For some reason those of us who want to pay by installments are prevented from ordering our season tickets. I've always been pro fan ownership but with the trust board seemingly bending over and taking it up the bum from the PLC I'm really struggling. I'll always be a Wimbledon supporter but we're losing control.

Sold 3000 so far at Wimbledon. Reckon we might get close to 5000 this season.

Just received an email saying the direct debit payment facility has been restored. Our ticketing system always seems to have some sort of problem one way or another.

Tell me about it. Unfortunately the ST platform that Silent Joe - now CEO of Notts County - implemented wasn't fit for purpose. I'll book my ST tomorrow.

Expect we will cruise past 5k now . I didn't think sales would be this strong early on without the new investors announced , any contract renewals or new signings .

You guys planning on doing anything with the ground to increase capacity? is it possible?

Like you our STs have soared in recent years and we’ll quite easily reach the 6,000 cap the club have put in, but need that extra space.

We’ve finally woken up and doing something down the side (not sure yet!) but like couldn’t you put temporary stands into the right of the “main” stand etc?

It definitely can be done as we had temporary seats put in before in the early 2000 Championship days but not sure whether the costings would make it affordable as it’s not like we’ve got 10000 wanting tickets every game, most games we are roughly at capacity but that seems about right in the main, of course a successful season in league 2 (stop laughing) would then definitely see the demand for them.

What's more important at Blundell Park increasing capacity? Or improving existing facilities and increasing the fan experience?

Both in truth the capacity is an issue even though people seem to bat it away somewhat , a stadium that is a touch over 8k when you are selling 6k season tickets doesn't add up ; one of the side issues is a good 1k of the st holders don't turn up every week and don't release their seat so any non restricted view seats are hard to come by . Add in the maximum you can offer any of the teams with decent following is 1100 and you are looking at missing out on revenue , especially if we ever go a league up or actually do well . I don't think we are a 'big club ' by any means but there is certainly potential 5 figure gates regularly in the right circumstances , but unfortunately now it wouldn't be possible whatever the circumstances .

The facilities are gradually improving , I expect to see much larger improvements in the next 3 to 5 years for disabled facilities , toilets and the general aesthetic look of the place that's the plan i think anyway - the next month or two might hold a lot of clues as 3 or 4 people are investing (donating) in the club , so the amount and use of the money might give some indication of future travel .

Thanks Grimsby Road for the comprehensive answer.

Grimsby certainly aren't a big club for the lower leagues but like many have real potential.

What stood out in your reply was "non restricted view seats" , that answers my question, instantly.

What I do know improving and increasing both cost clubs serious money.

I'm sure I've asked this before, but is there no scope to bring back the temporary seats? I'm sure that put Blundell Park to a smidgen over ten thousand in the past

I forgot to say - there is actually quite a bit of work going on this summer - the main stand is having about 3 quarters of the posts/poles removed to improve the structure and views so it should actually be a bit better in there , the following summer there is some quite extensive work planned on the opposite stand aswell so they are trying to improve it gradually .

I Think the long term aim is more permanent improvements , with covered stands tied in with improved disabled facilities - extending the main stand full pitch length like the Stag mentioned was/is the plan i believe . Filling in the other corners is possible for sure as even after the temp seating we had planning on doing that with covered stands but the club didn't end up doing it as they were still chasing the dream of a new ground i assume . There is also room to add seats around the place as it is , quite a lot were taken out and just never replaced - the official capacity is 9k but that's pretty far off as it's only around 8300 .

The removal of posts in the main stand isn’t 3/4. 8 posts being removed and being replaced with 4.

The biggest obstacle to ground improvements, other than costs, is the most draconian Safety Advisory Group of any Council in the UK! They are the biggest ‘jobsworths’ ever! If they can object to anything, change their minds at the last minute, they will. They are impossible to work with.

Appreciate that as a long time season ticket holder I am ‘ok Jack’ but I would rather we don’t get into debt building new stands at presents. Construction costs are astronomical and with any costings, you just know prices will rocket.
Investors ultimately want a return, they won’t get one putting money into Grimsby Town FC

Oh i completely agree with you over SAGs the lot of them should be shot, absurd rules and regulations which i’m sure they make up to suit themselves.

Grimsby Road and Cloudy have said it all really. We've no 'Real Money' to splash around and our owners will not risk putting us into debt, so we will do relatively small improvements to Blundell Park when and if any money does come in. A new ground isn't a viable option at the moment, we just can't afford it.

Infrastructure, ground improvements, new facilities, additional seating/stands all cost lots of money. If the owners can't afford it then it's a non-starter as stated above.

It may not be as exciting as signing a Gambian Prince or a previously unheard of winger from Falkirk but it's so much more important in the longer term. It can't be ignored for ever, especially if it detrimentally limits the clubs future income and value.

Can't wait for working handryers at Meadow Lane.

We have these new investors being announced in the next month so it will be interesting to see who it is and how much they are willing to donate ....

Probably the best thing for us to do before investing too much is waiting for safe standing to be a proper thing and then investing when we can do that.

We're currently at zero as they don't go on sale until 1st June. All to do with the club moving to Ticketmaster.

Just announced our prices - expected a bigger increase, very good from the club. Think we'll have quite a big uptake compared to last year EDIT *genuinely got the wrong thread from a defaulting browser, sorry for the non relevant spam :bye:

The Free to under 14's is a cracking offer which should increase your fan base in years to come and you hopefully reap the benefits later. Must they be with an accompanying adult?

Yeah I believe they do have to be with an accompanying adult. Particularly after the drama we had last year with the pyros coming from approx this age group, at one point I think they said anyone under the age of 16 but I may be wrong.
