Aside from it being my birthday, home to Portsmouth.

Our good start to the season coincided with being able to field a settled side but injuries are starting to come now. We'll be without Walsh, Bridcutt, Melbourne and Morton (who may now need an operation after all by the sounds of it, so that's two months or so wasted).

A handful of players having to continue with niggles as well so the FA Cup will probably come at a good time for us.

Just came out the wrong side of a close game at the weekend and I'd take a point here to keep ticking over.

Happy Birthday!

Yup injuries are starting and affecting the players where we don't really have cover in. Morton out leaves only Hopper as a focal point upfront. Walsh out leaves only Jackson and Montsma and no replacement for Bridcutt who like on Saturday will be the biggest miss against the better teams - he's just a magnet for second balls.

A point against Pompey would be great. I don't think anyone thought we'd start this well so I do think we'll see a slide but post FA Cup we do have some more favourable games coming up.

Still, really enjoying watching us at the moment and gutted we can't be there to cheer this team on as we'd get right behind this team and I think the players would benefit from a full house.

Yeah, it looking a little 'easier' after FA Cup weekend - Wigan, Rochdale, Northampton, Shrewsbury, Swindon, Gillingham (although Evans always does us) and Burton.

I don't know what's happened for Morton to now need an operation. Walsh's is unfortunate with it being a wear and tear injury rather than a 'proper' one.

Thankfully it seems like Bridcutt will be back for the league game after tomorrow.

A good test of our credentials tomorrow away at Charlton. They have made a fine start so we'll see how our players stand up to a 'Championship' side. Right now a draw will be an excellent result

Away at Wimbledon and the first game at their new stadium I believe. Hopefully the new surroundings will bring a change of fortune for us as we normally turn into a bunch of strangers when we play them. Not sure if any of the missing 4 will be back

Home vs to Gillingham for us. Just hope we carry on how we were at Ipswich as bar the result we were very good. Expecting a physical test though with likes of Oliver, Samuel and Akinde being options for Gillingham. Always worries me when teams come to Gresty Rd on losing runs like the Gills are tomorrow.

Crewe 2-1 Gillingham (Mandron, Kirk, Oliver)

Easier? Ooh you tart

We've got MK Dons, would really give us a boost to get another win and perhaps get on a little bit of a roll as our fixtures have got easier after the run we had before Wigan

Away to Sunderland. We don’t get many points off top 8 sides. 1-0 defeat

I read somewhere recently that we didn't beat a single top 6 side last season?

We will certainly need to be a damn sight better than recent performances to win away, especially given the travel time after a game only 3 days prior. They have lost to sides we have beaten this season though, will be an interesting watch - hopefully we put on a good showing.

We’ve lost to Pompey. U aint played em yet so not sure where you are getting that from.
It’ll be a tough game tonight though, we aren’t playing great but are hard to beat and do have moments of quality but our frontline just doesn’t score enough. The only loss we had was a deserved defeat tbh but we did have a makeshift defence that day and mistakes we hadn’t been making cost us. This season will be as close as last season in the top 8 so getting points from these games will be vital for both of us. Injuries are starting to play a big part already with most of our backup defenders now out and Willis has missed a few games due to injury lately. Scruffy and lucky win on Saturday gone against Gillingham so im not sure for tonight, i’m going 1-1 or a winner either way 1-0. It’s a rollercoaster being a fan of our clubs mind haha.

Swindon at home for us, back to almost full strength post covid cases.

We'll be looking to get payback following defeat in this fixture last season. I'm sure Joel Grant will be up for it wanting to show Ryan Lowe why he should have offered him a contract. How's he been doing Swindon fans?

Only played the last game. Took his goal well enough. Couple of 10 minute cameos as sub. Hasn’t really shown much, tbh. I think we’ve still got 7 or 8 players out and a manager about to jump ship (allegedly).

We should be there for the taking.

I thought you said Wellens would only move for a big club, Salford?

Good for you. He’s wasn’t going to get an interview after dismissing any interest in joining you. To me that’s turning you down - interview or not.

3 changes for us against Portsmouth:

Gotts comes in for Monstsma for his debut at right back, Eyoma moves into the middle with Roughan coming in at left back, replacing Edun - that's ridiculously inexperienced defence against one of the best attacks on paper. Finally Scully replaces Anderson on flank.

Will be interesting to see how we get on.

He wasn’t going to get an interview because we didn’t approach Swindon to ask if we could talk to him and he didn’t apply, the only link is a local journalist asking him

Wellenless Swindon at Home Park. Looks like we might be using all four cameras. Suspect Grant will be very keen.

HT: Imps 0-1 Pompey, deserved lead for Pompey who came out the traps quick Marquis with a really nice finish after 5 mins - that's what a £million+ striker gets you!

Pompey pressed us quick and they are not afraid to go long although they look much better when Curtis is on the ball. To be fair to us we've grown into the game although not really have a clear cut chance but Palmer has had a fairly quiet half.

Crewe 0-0 Gillingham HT

this is getting ridiculous now, another half dominated and we missed six very good chances, 1st Kirk misplaced a sitter, then Powell got the post when 1 on 1, then Kirk hit a tame effort at the keeper when only 10 yards out, next Powell headed over when 5 yards out in the middle of the goal with nobody around him, next Mandron effort is blocked, ball falls to Ng two yards out he a balloons it, and finally Ainley great feet to beat the last man curls one towards the top corner and the Gills keeper tipped it over.

I can call exactly what will happen now, we will miss a few more and Oliver will score a scrappy winner for Gillingham.

we’re playing great football, but the finishing has got to be better.

Getting beyond a joke now. Playing some unbelievable football but then panic in front of goal.

Blimey Dan, is this going to end up10-9?!?
We’re excelling at the comedy capers defending - mind you, you’re not far behind. Absolutely dreadful defending by both teams.

Now we’re down to 10 men - fuck knows what for - we’re done for, done diddly done for.

A worrying reshuffle really. It's not quite square pegs in round holes but I'm sure we'd prefer Gotts in CM rather than RB , TJ at RB rather than CB and likewise Grant much further up the pitch.
