The weekend starts tonight with the Imps at Gillingham. We had a really tough 90 minutes on a quagmire at Hull in midweek, so it'll be interesting to see how we bear up. We rested Bridcutt and McGrandles and Jackson for that and I would expect to see them come back in, and Morgan Rogers was cup tied. So, I'd expect pretty much the same XI that dominated Donnny last weekend (and lost!) - maybe Monstma in for Walsh. Three new signings from deadline day on the bench, ready to come on and give us some late game energy.

Gonna predict a win. Won't be watching coz its on Sky.

You beat me to it! Will copy and paste from t'other thread.

Well it's matchday so may as well get this thread going.

18:00 Kick Off see's Gills v Imps in front of the Sky cameras.

Having only played 72 hours previously on a heavy pitch it'll be interesting to see what Appleton goes with, we'll be missing Morton and Archibald but will be boosted by having new signings Poole, Sanders and Bramall available. It must be a first that MA has real selection headaches in various positions.

Our away form has been very good but I suspect Tuesday night's game may add a little lethargy. Having undeservedly lost to Doncaster last weekend, I hope we play a little angry and we have to be more clinical.

Gills have also improved and got a real good point up at Sunderland and having had their feet up midweek will be fresh coming into the game.

Should be a decent game and would love to get one over Steve Evans.

We've got red hot Accrington this weekend, so I fear a battering is on the cards.

Genuinely don’t know what to expect from us.
We were unlucky not to beat Sunderland last week and we look a lot better with Dempsey, Slattery and Lee in midfield.
Problem is if we play like we did against Rochdale, Plymouth etc. then we will get hammered
In short, no idea

Some good selection problems to have for MA, although as said, the absolute bog of a pitch on Tuesday might come into play with some selections. That said, we didn't play McGrandles, Hopper, Bridcutt, Rogers or Jackson at Hull so there are five capable players to come in and it'll mean we can put Grant and Johnson/Scully in their favoured position (I'm assuming Johnson or Scully had to play up front last Tuesday).

We have a poor record against Steve Evans sides but a win tonight heading into Hull on Tuesday will set it up nicely. We certainly can't be any worse than we were at their place last season!

Another 90 minutes of turgid shit beckons at the CG when the other STFC visit. I know Cotterill won’t be there but the last time he was at the CG he had a major league hissy fit! Hoping for the same result.

It is unbelievable that despite how horribly shite we’ve been we’re outside the bottom 4. Difficult to see how there can be 5/6 teams that have performed worse than us - although Wigan were absolutely terrible in midweek, they look a lost cause.

I’m swerving this one for the first BBQ of the year.

The 2 most inform teams meet at the KM tomorrow another difficult game after the Lincoln match. We never do well against Oxford or Robinson so not expecting anything but then I didn’t expect 3 points last weekend. Still no Bogle as his self isolating doesn’t finish until after Saturday so Fejeri will be upfront. The only questions are is Sims, Coppinger and Bostock fit enough for the bench?

Well another chapter in Fleetwood's history as Simon Grayson takes charge for his first game. There was a fans forum hosted by the club last night which was very enjoyable. Like many of us actions speak louder than words so it will be interesting to see how tomorrow's game pans out against the Gasheads

We put 4 past them at their place earlier in the season, now we dont even know where the back of the net is. Confidence is pretty rock bottom so theres only one way which is up, well so they say. Accy's demolition of them on Tuesday will have made them well up for this, tbh putting all this together should see us secure 3 points however scabby it may come.......but I'm not holding my breath too much !

Peterborough away the start of a very tough run in which I think 7 of the next 8 are vs top 10 clubs. The game vs Posh at home was arguably our best performance so far. But I’ve got a feeling it will be a lot tougher on there patch. Gutted to learn Oli Finney has broke his leg after a shocker of a tackle vs Shrewsbury. He will be a big miss, he’s on 4 goals and 2 assists since January, and he’s our best source of goals from midfield. That being said we do have cover in midfield at least, I’d expect Lowery will probably replace him.

It seems only a few days ago we were drawing 4-4 at The Valley; now it's the reverse fixture. Gabriel Osho from Luton has improved our defence, hopefully Conor Shaughnessy does the same, either at the back or in a midfield holding role. Our other signings, Conor Grant and Jack Lane, give options further up the field.

