Well yes chaps...there is a game tonight, but I very much doubt anyone has realised, and if they have, I very much doubt they could be bothered to start a thread.
But, as I am actually going to this game, I thought I would start what is likely to be the shortest match thread in the board's short history.
In what will go down as the purest definition of end of season irrelevant games, Wrexham will travel to Aldershot in the battle of teams who's end of season report cards will be very similar.....could and should do a damn sight better than they have.
The hosts are relieved to not be having to battle relegation for the first time in several years, but with the entire squad (bar one I believe) out of contract at the end of season and a management team only in temporary charge, the lack of any attention or tv cameras (ahem Williams) will most likely produce a 'Chester' performance rather than a 'Forest Green' one.
The visitors are probably still trying to work out how they haven't managed to win the Trophy and, should they put in the performance I saw from them at Eastleigh, will probably more than make up for that with victory at the famous fortress of football that is the Rec (sarcasm fully intended).
But the bigger question regarding tonights game is surely....why are we bothering?
A win for either team moves them up, erm, no places. Wrexham have to travel miles, fans have to fork out for stupid prices and, whatever happens on the pitch it will have absolutely no bearing on either team come August.
So why don't the two managers get on the phones, toss a coin to see who wins and, in the immortal words of Queenie from Black Adder II....spend the money on a great big party.
