Mine was Colchester. You just never hear anything about them.

Are there any of their fans on here?

Of all teams in the league surely you'd always remember your ultimate bogey side...

Surely that's the one you'd like to forget though!

One or two Colchester fans on here I believe, but yeah you never hear anything about them. Quite strange really.

Keep writing us off. Prefer it that way.

Thought I’d resurrect this now the league is settling down a bit.

I’d say the majority of top 7 predictions are being borne out - kudos to the handful who predicted Accrington to do well. The major surprises are both Chesterfield and Vale struggling at the wrong end. Like to think we are on a bit of a charge right now and looking for an auto place by Xmas.

I reckon our Boxing Day game with Luton could well see the season’s biggest attendance - unless the Coventry fans get their arses back to the Ricoh any time soon.

Long way to go but as it stands, surprised how well we're doing how bad Chesterfield are doing and that Mansfield haven't clicked and got a run going. They're now four wins shy of the automatic placings which may take some catching up as Luton Notts, Coventry Swindon, Wycombe and Accrington don't all look like dropping off to let them in..
Surprised Harry Kewell is still at Crawley I thought he would be like Teddy Sheringham or Chris Sutton and give up by October, fair play to him he's making a go of what looks a difficult job.

As I was completely useless at this last year I am gonna use a random number thingumybob to chuck out 24 random numbers and then alphabetically allocate no1 Accrington no24 Yeovil etc, here is what it threw up:
View attachment 6547
So that gives:
1 Colchester
2 Crewe
3 Carlisle
4 Chesterfield
5 Coventry
6 Barnet
7 Newport
8 Notts County
9 Yeovil
10 Morecambe
11 Cheltenham
12 Luton
13 Grimsby
14 Port Vale
15 Exeter
16 Stevenage
17 Accrington
18 Crawley
19 Forest Green
20 Cambridge
21 Lincoln City
22 Mansfield
23 Swindon
24 Wycombe

Umm, what could possibly go wrong.......?

Congrats to Mansfield though on surviving the drop by the skin of your teeth!
This is going really well.......

Tbf, Sutton had spent the majority of the previous season with us.

The major surprises are both Chesterfield and Vale struggling at the wrong end.

Easy to say by looking at the league table but we are far from struggling at present. 6 wins from 8 in all competitions. We won't be down there for very long. Just taken quite a while to dig us out of the giant fucking mess that Michael Brown created, that's all.

Still early days and could still drop back into the mess but a key game Saturday with potential to drop back in or alternatively go four points clear.

Been positive so far under Aspin though, if we can get to Xmas on 20-25 points I’d back us to have a better second half of the season and make 50 points.

Thought you might want to check your predictions and your supporting comments :bg:. Had us down as finishing 2nd. Might well happen. Underestimated Accrington but we all do that every season. Lincoln were my tip to win it but they are still having a good season.
Not easy this prediction larky is it.

ah dammit, looks like I forgot to incriminate myself this time. I totally wouldn't have got Accy down for autos, or us for that matter (not that it's a done deal, obviously) - I think my default prediction for us is for about 10th, i.e. a failed playoff challenge.

As usual there's a couple of corkers in the comments..."X will never get promoted/has no chance of relegation" etc, but since I didn't stick out my neck and make my own predictions, I'm not going to quote specific examples, but they're all there for posterity.

Bump seen as people are asking in the other thread who won this.

Can't be arsed to work everyone's out but let's just say to Vanni how right I was about how crap Slade is and how it was obvious from the day he was appointed that we would be relegation candidates! (who cares if everything else is wrong :P )

Yep, I was wrong (and certainly not for the first time I hasten to add ;)) You were right and I have no problem accepting that, but I always try to keep an open mind so I do change my opinion quite a lot, particularly on football matters. IIRC, I had Grimsby up in 12th initially but then I edited my table a few days later and settled on 16th for you lot, so I was only two places out.

As for Slade, back in the summer and during the pre-season, I do admit I was still torn whether he was a decent enough manager of if he was simply a poor one like so many think. I got my answer shortly afterwards, reading Grimsby's match threads.

Anyways, I was curious about last season's predictions as very few predicted Accy to do so well, and conversely, a lot of us predicted Morecambe, Newport and Crawley to struggle/go down. I thought I'd do some scores to see if I can get an idea of how wrong we all were. At this itme I've only done mine and Frealaf, and the - very early! - predictions on the first page of this thread. Here's what I've got so far -

Vanni - 122
Yella Fella - 130
Frealaf - 132
SOC - 160
Shoddy Collins - 178
GTFCfish - 230*

*tbf to Fishy, his predictions were made using some random number generator thingy.

I'll try to do page 2 and page 3 tomorrow, possibly more if I do find the time. But for the moment I'm quite enjoying seeing my name top of the pile :woo:

I paid up £20 to Crohn's Disease pretty much the day you lot made it to the playoffs, sent confirmation to GodsGift on Instagram. I think I said I was pulling out the other bet(s?) because I didn't want to give 1FF any money, though? I'm more than willing to pay up if I didn't, but I'll need to have a look at previous posts. Was a thread ever made?

Ah okay, so this is what I said on this matter...
It's the hope that kills you in the end, my friend.

But yeah, you are correct, I don't want to give money to 1FF and if I lose my other pre-seasom bets on here, I'll be giving the money to a charity of the respective poster's choice as opposed to 1FF. We could always just do this one that way too?

...so Imp in Branston let me know your charity of choice and I will send them a tenner.

If I lost any other bets to other posters then quote them in here and I'll do the same.

No idea why it's got such a long title to the link, but it's one close to home which would benefit Demi.

Great cause that, was reading about it in today's Telegraph there's a picture of the guy in a half and half GTFC and Lincoln City shirt that he made himself from cutting up the shirts that both clubs kindly donated.
