Away at Sunderland for us.

Goes from bad to worse - now Tom Hopper is out for the season with a hamstring injury sustained in the Gillingham match. The irony of him being our only striker for most of the season and staying fit but as soon as we get two fit strikers he gets injured...

We had no CB's train yesterday either!

This should have been a very good game, set up really well given league positions and probably form but it's not that way now unfortunately. Would snap your hand off for a point.

After last weekend's defeat the fanbase had some good news when John Sheridan's post match interview was mainly around him considering his future which most assumed meant that he was going to resign, given the job he had done could have realistically been done equally as well by literally anything, a soap dish, a Mexican weather lady, John Craven, an amoeba, you name it.

Anyway, on Tuesday fossilis maximus came out and announced that he was staying as he believed that he could turn it around. For those of you that have seen the 'famous' clip from the Austin Powers movie where the guy is attempting to do a three point turn in the ridiculous small space, this is basically going to be what the Sheradactyl does to turn our fortunes around. Not one person, aside from the man himself has any confidence in him turning this around. Perhaps the addition of Lee Camp (who will be our 7th custodian this season) is going to be the spark to stop the malaise? I have my doubts.

We are generally not absolutely hopeless away from home so there is a miniscule chance we might nick a draw. But I doubt it. Fleetwood will only have to be in neutral to get a win. 2-0

I'm not quite sure its very likely at all, but if he somehow does keep us up, he'll probably expect a 2 or 3 year contract for the job he has done. Given its the worst football I have seen us play in a long time, there is no winning situation that can really come out of it!

No idea if any of our walking wounded will be fit tomorrow, the only concern the Gillingham keeper and back line will have is falling asleep of boredom. Nothing but a Gills win that I will be watching through gritted teeth

Notwithstanding your parlous league position and the talk about the manager's position, for the record, John Sheridan saved Fleetwood from relegation in his short spell here some 3 years ago. Clearly its not gone well for him with you lads and I just hope he does'nt make me eat my words !
Our massive improvement of late has been in part our defensive strength, to put this into perpective we have 2 vastly experienced centre backs in Glen Whelan and Charlie Mulgrew who have been on the injured list for many weeks
Right now we have Callum Connolly ( 21 ) James Hill ( 19 ) and Harrison Holgate ( 22 ) who are the back line and performing superbly - 4 clean sheets in a row The good news for Swindon is that means we are overdue in conceding a goal
We have been tremendous in games against Donny/Addicks/Accy and Tractor Boys, a different test awaits us against a team struggling for survival. I expect more than a hard fought game and will be grateful for a win however scabby/jammy and lucky it may be

Over his managerial career I know Sheridan has done relegation rescue jobs at a number of clubs but he's just not worked out here at all. To put it in context, if you take loss% and PPG average he is statistically the worst performing manager in our history.

Is Glenn Whelan now playing CB for you? As someone that follows Hearts in Scotland he was in their centre midfield last season (or it might have been the season before) and he was still a pretty handy player. Charlie Mulgrew is a WB/RB surely? We were linked with him donkeys years ago before he went to Aberdeen.

I'll be amazed if you get anything like a hard fought game, but hopefully Shezza might actually have some tricks (in his empty box of ideas) up his sleeve to get us out of this sorry mess he's got us into.

Its more accurate to say Whelan is a midfielder but Charlie boy has certainly been in the middle. Its a pleasure to watch them ply their trade, experienced ( old b.... ) but they almost stroll around the pitch , Whelan has been out for so long the team have adapted, in spite of our defensive displays, it would be welcome news to see Mulgrew back in the team
One of my golfing pals is a big Hearts fan, Alex Young is regularly mentioned, you also had 3 guys playing in the 50's, I think, who were legends in the club, cant think of their names
I think the kindest thing to say about Sheridan is its just not worked out eh !!!

Jeez, the footy gods have been unkind. Hopper really stepped up this season, incredibly selfless and has been our battering ram all season. We're not a physical side at all and Hopper has had to take the brunt of it. Chipped in with goals and some good quality in there, but he's so much more, adds defensive work rate and is vital in helping us to defend set pieces - something we're not really built for.

That puts Morton front and centre who himself has only recently come back from a long spell on the sidelines. Morton doesn't really have that physicality and is inexperienced in leading the line, we don't have any other option either to give him a break or change things up other than a midget going in there and playing a different way.

We have Bristol Rovers at home. If the Gas score first they win.

The unpredictable factor is Trevor Kettle, he is always likely to do something that affects the result.

There is a name to make you shudder. Many an afternoon at the Pirelli has been ruined for both sides by him shithousing his way through 90 mins of football.

Don’t worry DVR, it matters not what sort of form we are in, if a team is on a bad run we always help them break it.
It’s just the way of things

Noticed that after today at Ipswich, Portsmouth have a decent run-in.

Obviously teams at the bottom scrap a bit at this time of the season but a run of Accy (twice), Shrewsbury, Rochdale, Wigan, Burton, Crewe, MK, Swindon, AFCW and Bristol Rovers isn't a bad one to have if you're chasing the PO's.

They said on Quest.

Like you say could be a good thing on one hand if they play well but a lot teams will be trying to pick up points themselves too.

The Sheridactyl has finally lost the plot.

He decided in the week to drop our 2 regular CBs - probably without even thinking we haven’t got any more! So it’s a line up with no CBs.

I wasn’t going to bother watching the latest shit show episode. Now, out of morbid curiosity, I’ve got to see how this horror show unfolds.

He's reverted to picking names out of a hat now. What on earth is that lineup?

So what was the bigger shock? That we won a game or that Trevor Kettle did not do anything bizarre.

Well, that’s plenty of egg on my face. Weird line up that worked really well. Good performance, great result and a very rare clean sheet. Bring on the Pirates!

Very poor low quality game at Northampton. We didn’t create much but at least tested the Northampton keeper a few times. I don’t think Jaaskelainen had to make a save. Infact I can only remember the one chance from the cobblers, the lob attempt just before we scored. I’d very surprised if Northampton stay up. Over the two games they’ve probably been as poor as any league one side I’ve seen. They seem to have a big problem creating chances.

Pulsating first 25 mins dross after that, happy with a point given being 2 down after 4 mins plus our heads didn’t drop hoping we are going to come out of our slump now

Well played Swindon and a thoroughly deserved 3 points. Better all over the pitch, winning 50/50 battles here there and everywhere and a comprehensive victory. Your up to 19th and I hope you are successful in maintaining league 1 status - I have absolutely no idea why you are in such a precarious position
Oh yes, and good on John Sheridan

Thought we had sneaked it at the end, but Posh are a very good team. Still any 4 from 7 at the bottom.

We were rubbish. Blackpool did what any side should do against us - Press extremely high early and we'll come unstuck.

Liam Kelly; What the hell was he doing? He's been pretty awful in every single appearance for us and then he does that which cost us the goal. If we had any other fit central midfielders, he wouldn't be anywhere near that starting eleven. He's a very strange midfielder. He isn't defensive, he isn't offensive, he's not a tough tackling midfielder and he isn't a technical player. I genuinely cannot fathom what he does.

Jamie Hanson sadly looked like he had gone back to the Jamie Hanson of old.

We may very well be able to sneak into the playoffs, but in reality we are an above average League One side.
