Give over, Barnet weren't awarded anything, it was the fairest way to end a season that couldn't be finished normally. I thought all this rubbish had been done to death already
Lighten up mate, I was only joking.

Update on our squad:

Goalkeepers

Ben Hinchliffe
Josh Barnes (on trial)

Defenders
Sam Minihan
Liam Hogan
Ash Palmer
Jamie Stott
Mark Kitching
James Jennings
Jordan Downing

Midfielders
Lois Maynard
Adam Thomas
John Rooney
Jordan Williams
Connor Jennings
Jordan Keane
Harvey Gilmour
Alex Curran
Ethan Coleman (on trial)

Strikers
Alex Reid
Nyal Bell
Ritchie Bennett

We still have Sam Walker and Paul Turnbull training with us. Darren Stephenson is also on a sort of trial / chance to show his fitness basis.

Could do with a right sided attacker / winger and possibly another striker to complete the squad (assuming those on trial agree permanent deals)

Alty have pretty much the whole squad signed up on 2 year deals, with one sold, 2 fringe players released, one left and one sent on loan for the year. Signed 5 new players, so we have squad of 18. Should be enough with a couple of loanees.

Looking strong in midfield and out wide. Two good centre halves and a highly rated left back. Desperately need another forward and a right back. I’d also take another full back as cover and a cheap centre half, as promising as Cunningham is, he’s always injured (was a bit short sighted releasing Myles Anderson as he wasn’t on big money and always gave 100%). At least a couple more in needed to challenge for the top spots IMO.

I think? A bit light on numbers. Only one actual Striker. Cleworth and Bickerstaff are first year pros.

Some more to come in soon hopefully.

Walker and Turnbull are training with us purely to maintain fitness. Stephenson similar as you say, I like Stephenson but the indications are he's working towards a deal at another club.

Curran and Downing are very raw and will go out on loan I imagine.

We'll sign a right sided player and the back up keeper (Barnes or someone else) and thats probably the squad sorted for now. Gannon wants a group of 18-19. Coleman would have to have impressed a lot for a contract.

We have 11

Goalkeeper:
Yusuf Mersin

Defenders:
Joss Passley
Will D'Havilland
Paul Rooney

Midfielders:
Michael Woods
Oscar Gobern
Kurtis Cumberbatch
Marshall Wratten

The chairman says of these the 6 top paid won't accept a pay cut, they will be out of the door at some point
Guessing they are Woods,Gobern,Rigg, Passley,D'Havilland,Munns
The other 5 are nowhere near NL standard, except Rooney
We have 30 training from today & 4/5 to sign this week

Midfield looks done to me, MSH has yet to feature for Fleetwood in pre season, Challinor says he wants four more, gotta be RB, CB, ST and maybe a versatile defender?

Yeah or at least 3 more. Right back, striker are priorities for me and a defender who can cover all over the back line.

Rutherford and Dibble aside, Keates looks to have done a decent job in the transfer market so far. The most difficult tasks comes now though, with us seeking a good CB, holding midfielder and striker.

Budget has been slashed from last season and we released/lost 14 players, most of the four he wants will be loans I’d imagine, the player's we've signed are either mostly young or untested at this level, probably only David Ferguson who we've had to push the boat out for, maybe Crawford?

Spending smarter. I see. I wasn't being facetious by the way, I know your chairman was making some sounds about the crisis hitting him hard.

The chairman is always whittling about money, budgets and how he needs outside investment, he owns a chain of care homes so has more than likely been hit in the pocket during coronavirus, we still have an American consortium sniffing around in the background, we've had one 'insulting' first bid fall short and they've gone quiet.

Charlton have pulled out of a deal for Dennon Lewis, so he's now back at the Stones and staying (unless another EFL club make a bid).

Rumour on Twitter that Barnet are interested in our right back Michee Efete. However, he's on contract, attracting interest from the EFL and a fee would be required.

Not even slightly excited, probably best played 5-4-1, park the bus,‘cos there ain’t many goals in that squad. Relying on Trialists A, B and C.
Desperate for some good loanees.

Need another option who can possibly play CB and RB. Another wide man who can play up top if needed would be useful too. Hopefully add them 2 and get rid of Quigley and we'll be set.

Sounds like we are going to be up to 18 by Friday (Excluding Brown and Hanson) with an aim of a 20 man squad for the start of the season. RB and CB definitely the two weakest areas currently. Suspect they will be two of the 3 signings to be announced this week. The remaining two spots will be taken up by trialists by the sounds of it.

Very risky move giving two-year-deals to a load of players not proven in this league. It’s not like you came up after romping home and finishing as champions.

Fair point.
In fairness, we topped the form league for weeks before lockdown and could easily have won the league anyway.
Time will tell if our manager has made the right call. He usually does:woo:

Anyway,.. little Alty are just happy to be back and making up the numbers in the NL. Main target this season is to at least score a goal against the hatters even if we do lose,.. as normal.

Haha I would say I’m sure you’ll get a goal this year but I am reasonably confident that our first choice back three of Hogan, Palmer and Stott are going to be solid.

Some of those 2 year deals seem odd to me. I understand a few of them, but a number of the others are the wrong side of their peak, and /or what you would not consider to be very "commercial". It may come back to haunt, but like Pieman says, have to wait and see.

I honestly think you will win it. Great squad and manager who always impresses. Your defence has always been the strong point, not forgetting your excellent keeper. I would take being 10 places behind you before we start the season:bow:

My joy at promotion was somewhat tempered by the prospect of a 5th consecutive fruitless, goalless day out at Edgeley Park, stuck in that corner of the ground.
