In the grand scheme of things, we're still just 5 points off top spot and are looking better. We'll also likely sign that all important central midfielder this week which will put us further among the top teams. Still all to play for.

Regrettably, despite a run of our 27 points from 12 games before today, our ‘season is over’, and if we somehow make the playoffs we will be ‘lucky’ to have done so.

I know this because I read it on Notts Co social media.

He's suspended pending the result of the investigation. I've been told that investigation has been finalised and he's gone - to be announced Monday.
I’ve been told something completely different now in the pub this evening… new rumour is that the alleged victim in all this went directly to the Police as oppose the club, and the clubs hands are now tied in that due to legalities they can’t do anything until the police case is closed… which of course could take a very long time!

Let’s see I guess, that rumour could be put to bed completely if come Monday as you say, Rowe is gone. But if not, there could well be some legs in what I’ve been told !!

The longer this hangs over us, the more likely our season will derail… so for what it’s worth, I’d much rather what you’ve heard be true as it means we can draw a line under it and move on with a new manager appointed asap

Also what’s the deal with Mullin Wrexham fans?

I saw a post on here saying he’d miss the game at our place, but that’s 4 league games away. Isn’t a straight red a 3 match ban, not 4?

Doesn't like the "we've got Mullin" chant in a Welsh accent I heard.

Hasn’t he already had one? I think your second straight red of the season is four games.

I'm pretty confident top spot went into the ether for us this week, we should make the playoffs but it's a tall order going up from sixth and seventh, 6% success rate I think I read somewhere.

It’s his second red of the season, will be an extended ban I think

To have a chance we’d have to finish second or third. Absolutely hopeless away, but you’d fancy us at home. Weird old team.

When the NL spending reached (and continues to do so) unprecedented levels, I always thought top spot would be an pretty impressive achievement for anyone Optipez, but thought top 3 was gettable, and still do. But yeah, any lower than that and it will be tough, VERY tough

I agree, we've around half a season to go but it's so intense this year that it feels like we're on the last run in.
I think we should be aiming for top three, Wrexham have had to go from scratch, Stockport and now Chesterfield having to change managers so we've had continuity, good budget, settled owners and a coach who had a full pre-season and half of last to get to know the teams in the league. Less than top three must be seen as underperforming.

Curtis Weston scored a very similar goal to today’s for us back in 14/15 at Dartford; another 1-0 win live on BT Sport, which helped us win the title.
Good omen for you Spirites!
I remember that day, we were at Alfreton on the same day hoping you lot would slip up and we watched some of it in a pub before going to the ground and it meant the atmosphere at Alfreton was a bit subdued despite us having 2500 there as it meant we still needed you to drop points twice which we knew wouldn’t happen.

I take pride in not making early player judgments but I'm afraid I can't possibly justify it on this occasion. He's been hooked in both games and offered nowt. Come back Payne all is forgiven.
I’m the same - but I have to say watching that tonight was almost as bad as it gets from a striker. No goal threat, no strength, no winning headers - dare I say it worse than Payne.

If you think it's payneful watching your strikers you should try watching Emile Acquah.

Both against Maidenhead.....must get wound up playing the big boys.
Who wouldn't? Maidenhead are a horrible team to face with their players constantly hounding in the ref's ear, playacting and regularly diving. Your whole gameplan revolves around taking advantage of poor refereeing.

I bet your lot think the refs at this level are fantastic.

If that’s the case then that’s definitely bad news. Unless we can bring in someone in an advisory capacity for Webb whilst things drag on? A someone first name Paul second name Cook.

If we beat Barnet on Tuesday we would have won as many league games in the whole of 2019 in 24 days haha

I love ❤ being a tinpotter and seeing the hurt and bitterness we cause.
I just love it.

Sorry for getting upset about conceding a last minute equaliser after playing an entire game with 10 men. Would you not be upset about that too?

Mildly peeved, is that better?

I know it's a game. I've had far worse stuff happen to me in my life, once the match was over I put it out of my kind and got on with my evening.

Plus, only one clown here.

On the contrary we often find the refs are often against the smaller teams like us.
Maybe why we have to get in their ear sometimes.

Bet all 2,500 of you enjoyed sliding that muddy slope to get to Alfreton’s one away turnstile!

It’s funny, we’ve had no problem playing Maidenhead whatsoever! Since our return to this league our record against them has been P7 W6 D1 L0 GF 12 GA 1.

I know what you mean. Crazy to think we are only halfway through, season feels like it has been going forever, and ours has been seriously disrupted now. But some fans really let league table pressure really get to them. I even saw one loon on Facebook complaining that Solihull were above us, this being despite the fact they’ve played more games, including Dover twice, whereas we haven’t played them at all. Another claiming ‘something’s not right’ because we have gone two games without scoring. Drop to 8th, and certain people piss their pants. You’d have thought they’d have learned to wait until all the votes are counted by now, but no.

On to Grimsby!

I’m still very much Team Burchnall but the statistical difference between our home and away results means he has to see it more than just a simple intensity/mindset issue. It might be tighter, worse pitches or something but when Wootton physically never scores away from home there needs to be some sort of significant tactical change to remedy it. I think the 352 is brilliant, works wonderfully at home and towards the backend of last season but maybe in January away at Bromley etc… you just need to go 433 and a bit more direct.
