The FB forum merchants have been right arseholes. That said, when we visited you at Plainmoor, everyone was good as gold.

Don't do Facebook myself but I have heard that our fans Facebook page has a fair number of bellends.

Them facebook ''banter'' pages really seem to bring the worst out of people.

Loads of twats who seem to think banter is going on peoples profiles and screen shotting pictures of their family, partners or even kids and slagging them off.

Or its only bantz mate. I came out of the NLS banter one as it was just various idiots from Torquay mainly, some Woking and surprisingly quite a few Slough just being absolute knobs.

Believe it or not, we don't all use it.

WE GO AGAIN.

I’m sure all the clubs in the VANNY NASH are delighted to have us back.

We’re probably going to end up playing you every season until the end of time.
Bizarrely, since we were relegated to the conference, I've always hated playing Aldershot as they always seemed to be our bogey team. I'm now worried this has shifted to Woking.

Wouldn't be surprised if we signed Bettamer but I doubt we could afford any of the others.
Bettamer looked impressive in a good attacking side at Staines under Johnson Hippolyte, clearly good enough for a higher level than Isthmian Premier. wouldn't mind him at Dulwich!

Most clubs have a few supporters looking to wind up their rivals online. A few can be genuinely witty but most of them aren't as clever as they think they are, or just plain obnoxious. It's generally a very small minority who aren't necessarily going to be representative of the whole club. Having only just come up to this level I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and civilized the atmosphere was at just about every club I visited on matchdays. It wasn't really any different to the isthmian league, just with bigger home crowds and more away supporters.

I still think segregation encourages the small number of idiots to mouth off more if they don't have to worry about being challenged to their face by someone standing right next to them, or walking past them to change ends at half time, and it puts a lot of reasonable people into a more irritable and defensive mood. Part of the attraction of this level for many is that it's not like the Football league. (Although I realise we're now only one step away from the level with a lot of ex-League clubs where attitudes are probably different and some grounds will have little spare capacity for people to move around.)

We'd heard that Torquay fans don't like changing ends at half time, as is the custom at this level, and that one or two clubs had either felt the need to segregate them or that an issue had arisen when they stayed put at one end for 90 minutes. We played them at Tooting, they brought about one third of a crowd of 1,500 or so. As the game started there were a lot of supporters of both clubs at one end, which Dulwich were attacking, making a lot of noise. After the game had been underway for a few minutes the visitors began moving up the other end, then at half time everyone swapped over. No one seemed to have a problem with any of that and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

One of our supporters added loads of his friends to that group as soon as we were promoted. I think I looked at it for about 30 seconds before removing myself from it. It's not "banter", it's just village idiots competing to be more abusive than each other; a sort of online shin-kicking contest where they just keep going because they're too stupid to draw the line or walk away.

He had a reasonable strike rate in a poor Braintree side but strangely despite going full time he looked very unfit after joining us. He started a few games immediately after joining and was then ignored for everything other than county cup games. I think we will be trying to offload him this summer.

Last 12 games we've played it's been:

1 Torquay win
4 Draws
7 Woking wins

Only Chester can compete with that:

1 Chester win
0 Draws
9 Woking wins

A shame we can't play them next season.

In the NL, Barrow are probably our bogey team though - haven't beaten them in our last 7 attempts.

Took our fans a fair few games to adjust as the non-segregation and swapping ends bit wasn't something we had ever really encountered before.

Don't feel bad Wrexham haven't beat us in the last 7 attempts either

And now you've got used to it you'll have to adjust back again!

For supporters of clubs rising from a lower level it's the same principle in reverse of course.

Take our first game in NLS away at Chelmsford. Some of the City fans were, let's say, a bit unhappy that Torquay fans decided to stay behind the goal they occupied before kick off instead of swapping. However, not so much this season, but the last time we played Langney Sports (Eastbourne Borough if you must) the Langney fans didn't even change ends... and it was their home game!

As a follower of non-league football at this level (and below) I'm well accustomed to changing ends at half time. But like Jerry said, most of our fans hadn't encountered this type of thing before having been segregated at the majority of our games in the Conference and above.

....and now it's back to 'normal' for us.

....and so it begins. The love/hate relationship that is the Angels and Maidstone.

A Mr Sword65 from their forum in reply to an Angel fan asking if the Maidstone fans were 'annoyed' that we're both again at the same level:

''I assume you are a Tonbridge Angels fan so let me be the first to congratulate you on being able to write, this puts you way ahead of anyone else at Longmead . Why would it annoy us to be back in with you let's remember that we went out of business ,got demoted to step 13 and rose through the ranks to once again pass you lot who had stood still for 30 years doing f**k all. We will be comfortable this season, your lot will struggle. In both home and away games our support will it number you and the tosser that start trouble will find some of our loose cannons willing to provide it and trust me I know most of them and the result would be a foregone conclusion as Pembury hospital A&E will be full of Wankers wearing blue scarves . Maidstone are not a big club but are massively bigger than you pikey bastards and we will dismiss you as just pesky little insects that annoy us . Right you can go back to the GATE Inn now and rejoin the rest of your knobhead mates...''

I don't think he likes Tonbridge.

I wouldnt take much Sword says on the forum serious, most of it is him being proper sarcastic/trolling or posting when hes drunk.

In person hes actually a proper sound bloke.

I know Still always seemed to have a great eye for these lower league players when he was at Dagenham, but a 2 year deal for someone who scored 13 goals in the Ryman Premier is a bit of a head scratcher.

I have a lot of respect for everything Still has achieved in his career, as does pretty much anyone who has followed football at this level for a while.

But, having said that, the signs have been there for a while that the game has moved on from him. This was very clear with us last season, our summer business was disastrous and this chap plus the bog standard CB you signed from St Albans doesn't bode well. I assume you are paying through the nose for Still as he looked very disinterested here last season and retired before you guys came in for him.

That seems to be fairly common at a lot of the Sussex and Kent coastal clubs right down to Isthmian D1S or even county league level, possibly because a lot of the grounds tend to have the clubhouse behind one goal or in a corner and you get a core of regulars who don't like to stray far from there: Ramsgate, Whitstable, Bognor, Lewes, Burgess Hill are examples, although it rarely causes a real problem.

The NLS banter page is awful - usually the same culprits that go and dish it out yet can't take anything back their way. The worst thing about it however is Hemel supporters claiming how great they are and how good Vauxhall Road is, give me strength!

Saying that, the last time I posted a status on there after our game at Plainmoor, every Torquay response was praising of us as a club which made a refreshing change.

Player news - Jonathan North has signed a new contract which is massive for us. Going out is Dave Pratt who returns to Chippenham which I think every Stones supporter could predict. It just never worked out for him with us.

I'm pretty sure you took the most away fans to us, and generally played very well. Was rooting for you lot in the play-offs on that alone!

Danny Searle has this afternoon resigned as Braintree manager. Aldershot bound? I doubt he'll end up with us.

Hopefully we'll announce the new manager at some point over the next few days.

Fucking hope not

Anybody in particular who you would like to see get the job?

I was going to start a new thread later on this week but feel free to start one now. Next season's thread will probably be the most active to date.