As an optimist, I'll go for a home win, narrowly!

Posh pitch looks dreadful, will undoubtedly have a factor in their home games.

FT - Gills 0-3 Imps

Played better (see last week) and lost. Clinical and counter attacked caused problems.

Felt we were leggy from playing on a real tough surface 72 hours ago but got the job done. Evans will no doubt moan and say they battered us but we defended really well from set piece and long balls up field.

3 points and sets us up for Tues night at Hull.

Very clinical play tonight, every time we attacked Gillingham couldn't deal with us. A lot of set pieces from Gillingham into the box but have to say we defended resolutely - not a huge amount of efforts testing Palmer bar the couple of efforts when Akinde came on.

We didn’t actually play that badly despite the 3-0 loss, in fact we’ve played worse but still won.

Anyway, we move on.

Weird game, innit.

Last weekend we play really good, intense, attacking football and lose yet tonight we weren't at our normal level, in my opinion anyway, but win 3-0. Although I think we were definitely happy to pick Gillingham off as and when rather than commit as we normally do.

6 away wins on the spin and only 2 conceded in 10 away games now.

Listened but didn't watch.... sounded like we defended very well against Gills plan A (high balls in) and then they didn't really have a plan B. Having seen the penalty, can see why it might be called a bit soft; equally though, the one that was chalked off for offside wasn't.

Pleased with that; thought it might have proved a banana skin.

PS: The home commentators have clearly been listening to Evans, who does nothing but go on about how much money we spend. In fact, I'd go as far as to say he's a bit obsessed with it. It's just not true; we have a budget that's about the 14th biggest in the division - firmly mid-table - and it's actually 40% less than last year. Gillingham bought Akinde from us because we were looking to cut the wage bill.

Anything Evans talks about wage bills is absolute balls. Kind of his thing isn’t it. Our commentators aren’t great either.

Yes, given his history why anybody would believe him on the subject of wages is a mystery.

I didn't think your commentators were great.... but I thought they were better than ours. At least they knew the opposition players' names.

With Finney out, it’s time that Mandron steps up and starts scoring a few more. He’s scored, I think, 2 in his last 16 starts. Dale and Kirk are now chipping in with their fair share, so we now need our CF to do the same. He has the technique to score more goals, and I’m hopeful that he will at some point.

I wouldn’t worry about what Evans says mate he is always banging on about budgets. Every team we play apparently has a budget 10 times ours. The bloke is full of shit.
Overall I can see why Lincoln are doing so well this year.
They defended quite brilliantly and were very ‘cute’. Oliver was getting manhandled almost every time he went up for a header but it was done fairly cleverly and the ref never pulled them up in it.
They were decent both ends of the pitch too. Every time they got in the final third I thought they looked dangerous.
they did undoubtedly get the rub of the green though
The first goal could have rebounded anywhere but it fell sweetly for their guy in the box for a simple finish.
The penalty was a pretty obvious dive but Jackson doesn’t need to be touching his shirt, however lightly, as he is giving the ref the opportunity to give it.
The third looked at least a yard offside.
Not sour grapes by the way, I just don’t think it was a 3-0 game.
overall Lincoln won because they were more organised, smarter and had a bit more quality.
I wish you well for the rest of the season

I think the third caught a few people out but he's miles onside.

Fair enough.
From the TV shots you couldn’t see Ogilvie playing him on.
Not that it mattered much anyway.

p.s. that is what I mean though about being organised, why the hell is Ogilvie a yard behind the rest of the back line?

At this point today, I think i'd just take a good performance today similar to the Lincoln loss. Get a few shots in maybe. Just make sure there isnt a hammering so heads don't drop for the crucial Burton/Wigan double header coming up.

Far more attacking than last week and Bostock on the bench, still too early for Sims and Copps

Yet another terrible performance but we’ll no doubt find excuses in the Peterborough pitch. Long, long season ahead next season if this is what it looks like without 3 or 4 key players from last year.

I said I'd take a good performance from today going into the crunch matches... but still really anxious about where our next goal is coming from. 2 goals scored in last 8.

Frustrating but a really good performance especially our new signings. We will beat plenty of teams playing that well.
