Pompey, like Sunderland Saturday, were decent but nothing special. Certainly didn't blow us away like I expected.

So far, no team has looked amazing, but the consistency of the likes of Portsmouth will set them apart from everyone else.

Fans were phenomenal tonight. Far more noisy that Sunderland.

We are no great shakes and are struggling due to lack of firepower. However I will say going down this year would be a disgrace as inhabent seen a single side that really impressed me. Most years there are a few that you have to say are just too good. Not this year for me. I'm not going to say the usual standard is crap this year blah blah blah. I will however say thiseague is very even and no one really stands out imo.

We were probably garbage but I have no idea as I wasn't there. Checked my phone (with permission) at the retail coalface at full time. Muttered something about 'bloody stupid club' at which point a customer ask if I was a Man U supporter. When I told him that I was an AFC Wimbledon supporter, he said 'nice one'. Not much of a consolation but I'd still rather support Wimbledon rather then Man U because I live in SW London and have supported a team called Wimbledon for 30+ years.
Better than the usual response I get in similar situations, usually along the lines of "haha Bradford Shitty why do you support them?" Probably because I'm from here mate, now run along I think Leeds are on TV.

We're definitely not too pleasing on the eye, but we are very solid defensively. When we take the lead, you just get the sense that it's job done at the moment. It's a very nice feeling.

However, we traditionally have a poor run of results in Jan/Feb so that will be the acid test for us.

Our inability to beat Accrington in the league continues, to be fair if we had won we would have stolen the points, very even first half but they came out the better in the second. We came back into it and were looking more likely but a slip by Andy Butler let their forward in at the end. I thought we looked a little flat but Accrington pressed us well.

I think that is doing us a bit of dis-service. We are a very good all round team. We can play through teams when required, defend tough, scrap and play decent hoofball. If you look at the play for Curtis' goal, the play was really good.

Yeah, I agree. The standard across the league is even. Which, for entertainment, is a good thing. There will be a few clubs who make late pushes for the top 6 this season.

Blackpool are the only team that have stood out for me so far in terms of skill. Portsmouth were also extremely well organised. I disagree that the league is even. We have played some very poor teams this season.

I would say that there are 6/7 at the top though all capable of beating each other.

A morale boosting point at Barnsley. Still without that win though and still double figures out injured.

Maybe Wimbledon at home on Saturday will be the one?

Woodyard very solid..very unspectacular...good leader...has been overshadowed by certain other signings like Dembele / Godden...protects the back four well...I think we will see his value more when we are under pressure.
Yeah, was similar here. You'd have to watch him over a few consecutive games to really appreciate what he did and what he brought to the side.

Lower league Kante for us.

His passing will mean he never plays much higher, but his engine is superb.

After the first few minutes it was clear that Wycombe were very poor, clearly a comfortable win for the Cods just a question of by how many goals. It appears like the team saw it the same way as they treated it like a pre-season game, lots of pretty movement, but lets not embarrass the opposition by scoring too many.

Second half Wycombe get a goal against the run of play, for the Cods it was just a blip, but for Wycombe it gave them belief that they might actually get something from the game, they began to grow while Cods began to shrink. A few huffs and puffs from the Cods towards the end of the game, but equally Wycombe could have nicked a winning goal. A bore draw was a fair result on actual play, but I left feeling for attitude and effort Wycombe deserved the win.

Perhaps, but he's never been a creative type.

Here he got the ball, fed it to the better technical players and that was enough.

You will beat us and we will send you on a run. We are a charity shop for teams stuck in a rut.

Away from home we're a bit different. But you were so bad anyway that day that it wasn't possible to not beat you however hard we tried.

Yeah and deservedly so, They are the team which have impressed so far this season and looked a really good side. One of the ironies for them is while they were Champions last year there attendances are down so far, makes you wonder what teams have to do to get more support. Fleetwood have a bedrock of around 2500, give or take a couple hundred either way. The times when we have a good crowd are entirely dependent on the away support, and tbh a promotion ( just hold on theres a pig flying past the window ) would not see a huge increase in home support to a level of say 3500. Its just a fact of life......

Knew they would surprise a few people this season. They are a really bloody good side who know how to win all types of games because they are more than the sum of their parts. Their results and form in 2018 must be up there with the best in the country.

Fleetwood are limited by their population. A town of just 25,000 does bloody well to get 2,500 through the door if you ask me.

Weirdest bit about it was that they were genuinely awful on opening day, and we absolutely strolled it. Strange how things have changed since.

Completely agree. When they somehow didn't get promotion a couple of years ago, I was shocked - I really thought they'd beat Wimbledon in the play offs.

The part this is nice as well though is that they win honestly. From skill, bloody hard work and tactical perfection. No cheating, diving, time wasting etc - absolutely fair play to them, I've developed a little soft spot for Accy in recent years tbh

Need to put in a good attacking performance tomorrow. We've struggled abit in the last two league games at home to teams that weren't near the top of the table. With Barnsley playing Peterborough a win could give us a bit of distance at the top.

Only a matter of months since we went to Fratton on the crest of a wave, turned them over 3-1 with a scintillating second half performance and were very much in the play-off conversation.

Not quite the same now. If we get a point I'll be bloody delighted. A lot will rest on our tactical set up, but seeing as Lovell has basically come out and said we won't sit back and defend I'd imagine Pompey will definitely score at least once on the counter - probably more than that considering the form of Lowe and Curtis up front. We're totally capable of being an attacking threat in this league, and we don't have the worst defence either - it's just not working at the moment.

Pompey 3-1 Gills in a turnaround from the springtime. Lowe, Pitman and Evans for them, Parker for us. Sell out home crowd I'd imagine, somewhere around 6-700 from us.

Shrewsbury away for us tomorrow - I seem to remember us getting smashed 4-0 away there a few years back (must've been the season they went up) but if we keep up our recent performances I'd fancy us for at least a point.
Thank you for some of the above comments - I really thought we'd be struggling a bit now especially with losing a few of last season's main players but once again we've found some decent young players who are playing some entertaining stuff at the moment.

Bradford away today, after an eventful game against Peterborough i would probably expect goals again in our game today. I’d say both teams to score today and i expect another tough game. Haway the lads. Hope our travelling support enjoy their day.

Home to Burton with Charles Breakspear as ref, 7 reds in 13 games this season is a scary record as he's a shit ref anyway but that amount of reds is ridiculous. :sna:
