How many would you realistically bring in the playoffs? 400? The club were looking into putting away fans elsewhere in the ground for the playoffs as it’s a waste of a stand.

There aren’t really any 400 seat sections in the ground but there’s smaller sections than the cowshed stand which is 2000+

400 at a push on the Thursday. Would hopeful easily take that on a Saturday though. Would hope for more though.

By the way Tranmere does have exceptionally good away support there can be no denying that.

How many are you likely to give us? Assuming you don't leapfrog MK.

One option would be to put the away fans in the final block of the town end of the Main Stand, which I think holds about 400. Before the ground was redeveloped that block was always set aside as seating for away fans and there was never any trouble that I can recall.

There is no way they would be given the JK stand. It is impossible to segregate and there is a high proportion of season ticket holders in there.

I doubt that they'd put away fans in the Bebington Paddock, given the section for disabled fans is there and would create logistical difficulties.

I wouldn't get too cocky.

Cheltenham brought 600 to us this season and FGR sold your end out.
I'm sure you will have your excuses, but that's pretty damn embarrassing for Cheltenham as a club.

Oh dear...

From the club's official site:
ATTENDANCE: 5,125 (879 away)

Hazlewoods Stand

The Whaddon Road End of the ground was re-developed in 2005 with the creation of the Hazlewoods Stand, which has 1,100 seats. Away fans are placed in this part of the stadium.

Only the 221 short of selling the away stand out there.

As Chris correctly pointed out though, I shouldn't have brought attendances up as it's like "bald men fighting over a comb", so I'll leave the thread now before it goes too far off topic.

We definitely sold all of the tickets that Cheltenham gave us, so that's a sell out isnt it!!

This thread is gareth. The game was two weeks ago, get over it! As for the play offs, it should be entertaining, may the best side win.

I’m so sorry to those fans of the other clubs having to read this shite. The match thread the other week was a shambles and now it’s going to happen again. :ffs:

Let’s just put all the nonsense to one side and do our talking on the pitch.

The League 2 forum is still the preserve of a bunch of bitching, petulant fannies, I see. Delighted to be back.

Here we go again.....

Will no doubt still be animosity in the playoff games from the last game at Prenton Park and the previous ones before that. But it’s football and all that spice will make for an even better two legged playoff.

I think we’ll be more up for it than Forest Green. All those past games and results mean there should be no shortage of desire and hunger from out lot. If we play like we did from the 46th min onwards from our last meeting then I’m confident.

Should be a good battle. Have a feeling that it’ll get quite heated both on the pitch and in the stands especially if the second leg is down in the West Country. What would our allocation be down there??

Official max is around 800 away fans but it is well know plenty of away fans manage to buy seats in the home stands.
But of course the match will be a sell out so it won't be as easy as on previous occasions.

Ta. Assuming that’s all down the side. We’ll bring whatever you give us. Looking forward to it!

Just as a bit of interest that one of our football historians can answer:
I'm pretty sure there has never been the same two teams in a play off final [I stand being corrected if wrong] but how many teams have met each other in the play offs?

Obviously FGR & Tranmere met at Wembley and are course to meet once again two years later.

If we avoided each other and both got to the final the same 2 teams would have met in 2 playoff finals in 3 seasons, in different divisions. Bet that hasn't happened too often!

Ipswich and Bolton met in the playoffs in 1999 and 2000, Bolton winning in 99 (before losing to Watford) and Ipswich winning in 2000 (beating Barnsley in the final).

West Ham also met Ipswich in consecutive years (04 and 05) winning both times.

Millwall beat Bradford in 2016 and 2017 (semis, then final).

That's all I can find for now.

They could have the Cowshed end section of the main stand but they would put them above the lads in the Paddock. Maybe not that good an idea really. The last section of the Main Stand at the Kop end might be a better option. I certainly agree that giving them the entire Cowshed is a waste of a lot of seats our fans could be using and I for one would love to see both ends of Prenton Park full of Rovers fans. I would even consider going in the Cowsheds myself for old times sake.

Your post reminded me when FGR played Dagenham & Redbridge in play offs and they tightly packed all the away fans into a very small corner of their ground.
Our misery was compounded by fact that there had been a road accident en-route to game and we turned up a minute before kick-off.
A lot of us ended up watching game from the zig-zag yellow no standing area. The stewards were unable to move us because there was nowhere else to go.
Happy days, FGR won that tie.

Great that Doidgy is starting to look well up for it again now, up for April player of the month. We're a totally different propersition with our £1million rated striker back on it. With Williams back fit along with Mondal and Grubb who have been on fire in recent weeks, and you'd say we've definitely got the fire power to cause a lot of problems.

Just have to make sure we defend properly.

Doidgy scoring - that's great but he is still is not at his best before the Bolton sage.
Williams back! Normally players need a couple of games to regain full match fitness. Just one game before play-offs!! But even if he is only 90% match fit, GW is a much better player than most in this league.

Thanks Si, those stats show that FGR v Tranmere would be a historical meeting of same two clubs competing in play-offs at two different tier levels.
