There were signs yesterday that suggest you might be right. Still lacking a goalscorer which makes a relegation scrap inevitable, but other than that this new team looks better than last season's.

What happened to Elliot Durrell?

What happened to Elliot Durrell?
I've lost track of the whole Durrell saga tbh so one of the other Macc fans can correct me if they know better. I think the latest rumour is that he's signed a contract but there are still some unknown issues between him and Sol/the owner and he's not welcome to train with the squad until it's all sorted. Basically meaning he's way off match fitness and even if he does sort out whatever his issues are, he won't be fit to play for weeks to come and no other league 2 team is gonna try and sign him. All a bit of a farce really, especially as we're so toothless in attack without him.

WTF was I thinking at the time?

1. Plymouth
2. Scunthorpe
3. Mansfield

4. Bradford
5. Forest Green
6. Newport
7. Northampton
8. Colchester
9. Crewe
10. Exeter :ffs:
11. Stevenage :ffs:
12. Swindon :ffs:

13. Salford
14. Carlisle
15. Cheltenham
16. Cambridge
17. Grimsby
18. L. Orient
19. Walsall
20. Crawley
21. Oldham
22. Morecambe
23. Port Vale :ffs:
24. Macclesfield

And that's not all, cos I have the U's in 10th place on my actual prediction, but that's the only thing different between the two. Thing is I'm a bit superstitious when it comes to footy so I always put my club in a lower position when I'm predicting on a public forum like this one.

They were in the Premier League remember.
We were and we’re very proud of the fact. However I’m not sure anyone has been on here and made a song and dance of it nor are many of our fans under any illusion about where we’re at as a club now?

Don’t let these tin pot sides make you feel ashamed of being in the Prem, the fact is we’re just better than them.

Apart from Swindon and Cheltenham I’m not too far off as it stands.

I fancy Mansfield to make a late dash for play off’s. Granted Stevenage I was way off with that one too.

Was a bit confused by what they said about us, "the team they most disagreed on" when both seemed to have a similar opinion, plus also saying we'd punched above our weight and done well last season, but that we could do with a better manager or words to that effect. Not sure how that follows.
I think the season you've had justifies any possible confusion/contradiction in the summer predictions.

Just went through - I don't think a single person had us in the top half, let alone in the playoffs.

Even though I didn't submit a table prediction I wouldn't have either...especially after you signed Reid and Campbell as your strike force last summer. You have definitely exceeded my expectations and although I expected us to finish around tenth position I would have had Cheltenham below us. Good luck in the play-offs, if you succeed it gives us something to aim for next season (promotion, to resume the rivalry)...if you fail, which is of course possible, at least you get a shot at beating us next season...for the first time since 1998!

Most had us mid-table, a few in the top 7. Not one prediction of the season being cut short by 9/10 games. Truly embarrassing form from everyone in this thread.

Get on Vale next season

We have a chance, if we take the form post Xmas once we had gelled it was right up there and look set to keep the squad together and add a couple, plus financially should be ok compared to some.

The plan was always consolidate the past season under Carol and Kevin's new ownership to build a base and we did better than most expected so should be one of the favourites. Nice to be excited about a new season rather than dread it for once!

Well, there’s a whole heap of shite coming down so, essentially, you’re competing against the same teams as this season minus 4 of the decent ones.

Got to be worth a decent punt I reckon.

I didn't post it on here but I had Cheltenham for a top 6 in my predictions as I knew you had good home form from the previous season and I knew theres always one surprise side that does well each season.
