i hate saying stuff like this, but from a mansfield perspective the only side i can see catching us is burton.

Cambridge and crawley are 11 behind with a much worse GD. On their current PPG they’re projected to get 39. So in effect (including GD) we’re already 2 ahead of what they’re projected to get.

Do many of the bottom 8 still need to play each other?
Shrewsbury have still got:

8/3 - Exeter (a)
15/3 - Burton (h)
5/4 - Cambridge (h)
18/4 - Wigan (h) appreciate not quite in bottom 8
21/4 - Northampton (a)
3/5 - Crawley (h)

Despite recent performances and results, that's why we're not quite out of it just yet. Still also got to go to Birmingham and Wycombe in the same week, Reading at home and Lincoln and Barnsley away. On paper it's not the most daunting of fixture lists, but still a tall order.

I've pretty much resigned myself to thinking we will get caught after not winning that last night.
Of the teams around us we play Crawley (A), Exeter (H), Mansfield (H). I cant see us winning all of those which we would need to as we also play 5 of the current top 8 sides.

A few play each other then. We've got Exeter, Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury all at home.

We’ve got:
Wigan (a)
Peterborough (h)
Northampton (h)
Shrewsbury (a)
Burton (a)

I was looking at our home games before yesterday’s game - Stevenage, Boro, Northampton, Orient and Charlton are all pretty close, then we have Birmingham and Wrexham who are going for promotion. Piece of cake…..!

TBF Birmingham will have won the league about 5 matches before playing us.

Burton just before is another matter though!

Not good news for the bottom 4 as a gap to safety is starting to open up, and those immediately above the relegation zone did OK today.

Our two games in hand on Burton are home games against Mansfield (this Tuesday) and Wigan, so chances to pull away.
Hope 46 is enough to stay up, just two more wins in 12 games, surely even we can do that.

A gap forming, and 3 of the bottom 4 have far worse GD too. Going to be a tough task to get out of that. However, I'm sure many play each other, a win here and you never know.

11 point gap for us now and having scored in all bar 1 of Ainsworth's games up to the end of January, now only scored 1 penalty in the last 5 games.

Limited quality players have run out of steam after the initial upturn

Burton have 30 points left to play for, we're in effect 9 clear with GD. A draw or win at Exeter won't see us safe but it would be another babystep in the right direction.

Still maintain that 50 won't be required for safety - still going with 45/46

Altrincham is a decent away, and Gateshead is fine if you just treat it as a weekend in Newcastle rather than the 2 hours at the stadium.

Barnet is utterly awful though, really hoping they monumentally choke but it's not looking like it.

Anyway, from where we are it's looking likely to be a higher number and that means winning 7 of 11 to have a chance. Saturday extinguished the last bit of hope, probably just Burton to keep an eye on from here.

No particular issue with Altrincham as it's about 3 miles to my house, we played them a few years in a row in the conference.

At least you live in a nice part of the 0161 then

Thought they'd gone down by the time your stint was there, but fair play.

Barnet is alright, go to the game then get the tube into London.

Shite stadium, arsehole stewards, police who like battering away fans for no reason (maybe less of an issue with a small following!) and just a pretty soulless experience. Going into London is a further downside, but each to their own on that one!

Alty have a cracking pub down the road from there, the Bulls Head. We first went there for a protest march against one crook who lived in Hale Barns round the corner. Definitely up market in there! The locals knew Hamilton and all said he was a right wanker so they weren't wrong on that regard.

Went in there a couple of times when we come to play Alty before we got out of non league.

I just wouldn't go tbh, don't do games south of Birmingham usually

Yeah very decent, know the area well - i'm 4 stops down the tramline in Sale so been there plenty of times. Been there for ages, tends to be decent for away fans given it's not far from the ground.

Alty town centre used to be a bit of a dump 10 years ago or so but they've really made an effort with it.
