Striker that doesn't score goals. Never has done, suspect he never will.

Striker that doesn't score goals - in the league. Also spent most of his time being played as a winger - in the league.

Look I'm not sating he is going to tear it up, because it's a gamble. We've signed someone who says he is a striker but hasn't played much as a striker.

However the gulf in quality between L1/L2 and the NLN is enormous, so if he gets a good run as a striker then who knows?

Take your point about being played out of position but even then, 18 goals from 164 games is still a poor record. Would be surprised if he managed double figures, closest he got was in 16/17 when he scored 8 in 37 games for Notts County.

Was that in League 1 or 2?

Did he play as a striker throughout that season or was some/most of it out wide?

And again, putting the striker/winger debate to one side - by saying you'd be surprised if he hit double figures, you are failing to grasp the huge gulf in quality between the level he was playing at, to the level he is going to be playing at.

I'd be surprised if he didn't hit 10 at least if he can manage 8 in one season in L1/2, especially if he's played as a central striker all of the time.

Turning it around, I'd be surprised if the likes of Styche, Maguire, Taylor would fare better than scoring 8 in L1 for example

League Two.

You'd have to ask County fans what position he played, although I suspect it was either out wide or as a sub striker as they had Jon Stead, Shola Ameobi and Jonathan Forte on their books that year.

Only one I'm annoyed about is Kettering away midweek in September although at least I can still go.
Also we have successive aways at Gateshead,Darlington, York and Telford around October
The first 3 especially will burn a hole in the wallet!

Will be amazed if he is good enough to get in your team.

Seems to have been highly rated at Guiseley?

We only really have David Atkinson and Joe Wheatley who can play in centre midfield right now and Wheatley is injured.

We missed out on Alex Pattison as well, he's gone to Wycombe.

Also on trial is Omar Holness who played at the back end of last season for us and did very well.

He has always been sub when we have played them, you look out for ex players. On the other hand Alex Pattison is quality and see why he has found a league club.
Surely must be some good academy kids from Middlesbrough.

Spennymoor away in September. We'll should be able to play them on the actual fixture date for the first time.

Leamington at home to start and a lot of fixtures in August, 8 fixtures done by Septmeber.

Hereford at home on Boxing day should be a good money maker for us.
Liam McAllinden on trial for Walsall today.

Darlington complete the signing of midfielder Will Hatfield from Guiseley. He's spent 3 years at Accrington and 4 years at Guiseley with most of that time spent at a higher level than the NLN.

Great solid signing for NLN level. Only 27 and has almost 100 FL appearances.

Noah Smerdon joins Exeter City. Young lad with huge potential, started last season off like he'd been a regular at that level of years yet was only 17. His form nosedived a little in the closing months however, injury and assume transfer talk didn't help.

How's everybodies line ups looking?

Think we will line up like this subject to further signings...(I expect another midfielder (probably Omar Holness) and another striker)

GK Chris Elliott

RB Luke Trotman
CD Louis Laing
CD Terry Galbraith
LB Michael Liddle

RW Jarrett Rivers
CM David Atkinson
CAM Stephen Thompson
CM Will Hatfield
LW Jamie Holmes

CF Adam Campbell

Subs: Cameron Hall, Johnny Burn, Mitchell Glover, Jordan Watson - Joe Wheatley & Wilson Kneeshaw unlikely to be fit for the start of the season.

Seems a strongish line up, hopefully this will see us be in the top half.

Believe this is strongest squad we’ve had since tunnelling out of football league.
Up to Mr Watson to earn his money.keeping them front 5 happy isn’t going to easy all good players.

Ridiculous quality and depth. No point in playing this season for the rest of us.

We are playing York first so we will see how they line up and what they've got.
Should be very interesting season ahead, very hard to predict as there seems to have been a lot of players moving around, except at Alty :bravo::10::brill::sb:

Worst possible time to play Alty, you have a settled team and will roll straight into it.
We have got a hard start.
First and third away game,Alty and Spennymoor also got Brackley 2nd home game.

New on here - I was VERY surprised to see FCFC listed as basically relegation favourites, given the momentum the club has.
Unless the bookies are looking at off-field issues....

Dunno if you're aware here but we have got a new chairman who has basically changed everything about the club overnight. No consultation. new badge (horrid), changed from traditional colours entirely (gone from shades of blue to white/green -horrid), and is referring to the ground by a different name (horrid). Folk are NOT happy at all this...

Prior to all this, I would have said the side would be 11th-16th or so in the Confs rest div 2019-20. All the title winning side remain, and a few squad additions. Unsure how the supporters reactions will affect the players. That said, we've a tough start on paper...

Cheers Sith.

I note that since I last saw games at this level, with FCFC, the 'balance' in the two confs 2nd divs hasnt really improved. Gloucester, the attempt at having Oxford c in this div.... really?? North?

Yeah. Still an underlying issue due to the Northern League not promoting enough teams in recent years.
