can be done effectively with Cranie at right back. Nothing against Cranie who I think has performed well so far it’s just asking a lot of him. With Bree back I can see it being effective. I think it will likely be same shape but with KDH/Morrell coming in for Berry/Rea. Despite recent teams it’s perhaps a smart bet for NJ to return to the diamond when under a bit of pressure but not sure about it myself.

Rea needs a rest - he’s done fairly well I think in terms of his screening job but in possession he’s been remarkably poor I think. Morrell looks like he progresses theball better from deeper than Rea does but defensively is relatively untested given the game states his come on in so far.

Judging from midweek comments I think Hylton will play too. Hope Cornick is fit but seems Hylton is the defecto replacement for Collins. Personally I think he did ok against Stoke and had no chance with the poor play behind him at Millwall so I won’t be wailing about it at 2pm if he is playing like I think a few might be.

I was wrong earlier to say we'd go back to the diamond - we have gone with 4 changes and to a 3-5-2 system which we were slightly better at v Millwall:

GK Simon Sluga
RCB Matty Pearson
CB Tom Lockyer
LCB Sonny Bradley
RWB Martin Crainie
LWB Rhys Norrington-Davies
CM Joe Morrell
CM Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu
CM Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
CF Danny Hylton
CF Elliott Lee
Subs: James Shea, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Luke Berry, George Moncur, Jordan Clark, Sam Nombe, Kazenga LuaLua

Could be Pearson right back and Cranie in midfield but would be surprise. Looks like 352 to me as well. Looks reasonably ok defensivley but a bit lightweight going forward. Be good to see how the 2 new lads perform from the off in midfield, we definitely looked to need the fresh legs in there.

Jack Marriott starts for Sheff Wed - that surprises me, because he looked like the player whom we sold to Peterborough when we played Derby a few weeks ago.

We look a different team to the one that showed up at Millwall. Should be ahead, had 2 absolute golden chances to be ahead but haven’t converted. The Pelly miss was particularly egregious to not even hit the target.

A little concerned that it’s shaping up similarly to last Saturday where we played well but didn’t convert chances and ended up being beat fairly easily.

Second half was a bit more even but overall a deserved win for us. Scored shortly after the sending off but dont think that was a particularly big factor in the win, felt we were in control of the game more or less throughout bar perhaps the first 15 minutes of the game, and even then we had a glorious chance 15 seconds into the game. Got a bit frustrated with us at the end as we had opportunities to break and kill the game with a second goal but refused to take them.

Pelly is just a bizarre player, worked hard all game, misses a sitter and his touch was off all day but then pops up with a brilliant touch and finish off his left foot for the winner! Classic Pelly.

Thought the 352 worked really well for us, Morrell, KDH played really well and Hylton was someway back to his nuisance making best as well. Overall a solid performance and win that was very much deserved.

That was a really good game.

We were the better team for most of the first half without really hurting them and then turned it round with a quickfire double just after half time, two really good finishes from Browne. Their red card was questionable but they still gave it a good go, both teams hit the woodwork and forced the keeper into saves.

Riis Jakobsen is fucking class, best player on the pitch by a mile and was gutted when his shot hit the bar, no idea how we've managed to land him.

Looooool

It was a harsh red though.

Edit - no it wasn't, there wasn't another Huddersfield shirt in miles.

I wouldn't be surpised to see that formation stick esp once the more attack minded Bree comes back in. Can see Rea as an option for Pearson. KDH and Morrel or Rae a deeper but still creative two, an attacking two and one up top.

Seems more fluid and changes with or without the ball. Nathan Jones def grown tactically and shown hes more than a one diamond trick pony.

Great win and while they had to defend a lot of crosses late on Im not sure I recall Weds had a real chance. Bannon always a standout player. How he never got a better Club than Weds is beyond me.

Great victory well needed after the last seven days. 12 points from 7 games for a team like ours is a really good start - only two points off the top 2!

The midfield was chalk and cheese from Tuesday. The new signings putting in a great performance - KDH looks like a really good prospect - neat and tidy, if unspectacular.

Hylton put in his best performance in 18 months - he should’ve scored after 15 seconds and really he did everything right apart from a perfect header from their defender off the line.

Totally agree, the shape just seemed to suit us far better and the team looked better balanced. Helps having 3 left footers as well in KDH, RND and Bradley taking up those left sided positions. Lockyer is also very good with the ball i notice, which means Pearson doesn't have to be and can focus on heading, kicking and organising the back 3/5. Really liked it and the flexibility it gave us.

I thought they might do better than they have. It was when we went a bit more defensive that we started winning and thats their style so really thought it would translate.

Obviously the gap is just too big for them to bridge though.

Standard Championship - have a day off. These teams are probably worth £100m combined.

I meant in terms of performance both from the teams and officials.

Was a scrappy competitive game with some incidents of controversy.

Draw was probably fair.

You have a chance. Its a brutal League where everything that goes against you is more often than not punished. You just gotta adjust, pick up points where you can and stay in touch with others in the same boat.

Your whole season is to be above three other teams by the end. Your mindset on how you react to lots of defeats and getting outclassed often is what will define it. Survival today, consolidation tomorrow

I haven’t taken issue with our results so far, but we definitely deserved a point at least today, we were denied a clear pen, although to be fair Norwich got a player sent off when they probably shouldn’t have been.

There were plenty of positive signs today but the longer we stay rooted to the bottom, the further adrift we get.
