Oh shit, who have I missed? They'll have to go in the playoffs
Edit: Carlisle, well done on your default playoff position.

If you want a forum challenge bet, I am up for staking a fiver that Lincoln will finish top half at least.

Deal. Go an extra fiver that says we will beat you on aggregate, too? Away goals count if level.

Not taking the piss mate, I have seen the future and the little Cowley who loves being on TV will depart around around November time leaving Lincoln with the rubbish one on his own and they will fall after a fairly reasonable start. And it's never too early for this thread, is it?

Too many club names beginning with 'C' for my liking.

Haha, no it's never too early.

I think Evans is far more likelier to change clubs mid -season than Cowley if you ask me, and that's why I have my doubts on Mansfield going up this season.

It's an interesting observation. Have you ever noticed how many boring B teams are usually in the Championship too?

This being FGR's first season in Football League it is difficult to know our stronger and weaker opponents so cannot really enter a forecast.
I guess the one submitted by Son of Cod is fairly accurate except that both promoted clubs will end season no lower than mid-table with perhaps one or both of them occasionally challenging for a place in the promotion play off zone.
Last season the National League was probably the best for many a year as proven by Lincoln and Suttons progress in FA Cup.

On that table we'd be playing Vale in the play-offs. This forum would not be able to handle it.

As I was completely useless at this last year I am gonna use a random number thingumybob to chuck out 24 random numbers and then alphabetically allocate no1 Accrington no24 Yeovil etc, here is what it threw up:
IMG_0171.PNG

So that gives:
1 Colchester
2 Crewe
3 Carlisle
4 Chesterfield
5 Coventry
6 Barnet
7 Newport
8 Notts County
9 Yeovil
10 Morecambe
11 Cheltenham
12 Luton
13 Grimsby
14 Port Vale
15 Exeter
16 Stevenage
17 Accrington
18 Crawley
19 Forest Green
20 Cambridge
21 Lincoln City
22 Mansfield
23 Swindon
24 Wycombe

Umm, what could possibly go wrong.......?

Congrats to Mansfield though on surviving the drop by the skin of your teeth!

Haha, I don't really know my onions with regards to this league. Don't think I could name you a single Colchester or Crawley player, for example.

Not sure why Lincoln's and Sutton's cup runs prove the Conference was strong? One off games under special circumstances. I think the season before when we went up it was a relatively weak league, but the season before that when Barnet and Bristol Rovers went up was stronger than last season, in my opinion. There hasn't been a truly ridiculously good side in that division since Still took Luton up.

Anywhere but relegation and I'll be happy, slight feeling we may go under the radar and nick a cheeky play off spot.

Conference standard a lot lower than the days we were in it from what I have seen.

15/16 was definitely the weakest Conference I remember. From what I saw of games last season, it was only marginally better. That being said, I think Lincoln and FGR will both achieve at least mid table with Lincoln reaching towards the playoffs.

I'm not going to make a prediction for this until at least mid-July.

Don't know a great deal about this league after four years out its changed a lot, no big teams bar Coventry who are a shadow of their former self so should be open.

Stunned to come down and find Mansfield as the big favourites so plenty of surprises.

Based on what I've heard and seen I'd expect Morecambe to severely struggle.

We could go either way as we need to make about 12 signings and no offered players have yet signed bar the youngsters.

If he doesn't get sold we will arguably have one of if not the best centre half in the division in Nathan Smith and at 20 he will only get better. That said a few months till the window shuts! Pope returning is a huge boost, Vale fan and hit 33 in our least season here so if we can get half that this time then we will do ok.

The rest is pretty much a rebuild, even the under contract foreigners have mostly been terminated. De Freitas is the only one not injured next season that's staying although he should do well.

We've got the budget to challenge and the owner won't be signing players off YouTube this season which is a bonus. We had a medical with Mirfin sorted when Mansfield offered bigger money which hasn't gone down to well with the fan base but other than that we are probably the biggest unknown at the moment along with Swindon in terms of such a massive overhaul taking place.

Anything less than play offs will be seen as a huge failure but as we learnt last time it won't be easy and will have to get this rebuild right.

If we keep Eagles and Bikey I will be happier!

Linked with some decent names but as yet none have actually signed.

Mansfield should make top 7, some decent signings but not outlandish. Luton id expect will be up there as usual.

Lincoln did well last year in the cup but need to keep key players and adjust to the level upgrade.

Tough league to call this. Never placed Newport in their new guise, only shared a league with Mansfield once in over 25 years (maybe more than that!) so some unknowns for us. Should be good (as good as it can be in this league)

Possibly if we need time to gel. Oddly our squad was completely rebuilt with many foreign signings from across Europe and we started like a train... then derailed in October!
