We won't be finishing 5th I can almost be certain of that. What are you placing your high finish of Bury on?

We got 35 points last season and finished comfortably bottom. We also have an untried manager at the helm.

Personally, can't see Oldham finishing anywhere near that low. They've got a new owner who seems to have adequate resources for this level, as well as some solid enough players. Can see them top half for sure.

Can't see FGR bottom either.. they again have resources to be upwardly mobile.

Who got closest to correct last season?
If Notts manage to get the two strikers we are after AND a couple of central defenders I'm confident of a top 3. If not we will be in a worse position than this season season (or is it last season now?!?!)

You're not even in this division you fool

Also are you suggesting there'll be no relegation to the conference next season. That would be nice.

Who will be the season’s Accrington? There is always one surprise team who, for no good reason, punches above their weight. My tip last season was Cambridge - so I’ll stick with them. As for the rest of us, let’s see what recruitment is like first.

Have you not still got a load of money and according to some of your fans, a good squad for this level?

Also, you've got Nicky Adams, possibly the best player in the division. Any team that has him in their side and a capable finisher can certainly expect to challenge for promotion.

Be surprised if we started with anything other than the same back four of Tootle, Brisley, Duffy and Jones on the opening day - rightly so as well, it was one of the best in the league all season.

I wouldn't say Accrington punched above their weight for no good reason. It had been clear for the past two seasons at least that they had the skill and managerial nous to go up, and only injuries and a thin squad were preventing them going all the way.

Nicky Adams best in the division? Hmm not sure about that. He’s an aging winger who’s just come back from a major injury. Last time we were in this division he wasn’t getting in our side towards the end of the season.

That's because you were managed by David Flitcroft, and 31 certainly isn't aging in 2018, it might have been in the 1990's, we had the 39 year old Clint Hill in our squad last year and the 35 year old Jamal Campbell-Ryce and neither of those showed their age. Neither did the 33 year old Jabo Ibehre or the 35 year old Derek Asamoah the last couple of seasons.

Even in our own squad, I’d rate Danny Mayor far higher than Adams, as wingers.

This Division was "The Rochdale Division" for many years, so its only natural to retain an interest - particularly when we damn nearly came back to join in again! No relegation would be nice in a way - while I wouldn't mind Stockport, Hartlepool, Chesterfield, Orient etc back, I struggle to see the attractions of Borehamwood, Fylde or Salford.

Probably got FGR too low, in fairness. Was mentally adding a 10 point penalty for vegetarian catering...

Why are you such a prick SoC.

We stayed up fairly comfortably last season, why the fuck would we get worse?
Sorry that my opinion offends you to the point that you once again need to resort to personal insults. However, you don't pick up enough points away, can't defend very well, will have to deal with difficult second season syndrome with Mark Cooper in charge and have allowed a couple of decent players to leave.

I think Chris meant it a bit tongue in cheek as they 'comfortably' stayed up by a whole 1 point.
I think so anyway......... :dk:

It’s not implausible for teams to get worse. We did! I thought it was pretty funny.

We did exactly the same, 11th the season we came back up with 60 points, the following season 21st on 48 points battling relegation, we only stayed up as Tranmere and Cheltenham (ironcally both back up) were so shit that season

Why are you such a prick SoC.

As above, not stating you will struggle, but it can happen quite frequently, you think you've got the league mastered as in you know what its about, the novelty wears off a little, attendances maybe fall.

First of all, easy on the personal abuse please.

2nd, it's a fairly common occurance. 7 teams posted worse finishes in League Two from 16/17 to 17/18. Barnet for example dropped from 15th with 57 points to 23rd with 46 points. So I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as a possibility.
