Apparently York, Darlo & Stockport have the highest budgets

I must be missing something here regarding Salford's budget? But how can a fan-owned club like (Darlo) have a bigger budget than a full-time club like Salford that has a billionaire owner with a 50% stake in the club, and throws money at any individual player that they require if and when whenever they desire to as if it were Confetti :pond:

Only way i can see this having any sort of merit is if they have some sort of multiple PAYE scheme set up where some players are paid by Salford City directly and others are paid from AN Other linked entity.

That would count only the Salford payroll as their 'budget'

Some of their players are reported to be on £1,300 a week + bonus'!!

Livesey was on around £800 a week here, and I've heard he got a pay increase moving to Salford

I don't doubt Mr Neville would be technically correct in his assessment of budgets when viewed from a certain angle. You can bend numbers to tell any story you want, there are whole jobs dedicated to it; so I doubt his definition of budget would match that of those he's trying to convince.

Anyway, fuck 'im.

County have signed ex-Southport winger Ben McKenna. Don't know much about him, all I can see is what I've seen of Stephenson and Thomas they both prefer to cut inside and run toward goal so I'd hope he gives us a different option and is more of a crosser, 'cos apparently half of Oswell's goals come from headers.

Am worried about our injuries a week before season. Our target man Niall Cummins ain't featured the last 3 games, our key midfielder Alex Brown ain't featured all pre-season, our new player Rory Fallon I have not seen yet!

We have last game and today played Steve Howson, a defender we got from Stockport up front.

So season now upon us, pre-season all but gone.

Feeling confident?

Am 50/50 with Curzon, we have lost much going forward, but we only really need to aim for 4th bottom and its a very successful season when you consider the other clubs, so aiming for 40 points and see what point we reach them....if we do.

Confidence side is we look our usual energetic, ard working unit which can pass the ball around as good as, if not better than most in this division, we have one of the best managers, he knows this team well and they know him......so i'd expect this should grab us a few points.

Of course SURELY this sat Vs North Ferriby cannot be as bad as first game of season last year......20 minutes in we were 0-4 down at home and i was wondering what i'd wasted £180 on!.

Ah good times when it looked like Mani D and Ashley Carter would be good signings, we're hoping to get revenge on Chorley for beating us in the playoffs. But we've got a good squad now with Elton Ngwatala and Declan Weeks signing. It will be interesting to see who plays at RB while Vaughan is recovering.

Typical inconsistent winger. On his day he'll cause problems and can be a match-winner, but he can then go missing for a few games. He looked at his best when hugging the touchline, and seemed quite happy going either inside or out. I'd have kept him at Southport but all bar one player showed some sense and got out whilst they could!

Whats your view of Southports up-coming season Swedes?? You have had a mass of changes over summer, any confidence there?? More people think you've a chance of doing an Alty and dropping again than going up or is that harsh?

I've no confidence in our ability to compete whatsoever. In Alan Lewer we have a manager with a 16% win ratio and seemingly minimal knowledge of this league. Most of the players we've bought in don't inspire any confidence, and have only started playing together in the past few weeks. The one lad we've kept (Liam Hynes) is a trier but a bit of a headless chicken. The new board aren't popular at all and have already had a 96% vote of no confidence from the fans in an online poll, this because they seem to be ducking the interest of a locally-based businessman (Phil Hodgkinson) who wants to invest in the club and has links to people well-respected by our fans, they have mislead fans about the previous unpopular chairman maintaining his shareholding, and because they appointed Mark Wright as Head of Operations - he left us in a mess after he managed us and we don't like his history of racism. There is a fans movement backing Phil Hodskinson's bid, and there are a large number of fans who are boycotting home games.

In short, we could make it look like Alty actually put up a fight last season.

Thanks.

Like I said we do seem to have our first choice wingers sorted already, just needed someone who offers something different and it sounds like he does. It's kind of expected for an out-and-out winger to go missing occasionally tbf

Sounds pretty desperate mate. Hope you pull through and still have a club to support.

Not totally sure what to think, we are stronger than last season, but I guess it depends if others have strengthened more. Will get a good indication from the season opener at Kiddie followed by Salford moneybags at home on Tuesday. Quietly confident.

Honestly cannot wait for next week, feels like so long since any proper football. On a completely different tangent, Courtney meppen Walter played for us against Wrexham on Saturday, have no idea why.

Has anyone heard of Jimmy Phillips? He came on for us in the second half and looked a tidy player, not sure if he was a development player or not though as there is someone called Jimmy Phillips who is 27 and played over 100 games for Burton Albion

Suspect its the same one. Good luck with CMW. Biggest waste of space for us last season.

Yeah thats him. Played a few games for us at the back end of the 2014/15 season for us. Looked decent. Has also played for Gateshead.

One more pre season game to go for us tomorrow night but I am buzing for Saturday.

We have changed beyond all recognition from last season. Issues off the pitch such as training have been resolved and we look like a proper functioning football team again. its been a long pre season with 6/7 defeats. But have played some very good sides indeed and competed really well. Think all the signs are there. However I think for the first few games at least there is a still an air of unknown quantity with us.

Well on the positive tonight Naill Cummins played in our second string friendly at Leek today so whatever knock he got has gone which is a massive boost for our attack.

on the downside Alex Brown has announced today while he'll be playing 'if desperately needed' he's effectively now just too busy with work to play full time so will in effect only play if an injury crisis.......although we do have many a good passer in our side its a 3rd key player out from last season.

Still we shall see come saturday, am confident of a strong midtable finish.

Good confidence boosting 6-1 demolition of Midland Premier side Long Eaton tonight. We really do look very good. Not known this level of optimism at the club before a season for years. We are totally unrecognisable from the awful side from last season.

We definitely look good be dark horses. Ryan Jennings is something else too. How the hell did he struggle to get in the Curzon side last year and not make the grade at Wigan? Superb player. Buzzing for Saturday! BRING IT ON!

Having never seen or heard of Jennings, I'm sure there'll be a very good reason why he's in Conference North, and it'll become apparent some time around September - usually any of the following: actually shite but breezed it against village sides in pre-season; injury prone; can't last an hour; or nutcase.

Finished pre season with a 5-1 win against Bradford City U23 not sure what to think going into season,
Defence looks worse than last season with vertically same players, midfield average but look very dangerous going forward and will score a lot.
That's it will be 0-0 Saturday..
gutted miss first 3 games on holiday
