Well, wwfc is dragging his heels this week

Positive results this week for us, Maloney moaning about injuries and fixtures, we won last season at Wigan, what could possibly go wrong???

Away at Cambridge.

We were without Wickens last week due to concussion protocols but I'm not sure if he'll be back between the sticks. Aside from him and the ones who have been out since last season (Hackett, Walker and Hamilton), we had a clean bill of health last week.

We still feel a bit of a work in progress going forward, not really clicked so far. We've probably scored more than our attacking play has warranted but also conceded more than we should have done.

A packed October coming up in L1 with 7 league (plus any cup) games.

Just seen that we're potentially down to our third 'keeper because our second choice, who played last weekend, is injured.

Good, we need all the help that we can get.
Your third choice keeper will, no doubt, now play a blinder…

At home against Mansfield, a team we have come up against a ton in recent years and feels like generally fairly results have not been so great for us, not as bad at home I guess but at their place feels like we never get anything. Although for some reason I have memory of Chris Wilder bringing Ricky Holmes on at half time and watching him single-handedly drag us to a result.

Anyway! We can take a huge amount of confidence from the Huddersfield result. In Tariqe Fosu and Tyler Roberts we have genuine quality in the forward line and some of the players that have been here forever are going to start seeing the bench with regularity in the first time in their Cobblers careers I think (Pinnock, Hoskins). Tom Eaves may make the bench will be a huge boost as hes yet to feature and offers something completely different for us.

Not surprised Mansfield have made a solid start, clearly have a good team, good manager and made good additions. Expecting a comfortable midtable finish for them, something I think is possible for us (fitness issues a concern).

Weather has been horrendous in Northamptonshire but our pitch is usually very well maintained. Hoping for a good crowd in at San Sixfields. Will go with a 1-1 draw.

I fear we could get our pants pulled down tomorrow. I don't feel like this squad has enough resilience to over come everything that's taken place in the last few days.

Great week if you're a Shrews or Cambridge fan

Have a feeling we might lose to Stevenage, fans will go into meltdown if that is the case

Away at Northampton and would echo LordJord, plenty of games away games which spring to mind, 2 away playoff wins, winning the last game before covid - so some interesting games in the past.

Not going tomw as only got back from hols yesterday, but the away end is obviously sold out.

As have said many times, we’ve benefitted from a kind start of fixtures - apart from Barnsley away we’ve not played what i’d consider a “top side” and the 4 home games have all been to sides which won’t trouble the playoffs.

That said, you’ve got to win them and successive home 2-1 wins over Cambridge, then Shrewsbury have elevated us to 8th. Northampton i’d imagine won’t be far from us in the table (either side of us) in fairness.

Given we’ve won the last 2 and we’ve crawley on tuesday where i expect to come away with at least a point i’d be happy with a draw here.

We can give anyone a game here. Will that still be the case this weekend?

If Bolton perform to what their squad is capable off we will lose (Lindsey or not). If we feel sorry for ourselves we will lose.

If we go out with a can do attitude and play like we can and Bolton play like they have been, then we can get a result.

I have a feeling that Bolton fans would almost take a loss if that meant the manager goes.

Mansfield will have to play much better than in our last two games (and wins) to get a result, we are still just trying to get a decent points return one way or another until we see players return after the next international break.

Im sure I have read on your fan's posts you have a ton of players out injured along the defence. How many you still have out?

We’ve the first choice CB and captain out in flint, and another few out - 2 long term.

We’re missing George Maris in midfield, who’d be the first midfielder on my team sheet (though there is some debate on that issue)

Against shrewsbury had we played anyone decent they’d have been out of sight by the half hour mark.

Wycombe. We rarely beat them, home or away. When we did beat them we went we went down that season while they stayed up. When we were comfortably beating them they got the game called off and won the re-arranged game. They also sent us down one year.

PS I hate Wycombe

Defensively we are without our first choice centre back and left back in Aden Flint and Fraser Blake Tracy, both out until after the international break. Plus George Williams and Alfie Kilgour latter been out for a year now though, snapped his Achilles. Stephen McLaughlin been covering at left back despite not being fully fit himself, and Elliot Hewitt did his first 90 minutes for over a year against Shrewsbury at right back.

We desperately need Maris back in midfield, he is the only player that can play the same role DKD did, he got a few minutes last Saturday I don’t think he will be ready to start yet.

Good news is Lee Gregory is in top form, 5 goals already and him and Will Evans looks a really good partnership upfront. It’s fair to say we are struggling a bit in midfield, we could do with Deji Oshilaja playing to help break up the opponents but he is currently covering at centre back.

Wrexham at home, we’ve picked up the last 3 games and should really have won again on Tuesday night.

Would be suprised if it’s the same team again, can see Dominic Ball coming in as Wrexham have a lot of experience in their team.

Not sure how long we can keep relying on Kelman and Agyei to keep leading the line with all these games coming up, our other options are either shit or injured/getting back up to speed.

Game is sold out with likely plenty of interest from tourists.

Not sure on what we're going to do. let you have the ball and stick one up on the counter like we did at Bolton and Posh. Birmingham away was poor but I've always held reservations on our overall away performances since PP took over. Also depends on if he drops Mullin for Marriott. The latter has got 4 goals already and SPM has been ineffective, but i'll put this down to match sharpness and not having a preseason.

Added to the fact that we have an atrocious record down in E10, I can't even remember a win down there.

Evatt not going anywhere.
He has been found out and if you play a high press you will beat us, hang back and give us too much respect we will turn you over..... Gone is the madness of a 5/2/3 formation to be replaced by the slightly better 5/3/2
Another long term injury in Firino leaves us with a bare 3 centre backs of Toal, Santos and Johnston. Academy player will be on the bench because Evatt will not change formation to 4 at the back.
Our wingbacks are average at best and dont beat their man and our forwards are hit and miss but in this league are quality, but it means we have decent replacements to come off the bench if they are not performing.

We can turn you over 4-0 or you could get the same result

Wing backs! I remember wing backs and full backs. We've Been playing a 3223 lately.

I know Gladwin will play a passing game but he might want to change things around a bit.

May 2003 - you beat us 1-0 with an Andy Morrell penalty. You was already up at the time of the game and it was a bit of a dead rubber.

If Crawley beat you, you'll want him gone. Your fans have been calling for his head for weeks. He won't survive that performance. It got our manager sacked .

Well, wwfc is dragging his heels this week

I’m slack like that on holiday. Poor form. :lac:

Anyway. As mentioned above, we are deeply loved by the Gas.

It’s an odd relationship, I don’t think you could call it a rivalry, just a general feeling on their part that we should fuck off and die. Just one of those fixtures where (for them) you see it coming up and think, “oh no - do we have to?”.

I think a lot of teams may have felt the same way during the Ainsworth years where we were infamous for “the dark arts”, but it seems to run deeper than that for Gas fans, for some of the reasons already listed.

Our form is OK so far, but as I’ve said previously our weakness is an occasionally sloppy defence esp. from set pieces, so we’ll see if the Gas can target that.

I think that given BRFC’s shite start though, unless they start well then the crowd could start getting on the team’s back early doors - it remains to be seen how much shelf life Taylor has remaining.

Ah. Did warn you about this. He is a very good signing *if* you could keep him fit - an 8/10.

But yeah, that injury record is most likely what’s kept him pushing on, could have been a Championship player were it not for that. Just as he starts to really get into form, he gets sidelined again.
