I watch the matches and understand perfectly the system we use and the physical nature of the game. Committing fouls is an unavoidable part of the game and occasionally a player might even have to put in a "take one for the team" type of challenge but to suggest we have that as part of our pre match plan (asked to commit those type of fouls) is an unfair accusation. We defend by putting emphasis on attack and don't need to resort to those tactics. The Scunthorpe match was a physical encounter and you get those occasionally. Thankfully this season we have had very few of those.
I expected someone to defend the comment from the Scunthorpe fan but you not only agreed but came out with that additional comment.

You aren't half tribal you.

Just because he's a Luton fan doesn't mean he has to defend everything Luton do. I believe FCH was also the Luton fan who said let the club do an investigation regarding the racism situation instead of jumping to conclusions. It's almost as if he is a realistic and doesn't let the football team he supports cloud his judgement on everything.

What I said about our game against Luton wasn't a claim, it was a fact. Luton committed 25 fouls which is a hell of a lot.

Its a football forum, providing additional comment is sort of the point?

Im not saying Micks telling them to go out there and foul, will be more along the lines of, if you lose the ball and get turned over for a counter attack, then make sure you break up the play to ensure the full backs get back in and cover - if that means taking a foul then ends justify the means. Like I said, fairly common tactic in football these days.

If you like your BBC stats so much go and have a look you'll find the 25 fouls committed was a one off. Our foul average is very low. In fact you'll also see that both Sunderland and Portsmouth committed more than 20 fouls against us in recent games and I wouldn't class either side as dirty. Wycombe choose to play that style to unsettle teams and their time wasting, arguing, trying to get opponents booked is one they have chose to adopt and it seems to be working well looking at their table position. We certainly don't play in that manner.
I would hardly class my posts on here as tribal if you take time to read them they are a fair assessment of the game and the teams we meet. The whole purpose of the forum is to discuss the game and we all don't necessarily see things in the same way. If you are going to make comments like FCH made about his own club then he needs to explain why otherwise they are open to interpretation.
I'll continue to defend my club and if you see that as tribal then thats your choice.

A much better explanation than the one you posted earlier.

Maple. TFCH had a point. Don't be so touchy. Every team in the land has a destroyer like Rea and McCormack and Thorne who will come in if/when he's suspended. They break the play up legally and def will take one for the team illegally if they have to, and will regularly take out a breaking attack with a trip, tug or obstruction high up the pitch. I think even Shinnie did it the other week. McCormack is a past master at making it not look so cynical but it is. Almost all his bookings are for his big mouth. Hylton too

Very concerned for us at the moment - 6 League games without a goal and a crap performance yesterday. The Scunthorpe keeper was hardly tested at all.

Sunderland away in front of the cameras on Fri night next for us - HELP!!!

I thought we mixed it up abit!

Those who watched a long ball game certainly can’t have been watching the same game.

Fans turning against the management team aren’t helping matters, either. A sense of perspective is needed. It’s so fucking tight in the lower half of the table, there’s gonna be teams moving up 5 places and back down 5 places the week after.

Call it deluded, but I’m still not panicked - we won’t go down.
I’m 100% behind Hopkin but that’s not to say there wasn’t an over use of the long ball, I’ll give you that it‘s fair to say we do try and get it down at times (nothing compared to the golden age that was December) but the majority of balls yesterday were in the air, trying to get a striker in behind who’s only way of doing so is to hope for a defensive slip as he’s not good enough to get in any other way .
O’Donnell and O’Connor the main culprits, clearances/passes time after time yesterday straight onto the head of Fleetwood’s giant of a defence, us with not one player who can hold the ball up or at the very least win his fair share of headers. There’s only one result when we do this. Tactically that isn’t addressed either by telling them to play the ball short or by telling the midfield to drop short to receive the ball from them, either way we gifted possession up through this way far too much.

A good result by Fleetwood beating Bradford on the road. I thought when we scored so early it would give the hosts plenty of time to get an equaliser, as it was we keep a clean sheet which is always very satisfactory. We have a 'new' centre half in Souttar who is seriously tall, did well against Charlton and is carrying on that form, looks very promising and sure Barton will be looking to bring him on board permanently in the close season
Paddy Madden is up there with the best of them, without doubt the best centre forward we have had in years.......

Its finding a way of steadying the ship when teams get in a bad run. That tremendous start to the season you had is certainly standing you in ( relatively ) good stead now. Has your team suffered a lot of injuries or key players been missing ? Keep your chin up, for what its worth you are still one of the best teams seen at Highbury this season

Thankyou for the reply - before the season started we'd have taken any spot above the relegation zone but its just we seem to be the ones sliding down the table at the moment. As always we lost a few in the transfer window but some of our regulars such as Kee and McConville are off form and we've had some suspensions too (Finlay on a 5 game ban)

On our day we've shown we can be good at this level but the Bradford and Scunthorpe away games we've been awful.

2 home draws this week, starting tonight against Blackpool in one of our seemingly endless draws in hand.

Bugger, I was getting all excited for Pompey away tonight - I normally stream the game that my dad can't make - only for him to text me "what game?"

At least Utd Vs PSG should make up for it I guess

Because of Luton's game v Coventry being moved to Sunday, Sunderland play four times and Luton just once in the next 12 days. The League table could look very different by the time Luton kick off against Coventry if Sunderland can take advantage of some very easy looking games.

Yeahhh about that.
I can imagine that atmosphere at the SOL must be pretty toxic right now.

Come on Womble76. Dare to dream

I do and that's the problem.. every time I accept we kick on again. We are not as and as position but we have little threat up top. I'm confident we will be decent next year in league 2.

If Sunderland don't go up with the money and the squad they have it's so embarrassing.

I think your victory says less about your team and more about Walsall's.

Takes a lot more than money and a squad to build a team. They still may go up but it's hard being the big dog where everyone lifts their game, take double to SoL than elsewhere, and faces a stadium of people that have really high expectations. The players prob expected a cake walk too. Football. What a leveller at times.

Win at Rochdale next game and you've closed the gap on the pack to a one game swing.

It's so tight down there any sort of good or bad run will chop and change a lot of places and teams.

We played really well tonight and could have easily been 5 or 6. Puts us Four points ahead of Peterborough with a game in hand... looking forward to Sunday now.
